Chapter 221 Barry Was No Good

Lillian moved her head slightly and furrowed her brows.

Seeing her quiet down, Jackson let go of her. He noticed a slight red mark he had pinched on Lillian's delicate cheek.

He furrowed his brows and said in a deep voice, "Have you thrown away all your good temper?"

Lillian pursed her lips, "Yes, thanks to you." She wasn't wrong in saying this; indeed, all her previous obedience had been given to Jackson.

Just as he was feeling a headache, he suddenly heard Lillian say, "Are you jealous?"

Jackson's eyes flickered slightly, but when he gazed at Lillian, he raised the corners of his thin lips and said, "We haven't finalized the divorce yet.”

Lillian, feeling resentful, asked, "So, after a month, I can be with Barry. Is that what you mean?"

Jackson felt his temper rising at her once again. He spoke coldly, "Lillian, you belong to me. Even if I don't want you, no one else can lay a hand on you. If they do, they will have to face the consequences.”

His hidden message was that Lillian shouldn't fear any consequences with Barry and could provoke him if she wanted.

"Honestly, you always seem to disapprove of me being with him. Is that jealousy?" Lillian locked eyes with Jackson, feeling her heart race.

Jackson pursed his thin lips and said, "Whatever you think, the bottom line is, Barry is no good."

He remained composed and unaffected by the revelation. His demeanor was calm and indifferent. He simply advised her against being with Barry, likely due to some past conflict between them.

Recalling Jackson's numerous warnings about Barry, Lillian's heartbeat gradually returned to normal. She chuckled self-deprecatingly "Barry is great."

Jackson sneered coldly. "You don't even know what his family does, what his identity is. Can't you discern his intentions towards you? It wouldn't be surprising if he betrayed you overseas."

Lillian responded, "I'm just friends with Barry. He doesn't have to disclose those details to me.

Observing Lillian's lack of interest, Jackson taunted her once more, "He intends to secure Max a spot at the medical research institute he established through his funding. Do you still believe he has no hidden agenda?”

"What? How is that possible?" Lillian was surprised. Barry had clearly stated that the medical institution was jointly established by several hospitals in the Phantom Kingdom.

Jackson felt a heavy weight on his chest as he realized that Quinn only trusted Barry and doubted everything he said. In frustration, he tossed a document in front of Lillian.

Frowning, Lillian glanced at it and saw that it detailed Jackson's investigation into the research institute of the Phantom Kingdom, with Barry's name prominently listed as one of the investors.

To run this medical research institute, maintain its operations, and develop drug outcomes, it costs tens of billions annually. Lillian, do you still think he's a good person?"

Jackson sneered. Holding the document, Lillian felt a heavy heart. She hadn't anticipated things unfolding this way. Seeing her silent and head bowed, Jackson softened his tone and said, "I'll take care of Mary. You can trust me with Max's affairs. He'll remain in the hospital for now. I'm here, so don't worry. Have you considered whether Max can handle a long flight? Can you bear the consequences if something goes wrong?"

Patients may struggle with long flights, and adjusting to a new environment in a foreign country can be daunting. These factors cannot be overlooked.
