Chapter 116 Indulging in Desire in the Dark
Jeffrey angrily grabbed Lillian and said, "Lillian, let's go inside quickly."
Being pulled by Olivia and Jeffrey, Lillian entered the haunted house. Jackson wanted to follow but was stopped by Wendy grabbing his arm.
"Jackson, I'm a bit scared. Can you take me with you?"
Jackson frowned. "Did Gray ask you to come?"
Wendy shook her head, supported her belly, and said in surprise, "No, there are more children here on weekends. I'm pregnant and about to become a mother, so I just wanted to come and see the children, to feel what it's like to be a mother."
She looked at the cup of milk in Jackson's hand. "Jackson, I can't drink cold drinks, can I have the cup in your hand?"
Jackson didn't usually drink things bought by strangers, so he handed it to her.
Thinking about Lillian's childhood experiences and how she never played in haunted houses, he realized she might be scared, so he didn't ask Wendy any more questions and followed her inside.
The haunted house had a hospital theme, with a morgue at the entrance.
The smell of disinfectant and cold blue light, along with the scattered bloodstains everywhere and NPCs that could pop out at any moment, was incredibly exhilarating.
Lillian was indeed a bit scared. She regretted entering just because she disliked Wendy.
"Are you scared? It's okay, hold onto me."
Nathan smiled, pulled Lillian's sleeve, and placed her hand on his shoulder.
Lillian withdrew her hand, forced a smile, and said, "Keep an eye on Olivia and Jeffrey, don't get separated. I'll be fine."
She may not be so timid.
But just as she finished speaking, a terrifying flash of light passed by, causing everyone around to scream and run.
Lillian also lowered her head in fear and ran along with the crowd without looking back.
She ran into another room and reached out to grab Jeffrey in front of her.
"Jeffrey, don't run around!"
The one who had just run ahead was Jeffrey, but when the light flashed, Lillian saw a ghostly child's face.
The child's right eye was missing, leaving a bloody hole, while the left eye stared at her with a greenish glow.
She screamed in fear, pushed the hand away, and ran, but turned around and bumped into something.
Not knowing what it was, she screamed again, flailing and grabbing.
"Lillian!"
Jackson's familiar deep voice sounded from above, calming Lillian's nervous heart.
She looked up and said, "Jackson?"
"It's me. Since you're scared, why did you run in? You're foolish!"
Jackson hugged Lillian and pressed her small face against his chest. His big hand gently stroked through her hair as he led her forward.
Smelling his familiar scent, Lillian suddenly felt at ease and lifted her head slightly.
"Jeffrey is missing."
Jackson had just seen Nathan taking Jeffrey and Olivia. Jeffrey was brave and not afraid of haunted houses.
He wasn't worried, so he leisurely protected Lillian and said coldly, "Where's your friend? How could he leave you behind and run away?"
Lillian retorted, "What about your crush? When she sees this, she'll be heartbroken and have stomach pains again. Let go of me, I'm fine."
She hadn't seen Wendy.
Jackson chuckled coldly. "Wendy isn't as foolish as you. You knew it was fake but still got scared. You look so pale that you could scare away the NPCs, why are you still running?"
His words were harsh, but they warmed Lillian's heart.
With Wendy's melodramatic personality, even if she wasn't scared, she would cry and cling to Jackson.
Now, with Jackson by her side and Wendy nowhere to be seen, had they gotten separated, or did Jackson not actually like Wendy that much?
Thinking this, Lillian stayed in Jackson's embrace. Unconsciously, they walked to the exit of the haunted house.
People from different paths converged at the exit, causing a sudden crowd.
Jackson shielded Lillian in his arms, his tall figure forming an impregnable barrier around her.
In the crowded crowd, Lillian indulged in desire and reached out to hug him.
But at that moment, he suddenly let go of her.
He left her side. His tall figure parted the crowd as he walked quickly in a certain direction.
Suddenly losing her protection, Lillian was stepped on, her body swayed, and she fell forward.
