Chapter 777

"What do you mean?" Gray sprayed medicine on his chest, answering nonchalantly.

Jackson's eyes turned cold, and he said in a deep voice, "If you want to pursue Shirley, do it seriously with the intention of marriage. If you're just playing around, stop it now and don't mess with Shirley anymore."

Gray paused his action of rubbing the medicine, looking up at Jackson in disbelief. "Jackson, what are you talking about? Do you still have feelings for Shirley?"

Meeting Jackson's suddenly fierce gaze, Gray realized. Jackson was obsessed with Lillian; he couldn't possibly be interested in another woman. Even if he was, he wouldn't go for Lillian's best friend.

Under Jackson's murderous look, Gray awkwardly smiled and said, "You can't blame me for overthinking, Jackson. What you just said was really misleading."

He was so scared that cold sweat broke out on his back. He didn't want to become Jackson's rival in love; it was too terrifying, and he had no chance of winning.

"Remember what I said," Jackson said again, not bothering with Gray's foolish thoughts. This was already a warning.

Gray's face turned a bit sour, frowning, "Jackson, aren't I your friend? Now you're warning me for a woman who has nothing to do with you? Besides, how am I not pursuing her seriously? If I wasn't, who knows what would have happened to Shirley when she got drunk today. That woman is just making a big deal out of nothing, has a bad temper, and is always pushing her luck."

He hadn't done anything to wrong Shirley; it was Shirley who gave him attitude and wanted to break up. After all these days, there was still no peace!

Jackson should go talk to Lillian and have her manage Shirley properly, not warn him here. This was too much favoring of a woman over a friend.

"Why did Shirley get so drunk? Wasn't it you who brought her into the private room in the first place?" Jackson questioned coldly.

Lillian didn't recognize the watch on Gray's wrist, so she didn't realize from the surveillance video that it was Gray who dragged Shirley into the private room.

Gray felt a bit guilty. He had been trying to contact Shirley these days, but Shirley had blocked him on all social media and ignored him even when he created chances to meet by accident. Today, she even went to a blind date!

He just wanted to teach Shirley a lesson, so he embarrassed her in the private room. The people in the room were all from their circle, all with higher status than Shirley. Seeing Gray's attitude, they naturally joined in making things difficult for Shirley. With everyone jeering, Shirley couldn't get away.

But Gray just wanted Shirley to lower her head, soften up, and beg him. If she had asked, even with just a pleading look, he wouldn't have let others keep making things difficult for her. Who knew Shirley would rather drink all the alcohol on the table than look at him again?

Thinking about it made Gray angry, but remembering how Shirley later vomited and cried in the car, and how pale she was when rescued from the water, he felt somewhat regretful.

"Jackson, you chase your wife, and stay out of our business," Gray said stubbornly.

Seeing Gray's stubborn look, Jackson knew that saying more would be useless. Even with his example, Gray didn't learn a lesson. What could he do?

"Shirley is one of the most important people to Lillian, her family, and thus my future family. I don't want us to end up unable to be friends," Jackson said in a deep voice and then turned to leave.

But Jackson's meaning was clear: if Gray hurt Shirley, he would stand by Shirley's side.

As Jackson disappeared from the room, Gray ground his teeth, feeling inexplicably irritated. He couldn't even continue applying the ointment, threw the bottle aside, and got up to leave.

Gray pushed open the master bedroom door, and Shirley was still sound asleep on the big bed. But she was sleeping restlessly, with the blanket kicked to the floor, only a corner still covering her feet. Her nightgown had rolled up to her waist, leaving her long legs exposed.

Gray walked over, picked up the blanket in annoyance, and threw it over the oblivious woman who was always causing trouble. "Stupid woman, are you trying freeze yourself?"

Seeing Shirley had no reaction and showed no signs of waking up, Gray turned to leave. But as soon as he turned, something flew over and hit his foot. Looking down, it was the blanket he had just thrown on Shirley.

"You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?" Gray picked up the blanket, angrily turning back. He thought Shirley had woken up and was doing it on purpose. But turning around, he saw Shirley kicking her legs twice and then rolling off the bed.

"Oh my God!" Gray rushing over without thinking. He caught her just before she hit the ground, but the momentum caused them to roll, and Gray's head hit the corner of the sofa hard, making him groan in pain.

"Shirley!" Gray gritted his teeth. But before he could push Shirley off him, she made a retching face, looking very uncomfortable. Gray was instantly terrified. She had already vomited on him in the car today. He had taken two showers and a swim but still felt he smelled bad. He couldn't go through that again.

Instinctively, Gray raised his hand and covered Shirley's mouth tightly. "Shirley, enough is enough. If you dare vomit on me again, believe me, I won't wait for you to jump; I'll throw you into the pool myself!"

Gray realized Shirley's face didn't look right, turning red. It was then he noticed he had covered both her mouth and nose in his haste. With Shirley lying face down on him, she couldn't breathe.

Gray had never noticed how small Shirley's face was. Just as he was about to let go, Shirley suddenly opened her eyes. Their eyes met, and Gray froze, feeling a bit nervous. He forgot to let go.

Shirley's eyes went from confused to clear and angry in a blink. Then, with a fierce look, she kneed him hard in his weak spot.
