Lillian stopped abruptly, feeling a lump in her chest.
They had just applied for a divorce, and Jackson couldn't wait to inform Wendy.
Even though she strongly desired the divorce, she didn't want to turn around and see Wendy right after applying for it.
At the very least, she should receive the respect she deserved from Jackson today.
"If you were so eager, you should have agreed to me earlier." Lillian mocked with a smile and took a step to leave.
However, Jackson grabbed her wrist and asked, "Do you think I asked them to come?"
Lillian didn’t answer and just pulled her hand away.
She said, "Let go of me. We are getting divorced. Mr. Frane, please behave yourself."
As soon as she spoke, Jackson put his arm around her waist and pulled her into his arms.
"What are you doing?" Lillian exclaimed.
She struggled, but Jackson whispered in her ear, with a hint of malicious teasing, "I need to remind you that we have applied for a divorce, but we are not officially divorced yet. So, you are still my wife!"
Lillian gritted her teeth. Unable to break free, she gave up struggling.
At this moment, Daisy and Wendy had already approached.
"Jackson, have you two divorced?" Daisy suppressed her joy, frowned, and looked concerned.
Jackson looked at them coldly. "Why are you here?"
"I was returning to the Frane Mansion today and happened to see Terry going back to get some documents. I was worried, so I followed him. Wendy was also very concerned, so we came together."
Jackson scoffed.
Daisy's expression turned sullen. She thought that Jackson was disrespecting her and mocking her.
However, Lillian knew that Jackson's mocking laughter was directed at her because she felt that his grip on her waist tightened.
Lillian realized that she had indeed misunderstood him. Since he was angry, she didn't want to provoke him further and just stayed in his arms.
Besides, Lillian didn't want to see her gloating as she saw Wendy so eager and excited,
"Jackson, both you and Lillian should think more before acting. Being a couple is not easy. Many couples may not love each other, but they can still understand and support each other. Lillian, is it because of me? You have misunderstood. There is nothing between Jackson and me, and I have no intention of replacing you."
Wendy did better in acting that Daisy did. She teared up and looked sad as if the divorced person was her.
Watching these two pretending to be sad, Lillian suddenly thought a naughty idea, and then she smiled slyly.
She snuggled up to Jackson, hugged his waist, and interrupted Wendy, "I’m so touched. You can rest assured. Because Jackson can't bear to part with me and tried to keep me in front of the mediator, we haven't divorced yet. I have decided to give Jackson another chance."
In an instant, the expressions on Wendy and Daisy's faces froze in shock.
Lillian burst into laughter. "Sorry for deceiving you. Look at how scared I made you."
Daisy's expression turned angry as she shouted, "Lillian!"
Tears welled up in Wendy's eyes, and she even held onto Daisy, trying to maintain her pretense, saying, "Lillian was mad at me, so she played a joke on me. Please don't be angry, Daisy. If you get upset, it's all my fault."
Not wanting to witness their acting anymore, Lillian pulled her hand away from Jackson's embrace and left, waving her hand dismissively. "Things are settled. You can do as you please. I won't stay any longer."
She walked away without looking backing at Daisy and Wendy again.
Jackson coldly watched Lillian's carefree back. His hand by his side was slightly clenched, and his handsome face was distant.
