Chapter 569

But Jackson had just told her that he had remembered her long before she could even recall.

The melody flowed through the quiet hospital room, and Lillian's heart felt heavy and sour.

It was as if he was carefully gathering up the pieces of her heart she'd tried to throw away. Their roles seemed to have reversed, with him now waiting for her to return.

After a long while, she finally stepped forward and sat down by the bedside.

Lillian looked at Max lying in the hospital bed. Her cheeks flushed, and a shy smile touched her lips.

"Max, did you hear everything?" she asked. "I'm sorry, did I disturb you?

"You must be laughing at me, being a mom and still crying so much.

"Max, what should I do? I think I still love him. Should I trust him again?"

In the car. Jackson, with a cold expression, sat in the back seat and instructed Harry, who was driving, in a deep voice. "Have you found anything unusual about Bob's release from prison?"

Harry shook his head, glanced at Jackson through the rearview mirror, and quickly looked away.

Although Jackson's face was expressionless and his demeanor unchanged, Harry inexplicably felt that Jackson was in a bad mood.

But logically, having just seen Lillian and spent so much time alone with her, his mood shouldn't have worsened.

"We didn't find any signs that the steel frame collapse was orchestrated," Harry said. "It's been fourteen years, and many of the wardens and prison guards who handled Bob's case have been reassigned.

"The new warden, who was transferred from Seaspring Valley City last year, is unaware of Bob's relationship with you. Jovan, who was familiar with Bob's case, had a relapse of an old injury recently and has been recuperating at home, so the information wasn't relayed to you in time.

"The new warden called the day before yesterday to apologize, saying it was a lapse in his duties and he wanted to invite you to a meal to apologize in person when you have time."

Harry reported that based on the current findings, Bob seemed quite lucky, with no abnormalities discovered.

"Should we continue investigating?" he asked.

Jackson closed his eyes and said coldly, "No need. Bob forged the paternity test. He's not Lillian's biological father. So, what he did to Lillian back then isn't just domestic violence. Take direct action and make sure he stays in prison for good this time."

Jackson had preserved the evidence of Bob's abuse of Lillian, including injury photos, medical reports, and witness testimonies.

Because the penalty for domestic violence was too light, he had set up other traps to send Bob to prison.

Now that Bob wasn't Lillian's biological father, it wasn't domestic violence but intentional harm and child abuse.

Jackson wanted Bob to continue paying for his past actions.

"Understood, I'll handle it in person," Harry responded.

Jackson opened his eyes and instructed, "Before sending him in, interrogate him thoroughly. Also, investigate Lillian's background."

Harry replied, "The hospital where Mrs. Frane was born closed down eight years ago, and the medical staff have long since dispersed. It might take some time."

Upon hearing this, Jackson raised his hand to rub his temples and simply said, "Don't let Lillian know about this yet."

He wanted to find Lillian's family first and then decide whether to tell her based on the situation.

Lillian had suffered too much with the Sivan family and the Young family. If her biological family was also bad, he didn't want her to be hurt again.

Harry agreed. After dropping Jackson off at the company, he went to handle Bob's matter.

Harry thought it would be simple since he had already assigned a bodyguard to watch Bob secretly.

But when he arrived, the bodyguard was unconscious on the ground, and Bob was nowhere to be found.
