Chapter 526 Take the Blame
Susan lifted her head and stared at Lillian. Her eyes were cloudy and unfocused, resembling murky, stagnant water, which made them particularly unsettling.
Thinking of Susan's malicious intentions, Lillian instinctively shuddered.
Jackson's large hand, which was gripping Lillian's wrist, slid down and held her hand tightly.
He then impatiently lifted his foot, pressing his shiny leather shoe firmly on Don's knee.
Don's body trembled and twisted in pain. He lifted his head, suddenly reached out, grabbed Susan, and cried out hoarsely.
"Aunt Susan, it was you who ordered me to take people abroad to assassinate Mrs. Frane! You are the mastermind! You are the mastermind!"
He grabbed Susan. Although she couldn't see, she smelled the strong scent of blood and felt its stickiness.
She could imagine what Don looked like now.
Her face showed fear and anger as she struggled and sharply denied it.
"Don! Think carefully before you speak. If your mom finds out you did something wrong and pushed the blame onto me, how heartbroken she must be!"
Dominic also stepped forward and said in a deep voice, "Don! Your dad died early, and for so many years, the Price family has supported you and your mother. I've treated you like a son, and this is how you repay us? How disappointed your mom would be if she knew."
Dominic and Susan, in their words, were using Sable to threaten Don.
Don grew up with Sable and had a deep bond with her.
Don's face showed struggle as he covered his face and sobbed, filled with regret and hatred.
Jackson watched coldly, his eyes full of mockery, without urging or interrupting.
He wanted to see what shameless things they would do to escape punishment.
It was unclear if Star's silence was from fear or another reason, as she just knelt there, tears rolling down her cheeks.
She suddenly raised her head and exclaimed, "It's me, it's all my fault. Everything was for me. I'm the one who deserves to die the most!"
She crawled a few steps on her knees, came in front of Don, and blocked everyone, grabbing Jackson's pant leg.
She looked at Jackson with a broken plea and raised her voice. "Jackson, everything started because of me. Let me go to jail alone. I begged Don..."
Before she could finish, Susan interrupted urgently, rushing over to pull her away.
"Star! What nonsense are you talking about? How can you say such things? Why are you always so foolish!"
"Mom, I can't just stand by and watch you all go to jail because of me. I can't do it! If only I hadn't come back, none of this would have happened. It's all my fault."
Star and Susan hugged each other. Star was crying bitterly, while Susan tightly closed her eyes, her face dark.
Star's reaction and words brought Susan back to her senses.
Attempting to force Don to take the blame in front of Jackson would be futile and only deepen Jackson's disgust and disappointment with the Price family.
Susan let go of Star, lifted her withered hand, and tremblingly wiped the tears from Star's face.
She slowly stood up from the ground, her legs weak and staggering, supported by Dominic.
She pushed Dominic away, faced Jackson, and said, "That's right, I instructed Don to do that. Because as long as Lillian is around, you can't marry Star, can you?"
