Chapter 123 A Polite Refusal
Lillian couldn't believe it. "I'm not wearing any clothes or shoes!"
She was carried out in her pajamas by him, and now he was about to abandon her halfway.
Jackson sneered coldly. "You can choose to apologize."
He was waiting for her to beg for mercy.
However, the next second, Lillian, who had been glaring at him and refusing to get out of the car, suddenly turned around, opened the car door violently, and jumped out.
She even slammed the car door very loudly.
Jackson's face turned ashen, and his hands clenched on his knees.
The driver, Floyd, got into the car, and Jackson coldly ordered, "Drive!"
Floyd was also an old employee of the Frane family and advised, "Mr. Jackson, this road is very dark. Ms. Lillian is dressed lightly. She didn't even bring her phone. And the weather outside is pretty harsh..."
Jackson coldly interrupted, "It was her own decision to get out."
Floyd wondered if Jackson meant for him to get out and persuade Ms. Lillian.
At this moment, outside, Lillian had already turned around and started walking in the opposite direction, and the temperature outside the car dropped at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Lillian hugged her shoulders, unable to block the cold wind.
The autumn night was chilly, and the nightgown she was wearing was very thin, only reaching her knees in length.
She walked barefoot on the road, which was cold and hard.
But she didn't want to go back and beg Jackson. She wasn't without temper, so she wouldn't let him knead and squash her as he pleased.
There was the sound of the car leaving and something being thrown out behind her.
Lillian turned back, and the car kicked up a pile of fallen leaves, with a blanket lying on the ground.
He probably thought her things would dirty his car.
Lillian hesitated for a moment, turned back, shook the blanket, and wrapped it around herself.
She started walking back. Raindrops fell through the cracks in the leaves above her head, and she quickened her pace.
She calculated that the car hadn't gone far, and she could make it back to Central Park West in half an hour.
It was fortunate that the weather was bad today, there weren't many people on the road. Otherwise, she would be mistaken for a madwoman walking barefoot with disheveled hair and wrapped in a blanket.
A car drove past her from behind, honking its horn.
Lillian's nose tingled, and she walked even faster.
Someone got out of the car, caught up with her, and grabbed her.
"Lilian."
"Aren't you leaving? You jerk."
Lillian turned around, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face.
But she quickly stiffened her expression because the person in front of her was not Jackson, but
Barry.
"What's going on? Forget it. Stop talking. Get in the car first," He looked down at her feet and said.
In the car.
Barry turned on the air conditioning, handed a towel to Lillian, and said gently, "Wipe yourself."
Lillian's hair was wet, and she took the towel and wiped it, "Why were you here?"
"I have another apartment on Central Park West, and I also live here."
Lillian was taken aback. "Did you just get off work?"
"Yes, I had two car accident patients brought in when I was off work, so I had to perform two surgeries and got delayed until now."
Lillian nodded, not saying anything for a moment with her eyes downcast.
Most of her interactions with Barry in the past were about Max and mostly in the hospital.
But Barry's recent actions made Lillian feel different.
Barry knew Jenny and had two apartments on Central Park West. He was not a simple guy.
Central Park West was far from the hospital, why did he live here? Lillian couldn't help but think more.
"By the way, the rental contract is ready." Barry opened the storage box in the driver's seat and handed her the contract.
Lillian didn't take it and said with a smile, "Barry, Shirley, and I discussed it, and we think this place is a bit far from Shirley's school. We are looking for a new house and plan to move out in the next few days. Thank you for your hospitality."
Both were smart people, and Barry understood that this was her polite refusal.
