Chapter 77 Mr. Jackson in Love

Without even a glance, Lillian knew it was a piece of jewelry. A soft chuckle escaped her lips as she swiftly picked up the brocade box, hurling it towards Jackson. Unbeknownst to her, the box struck Jackson's arm wound with uncanny precision, causing him to wince slightly.Lillian's face flushed with a hint of embarrassment, her body momentarily lifting from the seat. However, she quickly regained her composure, settling back into her chair. "Stop pretending! It's just a brocade box. Anyone would think I'd struck you with a brick!" she retorted.Despite her feigned indifference, she served herself a bowl of oatmeal. Jackson's annoyance was palpable, but the necessity of nourishment overruled his irritation.

Besides, the baby needed sustenance too. A smug satisfaction filled her heart as she thought to herself, 'Baby, Mommy avenged you by hitting him.'Her triumph was short-lived, however, as she noticed the crimson stain spreading across Jackson's light gray wool sweater. "Why are you bleeding? Stay still, I'll fetch the first aid kit," she exclaimed, her spoon clattering onto the table as she rushed out of the room.Upon her return, she carefully unwrapped Jackson's bandage. Thankfully, the wound hadn't split open, merely oozing a bit. As she reapplied the medicine and rebandaged his arm, her worry was evident. "What did the hospital say about the blood test results last time?" she asked, her voice laced with concern. The wound had been lingering for half a month and still hadn't completely healed, which was unusual.Jackson looked at her, his voice laced with sarcasm, "This is rare, you caring about me."Lillian retorted, "You're mistaken. I was just checking if you had some terminal illness so I could prepare to inherit your billions.""Well, don't bother. The blood test results were fine, no issues," he replied nonchalantly, his casual demeanor only serving to heighten Lillian's worry. On her way to work, she dialed Terry to ask about Jackson's injury. Terry's voice was heavy as he explained, "The initial results didn't show anything, but the doctor said they needed to send the blood sample abroad for a more detailed analysis. It will take a few more days for the results to come back."Lillian's palms grew clammy. If everything was fine, why would they need to send the blood sample abroad for further testing?
Terry's next words only added to her anxiety. "Ms. Lillian, Mr. Jackson doesn't like to be taken care of and tends to ignore his injury, but I'm a bit worried about him. So please keep an eye on him to ensure he takes his medication and changes his bandages.”Even if there was no love left between her and Jackson, he was still family.
There was a bond that couldn't be severed, especially since his injury was related to her.
"I understand," she replied. After hanging up, Terry glanced at the rearview mirror. "Mr. Jackson, Ms. Lillian seems worried and her tone has changed. If you continue to deceive her like this, she will be even angrier when she finds out."Jackson, engrossed in his documents, didn't lift his head at Terry's words, but a slight smirk played on his lips. "If you don't say anything, she won't know. Keep your mouth shut!"Jackson's arm had become inflamed and pus-filled because he had dived into the deep sea to rescue an injured diver while overseas, soaking in seawater for too long. He had cleaned the wound before returning to the U.S. Terry was unsure why it hadn't healed in the past few days, but he knew Mr. Jackson was stronger than a bull.

After a moment's hesitation, Terry said, "Mr. Jackson, I believe sincerity is the key to winning a woman's heart."Jackson raised his gaze to meet Terry's, a challenge in his eyes. "Lillian just called to check on me," he retorted. "If my memory serves me right, your girlfriend hasn't reached out since you returned to the country, has she?"Terry fell silent, unable to counter Jackson's pointed remark.Jackson's lips curved into a slight smile, a rare display of emotion. He was different, he realized. Lillian cared for him. She had not only nursed him through his drunken stupor the previous night but had also shown him a vulnerability, a joy akin to a kitten's playfulness. Her eyes had welled up with concern when she noticed his arm hadn't healed in the morning.Despite their disagreement earlier, she had called Terry, her concern for him still evident. Terry stole a glance at Jackson, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets in surprise. What had gotten into the CEO? Why was he behaving like a smitten teenager? Terry blinked hard, but the moment Jackson's icy gaze met his, he recoiled in fear. It was a terrifying sight. He must have been mistaken. When Lillian arrived at the Mermaid-themed restaurant, she spotted Sean, the man who had been a thorn in her side during their last encounter. Dressed in a pristine white suit, he looked every bit the modern prince charming, a bouquet in his hand as he approached Lillian."These are for you, Ms. Lillian. I hope they bring a smile to your face," he said, extending the bouquet towards her.A few restaurant staff members behind him cheered, but Lillian, staring at the bouquet made entirely of cash, was rendered speechless."For me?" she managed to ask."Yes, if they please you, I can have them delivered to you every day!" Sean misinterpreted Lillian's shock for delight and pushed the bouquet closer.Lillian sidestepped his advance and nodded, replying, "Then I'll use this money to request that you refrain from appearing before me again, okay?" With that, she quickly retreated into the restaurant.Sean's smile froze on his face, embarrassment washing over him. Elowen Nelson, a waitress dressed in a maid's uniform, approached him."Mr. Sean, Lillian is quite the proud woman. She may not appreciate these flowers, but I certainly do. Would you consider giving them to me instead?" Elowen was an attractive woman, and under normal circumstances, Sean would have welcomed the attention of such a beauty. But ever since he met Lillian, she was all he could think about. He had a rare treasure within his grasp, and ordinary gemstones paled in comparison."Get lost!" he snapped, his frustration evident.Elowen, unable to bear the humiliation, ran off in tears.Unbeknownst to them, this entire scene was witnessed by Wendy from a car parked across the street.
