Chapter 220 Jackson Got Jealous
Terry's polite yet distant demeanor caused Wendy to stop in her tracks. As she spun around, she caught sight of Jackson holding Lillian's hand and walking off in the opposite direction, leaving her standing alone.
Wendy was furious and wanted to follow, but just then, the door to the ward opened, and Shirley emerged, drying her hair.
Shirley had been hit with rotten eggs to help Lillian, so she was tidying up in the bathroom.
Shirley spotted Wendy at the door and quickly approached her, grabbing her by the arm. "Why are you sneaking around here? Are you the one who informed Mary, attempted to throw rotten eggs at Lilian, and attacked her in the live broadcast room?" Shirley accused.
Wendy shook off her hand and retorted, "What the hell are you talking about? I have no idea what you're saying! I came to visit Max and unexpectedly encountered a problem. Don't make false accusations against me! If you have evidence, call the police. Stop yelling incessantly. Your thinking is too simplistic. Have you forgotten the lesson of being detained in a cell last time?"
The tables had turned. The tall man who had been live streaming didn't even attempt to retrieve his phone and fled while clutching his stomach. The individuals who had thrown the eggs had disappeared without a trace.
Wendy obviously thought Shirley and Lillian wouldn't be able to get any evidence, hence her calm demeanor and mocking tone.
Little did she know, Shirley's eyes lit up as she nodded. "That's right. I will call the police now. After all, the man who was live streaming just now, his phone is still in my hands. I wonder if the police can trace it back to the person behind the scenes."
Wendy's expression stiffened, and she cursed the man in her mind.
How could he lose his phone to Shirley during the livestream?
Shirley saw Wendy's unpleasant expression and called the police promptly.
Meanwhile, in the parking lot, Lillian was dragged by Jackson into the car, much to her anger.
“Jackson, why are you getting involved in my family's affairs? I need to take Max overseas for treatment. Please don't interfere! I can't risk my reputation with the Garcias' greed!”
Lillian believed that Jackson's support for the Garcia family was motivated by a desire to avoid criticism for appearing heartless and unsupportive of his ex-mother-in-law, Mary.
She felt that he cared more about his reputation than about her, but she was willing to work with him.
With red eyes, Lillian stared angrily at Jackson beside her, almost resorting to physical violence.
Despite her agitation, Jackson stayed calm and replied, "I'm not going to assist them. I simply suggested that Max should remain in the country.”
Lillian frowned her brows as she asked, "What do you mean?"
With a cold glint in his eyes, Jackson replied, "Lillian, it looks like you haven't taken my words seriously. I've mentioned that I will bring in better doctors to treat Max, and I've also explained that Barry is more complex than you perceive, which is why I've kept you at a distance from him. Are you disregarding my instructions?"
Jackson tightened his grip on Lillian's wrist, causing her to stumble into his arms.
Her nose collided with his chest, eliciting a sharp pain and bringing tears to her eyes. Glaring at him with anger, she exclaimed, "Jackson, you have no right to dictate who I spend time with! I am with Barry now, and we are not only planning to go abroad together but also...
Before Lillian could finish her sentence, Jackson's large hand covered her cheeks, silencing her.
She shot him an angry glare, unable to speak, while he returned her gaze with a storm brewing in his eyes, coldly remarking, "If you're not worried about me harming Barry, then keep talking!" His demeanor resembled that of a jealous husband who had caught his wife in an affair. Lillian looked at him in disbelief, her eyes darting back and forth, before falling silent.
