Chapter 724

Lillian glared ahead, not having time to ask Jackson what was going on before he had already gotten out of the car.

Immediately, the car door was opened, and Lillian's arm was gently grasped.

"Ambrose's symptoms look like acute gastroenteritis. I know a massage technique that can relieve the pain. You go to the front, and I'll take care of him." Seeing his serious expression, Lillian believed him.

As Lillian leaned to get out of the car, Ambrose said, "No need to trouble you, Mr. Frane; we'll be at the hospital soon."

"It's no trouble!" Jackson said in a deep voice, directly pulling Lillian out of the car and taking her place next to Ambrose.

"You're Lillian's brother. We're all family, no need to be formal." Jackson's deep eyes narrowed as he stared at Ambrose. Lillian might be too naive to see through it, but he wouldn't be easily fooled by Ambrose.

Even if Ambrose was really unwell, how could a man who had been through so much be so weak and helpless from a little pain?

Ambrose met Jackson's deep gaze, a cold glint like shattered ice in his eyes. "Mr. Frane, you're mistaken. You're a Frane, and we're Kellys. We can't be family."

Jackson smiled slightly, "Mr. Kelly, as long as you know your are Lilian's brother, that's all that matters."

The two men exchanged sharp words, and the back seat was instantly filled with an invisible tension from their clashing male auras.

The car started moving again, and Lillian turned her head from the front passenger seat, frowning at Jackson. Her tone was slightly cold. "Didn't you say you knew how to massage? Go ahead then."

Lillian could see it now; she had clearly been tricked by Jackson again.

Jackson being jealous was one thing, but at a time like this, delaying because of his disregard for Ambrose' health was too much.

Facing Lillian's cold gaze, Jackson felt a bit guilty and frustrated.

'Ambrose's the one acting first. Why is she so biased!' Jackson felt wronged, but he didn't dare to say anything.

Suppressing his disgust, he grabbed Ambrose's hand and pressed hard on the spot between his thumb and index finger, asking with a cold smile, "Mr. Kelly, does this help?"

Ambrose's handsome face was slightly pale. Indeed, it helped; because the pain was shifting to his hand.

Ambrose smiled slightly. "Very effective, it seems to hurt less already."

After saying that, Ambrose couldn't bear it any longer and shook off Jackson's hand.

No one spoke for the rest of the ride, but fortunately, they soon arrived at the hospital.

After registering for the emergency room, Ambrose was diagnosed with gastroenteritis triggered by alcohol.

As the nurse administered an IV to Ambrose, Lillian stood by the bed, gently wiping the sweat from his forehead with a tissue, disapprovingly saying, "What kind of business engagement was it that you had to drink even though you knew you shouldn't? Your stomach was just getting better, and now you've ruined it again!"

Lillian frowned slightly, her expression showing obvious concern.

In the past four months in Seaspring Valley City, Ambrose had shown her a lot of care and warmth. With Oberon and Flora easing the relationship, Lillian and Ambrose were no longer distant.

Lillian genuinely saw Ambrose as family, treating him with the same unconditional kindness and warmth as Oberon and Flora.

Seeing her like this, Ambrose felt incredibly conflicted.

On one hand, he was happy about Lillian's concern, but on the other, he felt a sense of loss and helplessness.

Because Ambrose didn't see any romantic feelings in Lillian's clear eyes; he knew her concern was purely familial. Just like her feelings for Max.

If this continued, Ambrose feared she would start seeing him as a brother, leaving him with no chance at all.

Ambrose raised his hand and quietly held Lillian's hand. "It wasn't really a business engagement. I went to Dr. Beck Graves' place. Grandpa's migraines still haven't been cured. Beck doesn't have many hobbies, but he loves wine. I had a couple of drinks with him, and I didn't expect this to happen."

Oberon had a problem with migraines. The last time he came to Miracalia, it was to see Beck for treatment.

But Beck had long since stopped treating people. Last time, it was Beck's student who treated Oberon.

The treatment was effective, but Oberon still had occasional episodes, and they had become more frequent this month than last.

When Lillian arrived in Miracalia, she had people inquire about Beck's whereabouts, but there had been no leads so far.

Hearing that Ambrose had ended up like this because of this matter, she felt even more heartbroken and guilty.

She felt she was a very unqualified granddaughter.

Lillian said, "You actually met Beck? Why didn't you tell me? You should have called me over. I could have drunk with him. I'm really good at it!"

"Really? I didn't know you could hold your liquor so well," Ambrose said, his eyes filled with indulgent amusement.

Lillian raised her chin slightly, her demeanor a bit arrogant. "Definitely better than you! You're not allowed to touch a drop of alcohol for a while. Also, avoid spicy and irritating foods. And next time you go to see Beck, you have to take me! Well, Ambrose, are you trying to outshine me and make me look bad? How sneaky!"

Ambrose could tell Lillian was deliberately teasing him. His chest heaved slightly, and his usually composed face broke into a smile, like a spring breeze melting an icy lake. "It is just a coincidence today. I'll definitely call you next time."

As they chatted, they didn't notice Jackson standing at the door, radiating cold fury.

"Jackson, don't be impulsive! Calm down, or you'll drive Lillian away again."

"Jackson, don't be impulsive, or you'll drive Lillian away again." Mike saw the veins bulging on the back of Jackson's hand as he reached for the door handle, his whole body exuding a murderous aura, and quickly grabbed Jackson's arm.

Mike's new girlfriend was here for a check-up, and Mike had run into Jackson, so he came along to see what was going on.

Jackson had just stepped out for a little while to make a call and arrange the ward.

Unexpectedly, he returned to find Ambrose holding Lillian's hand.

They were chatting and laughing, and the worst part was, Lillian hadn't pulled her hand away.

"Let go!" Jackson said through gritted teeth to Mike.

Mike felt that if he let go now, Jackson would rush in and break Ambrose's hand. "Jackson, you should calm down before going in, or Ambrose will win easily."

Jackson glanced into the ward again, relieved to see that Lillian had already pulled her hand out of Ambrose's grasp.

Jackson closed his eyes briefly and released his grip on the door handle.

He turned to Mike again. "I remember your grandpa and Beck have been friends for many years. Your grandpa's birthday party is coming up. Beck will be there, right?"

From the conversation inside the ward, Jackson had vaguely heard what Ambrose and Lillian were talking about.

Mike understood that Jackson was planning to help Lillian reach out to Beck through his grandpa.
