Chapter 642

After checking her out, the doc figured Lillian's coma wasn't from her injuries. It was all in her head. He suggested her family and friends chat with her more.

That was when Jackson realized Lillian didn't have many people she really cared about.

Since she joined the Frane family at eight, the closest ones to her were Jackson and Lyra.

But Jackson and the Frane family had hurt her the most.

He and Lyra couldn't wake her up, so he called Shirley and Kevin. They talked to Lillian for ages, but nothing changed.

Shirley mentioned that Flora and Lillian were tight and used to video call every day. She thought Flora should give it a shot. So, Jackson called Ambrose.

"What happened to her?" After a pause, Ambrose's voice was full of worry, with a hint of accusation.

Jackson's grip on the phone tightened, his voice rough. "She's in a coma, Mrs. Kelly..."

"I'll bring Grandma over right now." Before Jackson could finish, Ambrose agreed immediately upon hearing Lillian was in a coma.

Then, without waiting for Jackson to thank him, the call ended.

Even through the phone, Jackson could feel Ambrose's worry and concern.

Jackson's chest felt heavy. He loosened his tie, but his breathing was still labored.

Just then, there was a knock on the door. His eyes brightened a bit, and he quickly opened it.

"Is Lillian awake?" he asked.

But it wasn't a servant with good news. It was Terry, with a psychologist in tow. "Mr. Frane, Dr. Martinez is here to see you."

Rafael was the top psychologist in Miracalia. She had a calm and gentle vibe, wore rimless glasses, and had her hair in a simple low ponytail. She gave Jackson a slight smile.

Rafael said, "I've already seen the patient. Now I need to ask you a few questions, Mr. Frane, and I hope you can answer honestly."

Jackson turned around and said, "Go ahead."

Rafael followed Jackson inside, and they sat across from each other on the sofa. Rafael opened her notebook, looking very professional. "I need to know everything that happened before the patient fell asleep, especially the last thing she heard and who said it."

Jackson frowned. He didn't want to bring up what happened at the Price Mansion.

"Is this important?" Jackson asked.

"Absolutely. The info she got before falling asleep could be why she won't wake up. I need to treat her based on that."

Jackson's eyes darkened as he stared at Rafael, who responded with a gentle smile.

Jackson started talking. The story wasn't complicated, and five minutes later, Rafael said, "She probably won't wake up because she's heartbroken. She might also think that if she wakes up, you'll keep imprisoning her. She might have chosen to stay asleep to avoid that."

Rafael's words made Jackson's already pale face even paler.

"So, you're saying she won't wake up because she doesn't want to face me, and that's why she's staying in a coma?" Jackson's gaze was cold and terrifying. Even though Rafael had dealt with many patients, she broke out in a light sweat under his stare.

"I'm suggesting you tell her you won't force her anymore. She should be able to hear you. Right now, she needs hope. You need to make her feel hope and a reason to live."
