Chapter 398 Cry Like A Baby
Lillian's eyelashes were wet like she was hiding a world of hurt in her eyes.
Jackson had no clue what kind of nightmare she had or why she suddenly asked that.
He touched her curled lashes, still damp with tears.
The moisture clung to his fingertips, and he rubbed them together.
Jackson said softly, "Yeah, I made you take birth control because I didn't want a baby."
Lillian's eyes filled up, and her nose turned red.
Even though she already knew, hearing it from him broke her heart.
Seeing she was about to cry again, Jackson hugged her awkwardly and said, "Don't overthink it. Back then, I just didn't want a baby yet, not never."
Lillian asked, "But why?"
Jackson frowned and said, "Why else? You're still a baby. How can you be a good mom?"
Lillian wasn't satisfied with his answer and glared at him. "That's nonsense! I'm already 22. Why can't I be a mom?"
Jackson raised an eyebrow and chuckled. He pinched her cold, tear-streaked cheek and smiled. "You cry like a baby."
"That's because you made me mad!" Lillian shot back.
Jackson chuckled. "To me, you'll always be a baby. Besides, don't you know about your own health?"
Jackson thought Lillian was still too young and wanted to wait a few more years before having a baby. After all, she was only 22, and most girls her age were still in college.
Plus, he misunderstood that she had drugged him four years ago to dodge marrying into the Hall Family.
To him, her impulsiveness showed her immaturity.
When Lillian heard him say she'd always be a baby in his eyes, she felt a mix of shame and a secret happiness.
She bit her lip and asked, "Is there something wrong with my body?"
She didn't quite get what he meant by his last words.
Jackson lowered his head, his warm breath tickling her ear, and said huskily, "You're too immature. The scar is still there. If you can't handle me, how can you handle a baby?"
Lillian hadn't caught on yet, but when she realized he was referring to the scar in her private area, she felt so shy and embarrassed, her body blushing.
The first sex they had flashed before her eyes. That night, Jackson wasn't in his right mind and was really scary.
Lillian had just come of age then, and the difference in their sizes made it impossible for her to feel any pleasure, only tearing and pain.
When she woke up in the morning, there was a lot of blood on the bed.
Lillian had to get stitches and stay in the hospital, leaving a scar.
But she never had the guts to look at that scar herself.
Lillian thought, 'How does Jackson know the scar is still there?'
She lowered her head in a mix of shame and anger. "You're lying. It's been four years. It should've healed by now!"
Lillian knew she wasn't someone who scarred easily.
Jackson chuckled and gently bit her earlobe, whispering, "How do you know it's gone? Have you looked?"
Lillian thought, 'The scar is in a very private place. How could I have seen it? I'm not a pervert!'
She instantly got angry and pushed Jackson away. "I haven't!"
"If you haven't looked, you have no say. I know better than you."
This meant Jackson had seen it, and Lillian immediately felt embarrassed and ashamed.
She covered Jackson's mouth, not letting him speak anymore.
Jackson's chest rumbled with a few muffled laughs, clearly enjoying her embarrassed reaction.
With his mouth covered, his lips still moved slightly, and a muffled voice came through her fingers. "Lillian, it's not that I don't want you to get pregnant. I just can't bear it."
Jackson was away last night, and this morning, a short stubble had grown, casting a faint shadow. As he laughed, the stubble scratched Lillian's palm, causing a tingling itch.
Lillian pulled her hand back, her heart racing, and glared at him with forced courage. "Even so, you can't just say that if there's a baby, it should be aborted!"
Jackson pressed his lips together and grabbed Lillian's hand, intertwining their fingers. "At that time, I had just learned about Jeffrey's condition and had our blood samples sent abroad for comprehensive genetic testing. Actually, a member of the Wright family also had leukemia, and his condition was very severe. He passed away before he turned 20."
Lillian wasn't very clear about this. It was the first time she had heard about it.
Stunned, she asked, "Did you suspect the disease is genetic?"
Jackson nodded. "Yeah, I was afraid my genes might carry a recessive disease gene and wanted to check it thoroughly. The test results hadn't come out yet, so I said those things."
Lillian's face turned pale instantly, she tightly held Jackson's hand in return, asking, "Have the test results come out now?"
Jackson lowered his head and gently kissed Lillian's trembling lips. "Don't worry. Taylor will be very healthy."
Their test results were good, and Jeffrey's leukemia was not caused by a genetic defect.
Lillian changed the subject and asked with concern, "By the way, when did you come back last night? Was Susan's surgery successful?"
She felt that Jackson was in a good mood, guessing Susan might be safe and sound.
