Chapter 423
Terry walked in and saw Jackson holding the letter. "Mr. Frane, need me to check the letter?" he asked.
Jackson tucked the letter into his diary, put it in the drawer, and said quietly, "No need. Just get a handwriting forgery report two days later."
Terry was a bit surprised but just said, "Got it, Mr. Frane."
The next the morning, Jackson was picking a watch when Lillian's voice came from the bathroom. "Jackson!"
Startled, Jackson dropped the watch, cracking it. He rushed out, pushed open the bathroom door, and ran in.
"Lillian!" Jackson hurried in, picked her up from in front of the sink, and carried her to the bed.
"Are you hurt? Is your belly hurting?" he asked, worried.
Lillian, a bit embarrassed, said, "I'm fine. I just noticed Taylor's growing, and my baby bump is getting more obvious!"
Her pregnancy had seemed slower than others. Before, it just looked like her waist was thicker. Today, she saw a small curve in the mirror, showing Taylor's growth.
She pulled Jackson's hand to her belly. Still shaken, he touched her belly and said, "Taylor scared Mommy, and Mommy scared Daddy. Not ideal."
Lillian blinked. "Why not ideal?"
Jackson poked her nose and smiled. "Because I'm always worried about you two."
Lillian laughed, hugging his neck. "Mr. Frane, this awareness is good and should be encouraged."
She kissed him, and he kissed her back, supporting her neck with his other hand.
Afterward, she leaned on his shoulder, looking a bit gloomy. "The wedding's in a few days. Why is my belly showing now? I hope the dress fits. Molly's bringing the dresses tonight, and you haven't tried on your suit yet. Come back early."
The wedding was close. Lillian was busy with dance rehearsals and wedding plans. She felt happy but also a bit unreal and uneasy.
Jackson was busy too and hadn't had the time to try on his suit.
"Okay, I'll listen to you," Jackson said, kissing her again before letting go.
In the afternoon, Lillian left the dance troupe early and went home.
Molly and some store employees brought the dresses over. Trying on her wedding dress, Lillian realized the wedding was really happening.
"When will Mr. Frane be back? Everything's custom-made, but he should try it on," Molly said, helping Lillian with her dress.
"He said he'd be back early today. I'll call him," Lillian replied.
She called, and Jackson answered. "Honey, are you almost home?" she asked, smiling.
Jackson was silent for a moment.
Sensing something amiss, Lillian's smile faded. "What's wrong?" she asked.
