Chapter 562

Jackson spoke with conviction, his gaze cold and arrogant, exuding confidence.

Lillian, however, felt that Jackson didn't understand her at all.

When did they grow up together?

The one who grew up with him was Star.

When had they ever truly been in love?

All she experienced was his indifference during their marriage, making her endure the pain of waiting.

Unable to bear it any longer, Lillian turned to Barry. "What are you doing here?" she asked.

"A junior I know just got a job here. I was passing by and came to congratulate her," Barry replied.

Lillian smiled and nodded, but felt increasingly awkward.

She hadn't had much private contact with Barry, and his visit to see the junior probably meant he wasn't interested in her anymore.

Lillian jabbed Jackson in the ribs, annoyed with him.

Jackson, however, stiffened, a flicker of surprise crossing his handsome face.

He felt that Lillian's light nudge went straight to his heart.

Recently, she had been very resistant to physical contact with him. Even this nudge was only because she couldn't stand it anymore!

Jackson's deep eyes sparkled like stars for a moment. He leaned down and whispered in Lillian's ear, "Lillian, you're willing to touch me again! Don't stop there," he murmured, his voice husky.

Lillian was baffled by his strange, excited behavior.

She turned to glare at Jackson, quickly greeted Barry, and then walked away briskly.

Jackson didn't spare Barry another glance and quickly followed Lillian.

He smiled slightly, one hand in his pocket, leaning towards her, and spoke to her as they walked.

Barry turned and watched their figures walking away side by side.

Seeing Jackson's lazy and playful smile, and Lillian's lively expression despite her troubled look, they seemed like an ordinary couple having a minor quarrel.

Barry's hand, hidden under his coat, suddenly clenched tightly.

'Lillian, will you eventually forgive him?'

'Even though he has done so many things to hurt you, why do you still only have eyes for him and refuse to look back at me?'

When Lillian and Jackson arrived at Max's hospital room, Terry had just arrived as well.

"The recorder was found in the bag of a patient's family member in the urology department on the tenth floor. The surveillance shows that Mary bumped into this family member when she got out of the elevator. She probably took the opportunity to slip it in then."

Jackson handed the recorder to Lillian and asked, "Is this the one?"

Lillian nodded, eagerly turning on the recorder.

Mary didn't want the recorder to fall into her hands, so it must have recorded something important.

As she turned on the recorder, Mary's voice rang out. "Bob came back, and he hit me again. You're my own child, wake up and help me.

"Forget it, you're useless too. If you wake up, the first thing you'll probably do is snitch to Lillian.

"Tell her she's not a child of the Young family at all.

"Wendy disappeared, the Sivan family declined, and you're still in a coma. Lillian doesn't care about me at all. I raised three children, and none of them are useful. I don't even know where your biological sister is.

"Two years ago, if you hadn't eavesdropped on my conversation with Heroic and insisted on running to tell Lillian, would you have gotten into that car accident?"

Lillian listened to Mary's sharp and harsh words, gripping the recorder tightly.

It turned out she wasn't a child of the Sivan family, but she wasn't a child of the Young family either. Max had the car accident on his way to tell her this secret.
