Chapter 710

Max felt a sense of relief and looked at Lillian with a smile in his eyes.

Jackson treating him this way indicated that during his coma, their relationship must be pretty good.

With Jackson taking care of things, Lillian probably hadn't suffered much over the past two years.

"Thank you." Max looked at Jackson again and said slowly, word by word.

Max was very sincere. After speaking, he glanced at Lillian beside him.

Jackson understood that Max's thank was not only for taking care of him over the past two years but also for treating Lillian well.

However, the harmony and love between him and Lillian were just for Max to see.

Thinking about Lillian's experiences over the past two years, Jackson felt ashamed and couldn't meet Max's sincere and grateful eyes.

Jackson swallowed, then slightly raised his lips and changed the subject, speaking warmly, "The doctor has already checked your body thoroughly; there's nothing serious. I'll hire the most professional rehabilitation team. You'll recover soon."

Lillian had already poured a glass of water. Hearing this, she glanced at Jackson. She was still in a daze from Max waking up and hadn't thought about hiring a rehabilitation team. To her surprise, Jackson had already thought of it.

Lillian's fingers tightened slightly around the glass. She wasn't heartless.

Facing Jackson, she always reminded herself to remain calm, but she couldn't resist being touched by his kindness.

Lillian hold the glass and bent down, saying, "Max, drink some water slowly."

But Jackson took the glass from her, "Let me do it."

Lillian looked at him, and Jackson indicated, "You can just raise the bed."

His voice was calm, but his tone was unquestionable.

Lillian and Max had no blood relation, so how could Jackson let her take care of Max as she did before?

Lillian understood his meaning. Thinking about Bob's death and Mary's poor condition, she didn't know how to tell Max about these. She had things on her mind, so she didn't insist and left Max to Jackson's care.

However, Max didn't have much energy. After drinking a little water, he soon fell asleep again.

Lillian and Jackson left the ward, and she said to him, "Thank you for your kindness, but there's no need to trouble you with the rehabilitation team. I will..."

Before she could finish, Jackson raised an eyebrow and interrupted her, "Max just woke up, and you're already eager to kick me out. Aren't you just using me and then discarding me?"

Lillian fell silent for a moment. She could only purse her lips, "I just don't want to keep troubling you."

Jackson said, "Whether it's trouble or not is for me to decide. If I enjoy it, it's not trouble."

By this time, they had reached the elevator. The elevator opened, and a patient's family member came out with a food box.

Jackson instinctively reached out to shield Lillian, turning his back to the person.

Lillian smelled the familiar woody scent on him and looked up to meet his deep eyes. Her heart skipped a beat.

"Suit yourself," she chuckled lightly, pushed Jackson away, and entered the elevator.

If he insisted, she couldn't stop him.

Jackson watched her slightly annoyed yet helpless back, feeling a little amused.

As they were about to part ways after leaving the hospital building, Jackson's phone rang.

He answered, "Grandma."

It was Lyra. Lillian instinctively paused.

Jackson looked at her and replied to Lyra, "Yes, she's here. We're still together."

Apparently, Lyra had asked about Lillian.

Jackson said, "Grandma, hold on. I'll ask her."

Lillian looked inquiringly.

Jackson explained, "Solon and Chloe had a fight, and it reached Grandma. She knows you're back in Miracalia and wants you to come for dinner."

Lillian had been in contact with Lyra during her four months in Seaspring Valley City, but she hadn't told Lyra about this return, not wanting to disturb her.

She had planned to visit Lyra in a couple of days after settling down, but she didn't expect Lyra to find out because of Jenny's family. She wondered if Lyra would overthink.

Seeing Lillian not speaking, Jackson said warmly, "If you don't want to go, it's okay. I'll explain to her."

He thought Lillian didn't want to return to the Frane Mansion, as it held too many memories for them.

Lillian smiled, "I was just thinking that the gifts I prepared for Lyra are still at Mystic Meadows. I need to go get them."

Jackson relaxed his tense lips. "I'll go with you to get them."

Lillian nodded, and they went back to Mystic Meadows. By the time they reached the Frane Mansion, an hour had passed.

The car slowly passed through the gates of the Frane Mansion, which hadn't changed in decades.

Lillian felt a mix of emotions looking at the familiar surroundings.

She remembered the day she left, Ambrose holding her, Lyra tightly gripping her hand, weak and sorrowful.

Now, the feelings stirred by Jackson over the past two days were instantly frozen like a cold front.

Then Lillian noticed many cars in the courtyard. Seemed like there were guests at the mansion.

However, knowing she was coming, Lyra, who always considered her feelings, shouldn't have invited others.

With doubts, Lillian followed Jackson into the foyer.

The large living room fell silent instantly. Everyone looked over, and Lillian was slightly surprised to see who was sitting there. They were all Frane family members.

Solon's family was present: Martin; Solon, with scratches on his face; Chloe, with swollen eyes and slap marks; and Jenny, who had a terrible expression. The two younger ones were absent, as they were studying abroad.

Lyra sat in the middle of the couch. Seeing Lillian, she immediately smiled and stood up. "Lillian! My dear, you finally came to see me. I've missed you so much!"

Lyra, with her silver hair, moved quickly, bypassing the table and waving away the helping hands, reaching out to Lillian.

Lillian, afraid she might fall in her haste, ran a few steps and hugged Lyra. "Lyra, I missed you too."

Lyra laughed, "Not as much as I missed you. Without you, even food doesn't taste good. Look, my hair has turned white from missing you."
