Chapter 572
Ambrose shot Lillian a look, one eyebrow cocked.
"Glad you're feeling sure of yourself."
Lillian's face went beet red.
She'd been hoping Ambrose hadn't caught her little brush-off, but nope, he totally did.
Super embarrassed, Lillian stammered, "Uh, well, I won't keep you then. Maybe another time, I'll treat you to dinner."
She turned to leave, but felt a tug on her sleeve.
Lillian glanced back, and yep, it was Flora again, but this time with tears in her eyes, looking all lost and sad.
"Ophelia, where are you going? Aren't you coming home with me?"
Seeing Flora about to cry, Lillian was at a loss.
She looked to Ambrose for help. He stepped forward, wrapped Flora in a hug, and gently said to Lillian, "My grandma's got you mixed up with my late aunt Ophelia. Don't sweat it."
Flora wasn't having it and smacked Ambrose's arm.
"Ambrose, don't think I can't tell you're talking smack about me!
"I didn't mistake her. This is Ophelia, and she's pregnant with Anouk. How come she isn't your aunt?"
Lillian remembered Jackson mentioning it before.
Oberon and Flora had only one daughter, Ophelia, who passed away early on.
He once said she looked like someone super important to him, and it seemed he was talking about Ophelia.
"Quick, say hello to your aunt!"
Flora kept pushing Ambrose. Lillian wanted to tell Flora she wasn't Ophelia but didn't want to upset her.
As she hesitated, Ambrose, to make Flora happy, actually called out, "Hi, Aunt Ophelia."
Lillian stayed quiet.
Seeing the helpless look on Ambrose's handsome face, Lillian's eyes sparkled with amusement.
Ambrose gazed at her, pretending to be mad, squinting his eyes, then smirking a bit.
Just then, a young woman in a red dress hurried over.
"Grandma, why are you wandering off! I just gave someone directions, and you vanished!"
The woman stepped forward and pulled Flora away.
Flora was still clutching Lillian's sleeve, making Lillian stumble, but Ambrose reached out and steadied her.
"You okay?" Ambrose asked, looking down.
Lillian shook her head slightly, and Ambrose, with a serious look, said to the woman, "Anouk, you're being really rude."
Flora shook off Anouk's hand, angrily saying, "Don't pull me, I want to be with Ophelia!"
She said this and went back to Lillian, gripping her sleeve tightly.
Anouk, feeling wronged by both Ambrose and Flora, looked at Ambrose with a pout and said, "Ambrose, I'm just worried about Grandma. There are so many people at the airport. If Grandma runs off and gets lost or runs into trouble, what then?"
