Chapter 329 I Didn't Mind
Police station?
Jackson couldn't take it anymore and said coldly, "Spit it out."
"Lillian helped catch two human traffickers and saved a woman. She went to the police station to assist with the investigation and just left about ten minutes ago," Mike explained clearly.
After hearing that, Jackson turned to leave.
Mike raised an eyebrow and smiled, calling out to his back. "Jackson, Lillian is really something. I'll send you the video later, for free."
At the police station, Lillian cooperated with the police to make a statement. Coincidentally, the person she saved turned out to be Nathan's cousin, Ava.
Ava was completely unconscious at the police station, possibly drugged by Ryan and Luke. The police had just taken a blood sample for testing.
After finishing her statement, Nathan, who was supporting Ava, said hurriedly, "Thank you so much today. If it weren't for you, Ava would have been in trouble. I didn't even know she sneaked off to Miracalia."
Ava leaned against Nathan, her disheveled hair pushed aside, and Lillian finally saw her face clearly.
She looked about 24 with heavy makeup but quite pretty. No wonder she was targeted.
Lillian waved her hand with a smile and said, "It's what I should do. How is Ava?"
"Don't worry about her. She should learn her lesson. Please wait here for a moment. I'll find someone to take you home." Seeing Lillian's weary expression, Nathan was about to make a call.
Nathan still had to wait for the police's test results and couldn't leave yet.
Lillian quickly said, "No need. I'll just take a cab back. You take care of Ava."
As she was about to turn and leave, she saw a tall and imposing figure in a gray mid-length trench coat and a British-style striped suit walking towards them.
He walked against the light, making it hard to see clearly, but his presence demanded attention.
Lillian's heart raced as Ambrose approached, his face becoming clear.
Ambrose was very handsome, with deep-set features that were striking but not overly sharp, a restrained kind of attractiveness.
Lillian breathed a sigh of relief after finding he wasn't Jackson. She was about to look away when she heard Nathan call out, "Ambrose, you're here."
Lillian realized he was Ambrose Nathan had mentioned. He came to handle the situation.
She didn't stay and quickly walked away with her head down.
"Ambrose, it was Lillian who saved Ava. She was just standing there, but now she's gone," Nathan looked at the spot where Lillian had been standing and said confusedly.
Ambrose had also noticed Lillian there. He turned to look down the hallway.
He only saw a slender, graceful figure walking away in the distance.
Lillian left the police station, looking down at her phone when a car horn sounded.
Lillian instinctively looked up and saw a familiar black car parked a few steps away.
The rear window was half-lowered, and the dim night made Jackson's stern profile look even more severe and cold.
A powerful sense of oppression emanated from Jackson, even from a distance.
Lillian felt inexplicably guilty and scared, probably a lingering effect of being controlled by him since childhood.
She walked over slowly, opened the car door, and got in.
"Why are you here?" Lillian asked proactively. She felt a bit worried about Jackson's injuries as he had left the hospital.
After she got in the car, Jackson suddenly turned to look at her coldly and questioned, "Is this what you call not feeling well?"
Jackson was furious!
Lillian was stung by his cold, sharp gaze, her nose turning red. She was about to mention her visit to the hospital when Jackson suddenly grabbed her chin and mocked coldly, "Pretending to be sick to go out and play, Lillian, is this how you act as Mrs. Frane when I'm not in the country?"
She thought, 'Play? I was clearly just doing my job, celebrating achievements and sharing honors with my colleagues. How did it become so unpleasant in Jackson's eyes? Does he really see me as such a cheap and self-disrespecting woman, unworthy of his defense and respect?'
Lillian turned her head, trying to shake off Jackson's grip. "I just came from the police station after doing a good deed, not because of any misconduct. I..."
Before she could finish, Jackson thought of the video Mike had sent him where Lillian was almost taken away by Ryan and Luke, feeling an urge to lock her up.
He interrupted her coldly, "You're pregnant, running around these chaotic places. Instead of reflecting, do you even think you're justified? Should I give you a medal for bravery to honor your heroic actions?"
Lillian's chin hurt from his grip. She was already exhausted and didn't want to argue anymore, so she said lightly, "Do as you please. I don't mind."
She pulled Jackson's hand away, leaned back in the seat, and closed her eyes.
