Chapter 514 Hypocrite
Star seemed like a caring older sister, genuinely worried about Lillian, even reaching out to touch her belly.
Someone who wanted to kill Lillian could meet her without a hint of guilt, acting flawlessly.
It was genuinely terrifying.
Lillian felt a chill down her spine and shrank into Jackson's arms, saying coldly, "Don't touch me!"
Jackson grabbed Star's wrist to stop her and tightened his other arm around Lillian protectively.
Star looked shocked and saddened by Lillian's harsh words and Jackson's actions.
With tears in her eyes, she said, "Lillian, what's wrong?"
She pulled her wrist back, tears welling up, "Jackson, you're hurting me."
Jackson let go, and Star rubbed her wrist, which had a few red marks.
"What are you doing here?" Jackson asked, frowning.
Star felt deeply wronged after trying to build a relationship with Jackson for two months, only to find they were growing more distant.
But that wasn't the most important thing right now. She couldn't reveal anything that might make Jackson suspicious.
She forced a smile and said, "It's all your fault. You didn't tell me you were picking up Lillian. I thought you were on a business trip in Willowbrook, so I flew there to find you, only to come back empty-handed."
"Oh, by the way, I brought some small gifts from Willowbrook. Lillian, here's one for you."
She pulled a small shell pendant from her bag and handed it to Lillian.
Lillian stared at her, "Miss Price, are you suffering from amnesia? You helped me leave Miracalia. You shouldn't be welcoming me back, so why the pretense?"
Star looked shocked, "Lillian, what are you talking about? When you disappeared, I was worried too. I thought you were avoiding Jackson after your fight and would return in days, but I later learned you'd really left."
She denied it firmly, confident that Lillian had no evidence.
Lillian sneered, "Miss Price, your performance is truly impressive."
Star looked at Jackson with red eyes, full of grievance.
"Jackson, you don't suspect me too, do you?"
Jackson's eyes were deep, "What did you say to Lillian in the café that day?"
Star, frightened by his tone, started crying, clenching her hands.
"Fine, I admit that Lillian asked me to help her leave Miracalia that day. She said she had no feelings for you anymore and felt miserable. She hoped I would use the Price family's connections to help her leave, but how could I do that, Jackson? I refused her right away and advised her to talk to you!"
She spoke firmly and then looked at Lillian.
"Lillian, isn't that what happened?"
Lillian admired Star's ability to make it appear as if she left independently, leaving no one else to fault.
