Chapter 727
Lillian was startled and quickly brought Logan back, gently patting his little bottom. "Baby, What's wrong with you?"
The door to the ward opened, and the person who rushed in made Jackson frown in surprise.
It was Star.
Her face was full of anxiety and worry as she hurried towards Lillian.
Bending down, Star tried to take Logan from Lillian's arms.
Lillian instinctively tightened her grip, and as they tugged at each other, Logan, who had already woken up, started crying even louder, clutching Lillian's shirt and burrowing into her embrace.
Lillian's eyes turned cold. "Star, what are you doing! Let go!"
Noticing Logan was frightened, Lillian pushed Star away.
Star staggered back a couple of steps, falling towards Jackson.
She clearly intended to fall into Jackson's arms, but Jackson sidestepped.
Star missed, twisted her ankle in her high heels, and exclaimed.
Celine, who had followed in, quickly supported Star. Star looked at Jackson with a pitiful and vulnerable expression. "Jackson, can you ask Lillian to give Logan back to me? I know Lillian resents Wendy and even more so the unfortunate timing of Logan's birth. Jackson, you witnessed Logan's birth but couldn't make it to send Lillian to the delivery room, which indirectly caused your kid's death . But Logan is innocent, he..."
"Enough! Star, shut your mouth!" Every word from Star was extremely harsh, and Jackson interrupted her coldly.
He frowned slightly, his icy gaze sweeping over Star and Celine behind her, still surprised by the kid's identity.
Lillian was even more stunned, her arms stiff as she held Logan, looking up at Jackson. "Is this kid the one Wendy gave birth to that night?"
Lillian's eyes were complex, with a hint of fragility.
Jackson clenched his hand tightly by his side and said in a deep voice, "Lillian, I just found out too."
He was worried that Lillian would overthink.
Lillian indeed had many thoughts flash through her mind, but sensingJackson's surprise and anxiety at this moment.
Thinking about the encounter with Celine in the hall and Jackson's reaction, she felt he wasn't lying to her.
But Lillian didn't expect that Jackson, who had cared so much before the kid was born, hadn't visited the Price Mansion to see him in these four months. Otherwise, how could he not recognize the Price Family's nanny and this kid?
Thinking of this, Lillian's heart was a mix of emotions.
She really didn't expect this kid to be the surviving baby from the Price Family that night.
Because of this kid, Jackson left Miracalia. Taylor was gone, but this kid survived.
Logan was certainly not at fault, but Lillian felt a twinge of resentment. The love and tenderness she had felt for Logan were now tinged with bitterness, making her uncomfortable.
But Logan opened his eyes in Lillian's arms.
As if sensing Lillian's change in emotion, knowing he was being rejected, Logan seemed heartbroken.
His big, clear eyes were filled with tears, reflecting Lillian's image.
Pouting his rosy little mouth, he acted coquettishly towards her, even reaching out his soft little hand to touch Lillian's face.
Lillian held Logan's little hand, soft as a cotton ball, and sighed softly.
She didn't understand why God loved to joke with her so much.
Lillian's stiff hand gently patted the crying Logan again. Logan, being very cooperative, let out a small, cute hiccup and stopped crying.
Instead, he opened his big eyes, filled with curiosity, and stared at Lillian.
Lillian's heart softened, and she instinctively raised her hand to feel Logan's forehead with the back of her hand, realizing he had subsided.
"Lillian, you should give Logan back to me." Star seemed afraid that Lillian would harm Logan and stepped forward again to take Logan.
"Logan, can I hold you?" But as soon as she got close, Logan pouted and was about to cry again.
Jackson reached out and blocked Star's hand from reaching Logan.
"Jackson? Logan is the Price Family's child. I've always treated him as my own son. I'm very worried about him being sick. Lillian won't let go and won't let me near him. What does she mean?" Star frowned and complained.
Jackson said in a deep voice, "The smell of alcohol on you is bothering Logan!"
Star's expression changed slightly. She had indeed gone to a bar to drink and dance earlier.
If she hadn't known that Jackson and Lillian were at the hospital, Star wouldn't have come to the hospital tonight.
"The smell of alcohol accidentally got on me from someone else. A friend was celebrating a birthday tonight. When I heard Logan was sick, I rushed over!" Star explained.
Lillian stood up with Logan in her arms and looked at Star. "Star, the doctor said this baby is premature, with a weak constitution, and more prone to illness. He needs more careful care. If you really care about him, don't leave everything to the nanny."
If Star truly loved Logan, how could Logan have no sense of dependence on her?
Clearly, Logan didn't like Star and even relied more on Lillian, who he had only met twice, than on Star.
"Lillian, what do you mean by that? Logan is a hard-won kid for the Price family. He was born premature, so tiny. You can't imagine. If I weren't careful, how could Logan have grown to be so adorable?" Star said as she reached for Logan in Lillian's arms, smirking at Lillian. "I forgot, you've never taken care of a baby, so you can't possibly know how troublesome and tiring it is. I can't be with Logan all the time. A little negligence is normal; otherwise, what's the nanny for?"
Star repeatedly mentioning Lillian's lack of experience with babies, were clearly meant to sting Lillian.
Lillian's eyes were sharp. "Star, if you were truly careful, your nanny wouldn't be so neglectful of the baby!"
Lillian was inexplicably angered by Star's superficial efforts.
She knew she shouldn't feel pity for Logan, but she couldn't ignore Logan being neglected.
Star seemed somewhat surprised by Lillian's attitude. She smiled faintly at Lillian and said, "It seems you really like Logan."
She then turned to Jackson, her mind working, and suggested. "Jackson, we are born on the same day, which is why your mom treated me like her own daughter. Logan is also born on the same day as Taylor. If Lillian really likes Logan, why not let Logan recognize Lillian as his Godmother? It would be a comfort."
Lillian was already trying her best to ignore Logan's identity, to forget the night when her kid was died because of Logan.
But Star kept bringing it up, her seemingly considerate suggestion only made Lillian more uncomfortable.
Lillian felt a sting in her heart and instinctively loosened her grip on Logan, handing him back to Star.
But who knew Star's action to take Logan was just a pretense, and Logan wasn't held securely, falling towards the ground.
