Chapter 383 Explanation

Lillian didn't realize that she had stepped back to the edge of the bed.

She gasped, and as her foot missed the edge, her body tilted. She was about to fall off the bed.

Jackson moved like a leopard, swiftly leaning forward to catch her and pull her back.

The next moment, they both fell onto the bed.

Lillian landed on top of Jackson, who held her protectively.

She was shocked and breathing heavily. When she came to her senses, she began to struggle again.

Jackson tightened his embrace around her waist and suddenly said, "I admit that on that snowy night, when I saw you beaten and bruised, I thought of Star. And I admit that the first orange candy I gave you was Star's favorite."

Hearing this, Lillian felt as if her heart was being torn apart, and she couldn't hold back her tears, which streamed down recklessly.

Each tear, filled with her grievances and heartbreak, fell directly onto Jackson's forehead, nose, eyelids, and lips.

Jackson frowned and kissed her sorrowfully, comforting, "Don't cry. Listen to me!"

"No, I don't want to hear it. If you love Star so much, just tell her about your deep love. She would love to hear it and be very moved. Don't tell me about these things. I don't want to be a witness to your love!"

Lillian covered her ears and clumsily climbed off Jackson, trying to escape.

But as soon as she took a step, Jackson grabbed her around the waist and pulled her back.

He made her sit on his lap, wrapped one arm around her waist, and forcefully pulled her hands away from her ears, kissing them as he said, "You fool. How could you be a substitute? When Star disappeared, we were both not even twelve years old. At that time, we didn't even understand what love was."

Jackson didn't think he looked like someone who could talk about love at just over ten years old. After all, he had always heard people say he was cold and emotionless. He thought Lillian really overestimated him.

"What do you mean?" Lillian stared blankly at Jackson and asked.

Jackson tightened his grip on Lillian's hand, pressing it against his heart, and said, "Star, in my heart, is a childhood friend."

Lillian was stunned once again. This was the answer she had longed to hear for so long, but she felt a bit dizzy, unsure whether to believe it.

"Even if you don't believe my words, Star is six years older than you, and your personalities, looks, and interests are very different. How could I possibly see you as her substitute?" Jackson tapped Lillian's head with his finger, continuing, "How did I not know before that you have such a vivid imagination?"

Lillian felt a slight pain from his tap, but it made her feel clear-headed and grounded, as if she weren't dreaming.

She bit her lip and said, "But those injuries on you weren't fake, right? You said yourself last time that you got hurt looking for someone. Weren't you talking about Star?"

"It was her," Jackson admitted.

Lillian felt painful again and commented despondently, "Sure enough, you've been looking for her all these years."

Even the Prices didn't go to Averlake for news about Star and hadn't searched for her for so many years.

Lillian remembered clearly that the year Jackson went abroad, Henry took his exams as usual and attended college in Miracalia.

If Jackson was so open, why didn't he mention Star when he talked about the Price family?

Star had been found for so long, yet he kept it a secret, not letting her know.

Lillian clenched her fists tightly, thinking, 'I won't believe him easily. I don't want to foolishly fall into his lies again.'
