Chapter 670

Barry listened to Jackson's wild guesses with a smirk, not showing a hint of panic or any slip-ups.

He even sneered at Jackson, "Your kid died cause you couldn't protect him. Now you're trying to pin it on me? Think Lilian's gonna forgive you for that? Keep dreaming!"

Before Barry could finish, there was a loud crash as a vase shattered against his hand, sending shards everywhere.

Blood started pouring from Barry's hand, and he groaned in pain.

In the next moment, Jackson grabbed the vase and pressed the jagged edge into Barry's bloody hand. The sharp edge dug deeper, and more blood gushed out, making Barry's face go pale.

Barry wanted to scream for help, but Harry was already behind him, covering his mouth to muffle his cries.

"Barry, spill the truth, or kiss this hand goodbye. You'll never hold a scalpel again," Ambrose stepped forward, cool as ever.

Veins bulged on Barry's neck from the pain, but he gritted his teeth and rasped, "It's just a guess. Mr. Frane, if you wanna accuse me, you need proof."

Blood dripped thickly onto the floor.

Just then, there was a commotion in the hallway outside.

Ambrose took a few steps toward the door, peeked outside, and said, "The cops are here."

With all the noise in the room, it was no surprise someone called the police.

A few officers were led in by a nurse, and as the door opened, the room still reeked of blood.

But Barry was already untied. He sat on the hospital bed, holding a towel over his injured hand, looking surprisingly calm.

The lead officer's face changed when he saw Jackson and Ambrose, feeling a chill run down his spine. "Mr. Frane, Mr. Kelly, Mr. Hall, what happened here?"

Barry stood up and spoke first, "Just a misunderstanding. It's all sorted now."

Clearly, Barry was the only one hurt, and his words showed he didn't want to push the issue.

The lead officer knew all three men were big shots he couldn't mess with. Hearing Barry's words, he sighed in relief and quickly left without asking more questions.

Barry asked to go to the police station to file a report and left with them.

The room quieted down, and Jackson told Harry, "Recheck all the medical staff who worked on Lilian that day. See if anyone's gone missing recently, and keep a close eye on Barry."

Even though Barry denied everything, they didn't leave empty-handed.

If Barry was truly innocent, he wouldn't have let things slide when the cops showed up. That was a sign of a guilty conscience.

After Harry left, Ambrose said, "Lilian's part of our Kelly Family. We won't let those who hurt her get away with it. If you need any help, just let us know. And keep us updated."

He nodded and turned to leave.

Jackson stepped forward. "Mr. Kelly, wait."

Ambrose stopped and looked back at Jackson, who frowned and asked, "How does the Kelly Family plan to deal with Anouk?"

Anouk had taken Lilian's place and was raised with the Kelly Family's love. Now that Lilian was back, Anouk's existence was the biggest injustice and threat to her.

"This is a Kelly Family matter. You don't need to worry about it," Ambrose replied with a distant smile.

But Jackson said in a serious tone, "Lilian grew up with the Frane Family. We have the right to ask about this. When the Sivan Family found out about the child swap, they abandoned Lilian. York did everything to make sure their real daughter wasn't wronged. Lilian's suffered so much because of Bob. Anouk is the original sin. Does the Kelly Family still expect her to come back and tolerate the daughter of the culprit?"

If that was the case, Lilian would probably feel let down when she got back to the Kelly Family.

Ambrose looked at Jackson. "Lilian is Ophelia's real daughter, the true princess of the Kelly Family. We'll make up for all the love we've missed out on over the years. Mr. Frane, don't you trust us?"

It wasn't that Jackson didn't trust Oberon and Ambrose, but Anouk had been spoiled by the Kelly Family for twenty-three years. Could they really be cold enough to abandon her?

After all, when Lilian was found not to be the Sivan Family's child, she was only six years old.

Six years versus twenty-three years made a big difference.

"Mr. Kelly, you keep dodging the question. Can't you give me a straight answer?" Jackson's eyes narrowed, a cold glint in his gaze.

Ambrose then smiled. "Didn't you already send two people to the Kelly Mansion yesterday? The things they said were at your behest, weren't they? I thought you were already confident about the direction of this matter."

That day, Anouk was shunned in Lilian's hospital room and got scolded by Oberon.

Anouk left the hospital in tears, turned off her phone, and went back to Mystic Meadows to pack her things.

Before Oberon and the others could return, Anouk, along with two maids, flew back to Seaspring Valley City.

Anouk thought that by leaving in such a heartbroken and angry manner, Oberon and Ambrose would be anxious to find her. Then they would feel sorry for her as they always did, and in their worry, they wouldn't pursue her mistakes but would only think about how to coax her back home.

But when she landed in Seaspring Valley City, although Ambrose called her, he not only didn't show concern but also scolded her.

However, Kenneth and Ruby were still in Seaspring Valley City, and they continued to pamper Anouk as always.

So, when Oberon and Ambrose rushed back to Seaspring Valley City, Anouk was throwing a wild party at the Kelly Mansion.

Oberon was furious on the spot, kicked everyone out of the party, and took out the test results.

Oberon also discovered that the person who had forged Anouk's paternity test was their butler, Neil.

Neil had been with the Kelly Family for many years and was deeply trusted by Oberon. When Oberon sent Anouk's DNA sample for testing, Neil was fully responsible.

Neil said that Flora was already senile at the time, and Oberon was deeply affected, his health deteriorating.

Neil was worried that if Oberon knew Anouk wasn't his biological granddaughter, it would be a blow he couldn't recover from, so Neil forged the paternity test results.

Oberon had already kicked Neil out of the Kelly Mansion. At that time, Anouk collapsed, crying and begging him to keep her.

She said many touching things, and Kenneth and Ruby were deeply moved, suggesting that Anouk was innocent and should stay with the Kelly Family.

Seeing Anouk cry like that, how could Oberon not be moved and soften his heart?

After all, she had been his pampered granddaughter for twenty-three years, and Oberon, being older, was more prone to soft-heartedness.

But it was at that moment that Jackson sent two people all the way to The Kelly Mansion.

Those two were Bob's neighbors, and they were brought before Oberon to vividly describe how Lilian had been tortured by Bob, verbally abused and neglected by Mary, and used as a shield against Bob's anger when she was with the Young Family.

Oberon was almost infuriated to the point of fainting.

"They were telling the truth, but I didn't instruct them to say those things," Jackson said coldly.

Ambrose nodded. "Grandpa has already decided to send Anouk abroad. She should be on the plane by now. But unfortunately, Mr. Frane, I won't be telling Lilian about what you've done."
