Chapter 401 Jeffrey Is Missing

Jackson stood up, pointed to the bathroom, signaling Lillian to freshen up, and then grabbed his phone and stepped out to take a call.

It was Mike, calling about tomorrow's collaboration.

Before Mike could say anything, Jackson blurted out, "Why do guys usually get rejected when they propose?"

Mike was stunned. "Did you propose to Lillian and get turned down? You two are something else. Married for two years and still proposing, huh? That's a new one."

"Cut the crap!" Jackson snapped. He asked Mike because he had more experience, not to be mocked.

Mike stopped laughing. "Alright, alright. Tell me how you proposed."

Jackson explained briefly, "I just said I wanted a wedding since we missed out on one."

Mike was silent for a moment. "You deserved to be rejected. That’s the most half-hearted proposal I've ever heard. Mr. Frane, your cool demeanor isn't gonna cut it here. Proposals need romance. Women are sensitive to that stuff. The right atmosphere makes them feel special, like happiness is right there. Set the scene, and you’ll have a better shot."

Jackson thought, 'If Lillian needs a romantic proposal, I can do that.'

When Lillian came out of the bathroom, Jackson was just walking back in with his phone. He said, "I got it. She's not just your darling. Don't worry. I'll take good care of her."

Lillian paused, her heart skipping a beat. 'Could it be that Susan has woken up? Was Jackson talking about Star?'

As she was thinking, Jackson pressed the phone to her ear.

Lillian looked up, surprised. Jackson whispered, "It's Grandma."

Lillian was stunned. 'So the darling he mentioned was me?'

Her face instantly blushed as Lyra's loving voice came through the receiver. "Lillian, I received the best blessings at the church! Master Elijah said you and Jackson are destined to be together for life! I also prayed for Taylor's healthy and smooth birth. Come to the Frane Mansion with Jackson later. I have something for you."

"Grandma, are you back? Alright, we'll come visit you later." Hearing Lyra's voice made Lillian happy. After hanging up, she urged Jackson, "Let's eat quickly. Don't keep Grandma waiting."

Jackson, happy to be pulled along, worried she might fall again.

Hepicked her up. Lillian looked up at him.

Jackson's face was serious, but he smiled lightly. "Only Grandma can make you this happy. You never smile this brightly for me! It's all in vain!"

He gently patted her on the butt, his tone full of mock grievance.

Lillian fell silent, thinking, 'Is Jackson jealous of Lyra? I must be overthinking it.'

After breakfast, Jackson accompanied Lillian out, and she spent the day with Lyra at the Frane Mansion.

In the evening, Jackson came to pick Lillian up. On the way back to the Peace Mansion, he suddenly got a call from the servant looking after Jeffrey.

After Jackson hung up, his face was serious. "Jeffrey is missing."

Lillian was shocked. "Jackson, get someone to look for him!"

Jackson immediately made a call to give orders. Shortly after, he said, "The surveillance shows Jeffrey left the hospital and got into a taxi. Aiden confirmed he got off near the theme park we went to last time."

With a lead, Lillian breathed a slight sigh of relief and urged Jackson to head to the amusement park.
