Chapter 492 Ambrose

Lillian stayed in Valoria for about two weeks while the Price family kept searching for her.

Seren helped her escape, and they ended up in a small town in Country N.

The town was tiny, surrounded by mountains, with houses by the lake.

The colorful rooftops looked like something out of a fairy tale, especially when covered in winter snow.

The locals were friendly, and Lillian enjoyed a peaceful time there.

As April neared, a severe snowstorm struck, causing temperatures to plummet and heating to become challenging.

"This fireplace is acting up, why's it smoking?" Seren said, frowning as she lit it.

Lillian, sitting cross-legged on the carpet, knitting a hat and watching a video, looked up and smiled.

"Turn it off, it's not that cold. I'll just wear an extra layer. And don't forget to take some cookies to Senno."

Senno, a boy from a nearby house, often visited with his forest cat Jo. Lillian, being kind and good at baking, was popular with the kids.

"I'll go now, or he'll come running in this snow," Seren said, standing up. Lillian handed her a down jacket and scarf.

As Seren left, Lillian noticed two flower pots in the yard. The cold-resistant plants might not survive the heavy snow.

She put on her coat and went outside. As she reached for the pots, she heard footsteps in the snow.

Thinking it was Seren, she turned with a smile but saw a tall, slender man instead.

Her heart raced, and in her shock, she let go of the pot, which fell towards her head.

"Watch out!" the man, approaching closely, shouted and grasped her shoulder with one arm, pulling her back while catching the pot with the other hand.

The pot shattered, and Lillian looked up, dazed.

Upon gazing upon the gentleman's striking visage, her astonishment mutated into amazement.

"Mr. Kelly?"

It was Ambrose, not who she initially thought.

Her heart still racing, she calmed down. "What brings you here?"

Ambrose, holding her shoulder, touched her cold neck and smiled. "Why didn't you wear a scarf? Where's Seren? Let's go inside and talk."

"Yes, let's go inside."

Despite the snowy night, having an old friend visit made Lillian happy.

She smiled and led Ambrose inside.

Lillian made him a cup of hot cocoa. When she turned around, she met his gentle gaze.

He watched her in the dim light, his eyes appearing profound.

Lillian paused, and Ambrose smiled. "You look well."

His words broke the tension.

Lillian smiled and nodded. "Seren takes good care of me. Thank you, Mr. Kelly. Without your help, I don't know what I and the baby would have done."

She placed the cup in front of him, her tone cheerful but polite.

Ambrose noticed her formality, took a sip, and said, "You've thanked me before. If you're really grateful, treat me as a friend and call me Ambrose."

He sat there, calm and relaxed, putting her at ease.

Lillian relaxed a bit, nodding. "Ambrose? That's a nice name. Why did you come suddenly?"

"The Price family sent people to Valoria a few days ago, and I was worried."
