Chapter 489 Push Away

Daisy was fuming as she spoke, "Now that she's gone, what about Jeffrey's illness? Did she leave because she didn't want to save him? Jackson, you have to bring her back."

Jackson stood still, his shadow stark against the polished floor.

His hand, hanging by his side, slowly clenched into a fist. The wound on his palm, untreated, started bleeding again, blood dripping through his fingers.

"Jackson, what's wrong with your hand? It's bleeding a lot."

Star quickly moved towards him, reaching for his bleeding hand.

But before she could touch him, Jackson abruptly raised his hand and pushed her away.

Star nearly got hit, stumbling back a few steps, her face turning pale.

"Jackson." Her eyes welled up with tears.

Jackson didn't look at her; he just lifted his gaze to Daisy, sneered.

"I was hesitant about bringing her back, but now I think it's good that she left. At least this way, the baby won't be treated like a blood bag before it's even born."

Jackson stepped outside, brushing past Daisy, his voice cold and unyielding.

"I've decided to respect Lillian's wishes and won't be searching for her anymore. As for your son, you're on your own with that. It's not Lillian's responsibility!"

With that, Jackson strode up the stairs and ordered Evelyn, "Please see them out and make sure they don't come in again without permission."

As Jackson climbed the stairs, Daisy finally processed his words and shouted angrily, "What do you mean 'figure it out yourself'? That's your brother! Jackson!"

Jackson didn't look back. Daisy tried to move forward but was stopped by Evelyn.

"Mrs. Daisy Frane, you know Mr. Jackson's temper. Please, you and Miss Price should leave."

Daisy shot Evelyn a furious glare. Star stepped forward, trying to placate her, "Daisy, let's just go. Lillian's gone, and Jackson's in no mood for arguments. It's not worth getting upset over."

Daisy, feeling dizzy and frustrated, asked, "Star, do you really think Jackson has given up on finding Lillian?"

Star guided Daisy toward the door, speaking soothingly, "No, he won't just abandon Jeffrey like that. Even if Lillian is gone, Jackson will find a suitable replacement for Jeffrey. Don't worry, I'll also use the full resources of the Price family to help find a match."

Star lowered her head, but her eyes were resolute.

She wondered about Jackson's words, 'Could he really be disheartened enough to stop searching for Lillian?'

"Your kindness contrasts sharply with Lillian's," Star said with a slight smile. "Jeffrey trusted her so much. The Frane family raised her for so long, and now she's abandoning us when we need her the most."

Star glanced back at the Peace Mansion.

She thought, 'Jackson might have pushed me away tonight, but that is just because he is still reeling from Lillian's departure.'

She believed that as long as Lillian stayed away, she'd eventually replace Lillian and become the new mistress of the mansion.

Upstairs, Jackson stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, silently watching the figures of Star and Daisy leaving the estate.

Once the cars had driven off, he picked up his phone and instructed, "Find the surveillance footage from twenty days ago when Lillian and Star had coffee at the café across from the hospital. Check what they talked about and see if any of the staff overheard their conversation."

At the time, Jackson hadn't thought much of their meeting.

But now, reflecting on it, he realized that Lillian had always been wary of Star. It didn't make sense that they'd just sit down together for coffee.

Jackson remembered that after that day, Lillian's behavior had subtly changed. She wasn't as sharp-tongued with him and seemed to be softening just a bit.
