Chapter 847

If Jackson didn't care, he wouldn't have made such a fuss.

Moreover, it was Jackson who rushed to save Lillian himself. She'd been out cold for two days, and Jackson hadn't left her side, not even to sleep.

Shirley wasn't heartless either. Seeing all this, she couldn't help but be touched.

Lillian listened to Shirley and glanced toward the door.

Noticing her eagerness, Shirley stood up and said, "Alright, since you're okay, I can relax. I'm heading back to catch up on my beauty sleep. Gotta look my best if I'm gonna be a big star."

Shirley touched her face, looking worried, and waved as she left.

Lillian smiled and touched her face, wondering if she looked awful after being unconscious for two days.

She decided to get out of bed, but as soon as her feet touched the ground, she realized how weak she was from not eating for two days and nights.

Her legs gave out, and she started to fall forward.

Instead of hitting the ground, she was caught securely in someone's arms.

Jackson's voice was filled with helplessness. "I leave for one second, and you're already causing trouble?"

As he spoke, Jackson lifted Lillian into his arms.

She looked up to see that Jackson had quickly cleaned up, even shaving his stubble.

Maybe he had looked too scruffy before, but now Lillian found herself a bit dazzled by his appearance.

She wrapped her arms around Jackson's neck and nuzzled his shoulder affectionately.

"You're not mad at Shirley, are you?"

Jackson raised an eyebrow. "Why would I be mad at her?"

Lillian sighed in relief, but then Jackson added, "She's not my concern. I only get mad at my girlfriend."

His tone was filled with endless frustration and grievance.

Lillian bit her lip to hold back a smile and tilted her head slightly, "Your girlfriend just escaped a dangerous situation, and she's so cute and pretty. Mr. Frane, would you really be mad at her?"

Jackson looked at her lively expression, but his mind flashed back to when he pulled her unresponsive body from the car and the past two days of her lying pale in the hospital bed. He felt that her waking up was the greatest blessing, and he couldn't bear to be angry with her.

Jackson carried her back to the bed, placing her gently down before saying, "You just love to mess with me."

Lillian chuckled. As Jackson was about to step back, she hooked her arms around his neck again and kissed him.

Her lips brushed against his, and she whispered, "Making up for the kiss that got interrupted."

Jackson's breath hitched, and he was almost immediately ignited with passion.

However, just as he was about to deepen the kiss, the door was knocked on and then pushed open.

At the door stood Ambrose, followed by a servant from Mystic Meadows carrying a thermal food container.

Ambrose clearly hadn't expected to walk in on this scene twice. He wondered if he was opening the door wrong. He instinctively turned to close the door, but Lillian, blushing, had already pushed Jackson away.

"Ambrose."

Jackson, mindful of Lillian's condition, was annoyed at the interruption but still said, "Come in."

He stepped aside, signaling the servant to come forward.

Lillian hadn't eaten in two days and nights. Although the servant wanted to showcase their skills, Lillian could only eat something light.

They had prepared porridge and a few light, refreshing side dishes.

Jackson pulled up a chair next to the bed and personally fed Lillian.

Ambrose sat on the nearby sofa, and the servant hadn't left yet. Lillian felt a bit embarrassed being taken care of like a child.

After eating a bit, she felt a bit stronger and reached out her hand, "I can do it myself."

She wasn't completely helpless, after all.

But Jackson's eyes darkened slightly, "Don't push yourself."

He scooped another spoonful of porridge, blew on it, and brought it to her lips, coaxing, "Come on, princess, open up."

The servant's muffled laughter could be heard nearby, and Lillian's cheeks turned even redder.

She glared at Jackson, signaling him to tone it down, and then looked at Ambrose.

Ambrose's expression was calm, and he even gave her a reassuring look. To ease her embarrassment, he spoke up, "Don't worry, your grandparents don't know about the past two days."

Lillian, not seeing Oberon and Flora when she woke up, figured Ambrose had kept it from them to avoid worrying them.

She was about to thank him when Ambrose continued, "But the commotion was big. Even though there was no news coverage, most of the upper society in Miracalia will know about it. The news can't be kept from your grandfather forever. But since you're awake now, it'll just be a false alarm when he finds out."

Otherwise, he couldn't imagine the consequences.

Of course, since this incident involved Kenneth and Ruby, it couldn't be kept from Oberon forever.

"Right, let's not tell Grandpa yet. I'll video call him when I'm feeling better."

Lillian nodded. She felt she had eaten enough and looked at Jackson.

"Full?" Jackson had been quietly listening to their conversation.

Now, meeting her gaze, he smiled and asked as if he were a gentle, considerate, and understanding wife.

Startled by her thought, Lillian blinked and looked at Jackson again. Seeing his slightly cool eyes, she shivered.

How could he look like a gentle wife? It must have been her imagination.

Lillian swallowed, "Maybe I should eat a bit more?"

Jackson, however, tossed the spoon back into the bowl, "Forget it."

What did he mean? Lillian thought Jackson was being petty again.

He was probably upset that she had been chatting with Ambrose and not focusing on the food he was feeding her.

Lillian reached out and tugged on Jackson's suit sleeve, "Feed me a bit more, please. I'm really not full yet."

Her coaxing tone seemed to please Jackson. His eyes finally showed a warm smile.

He took a napkin and dabbed at her lips before saying, "It's better not to eat too much for the first meal. If you get hungry later, I'll have Peggy make your favorite Italian dumplings."

Lillian's eyes lit up immediately.

Peggy's Italian dumplings were amazing, very fresh. Lillian had loved them since she was a child. But now that Peggy was older, she mostly just kept Lyra company, chatting and strolling in the garden, rarely cooking.

Seeing her eager expression, Jackson's smile deepened.

Ambrose, sitting there, felt a sense of being an outsider.

He watched the scene, his eyes gradually shifting from sadness to acceptance.

In the past, their relationship had always seemed on the verge of breaking, giving him hope.

But now, things were different.

He could see that they deeply loved each other and their relationship was unbreakable.

"By the way, Ambrose. Was the car accident an accident or a deliberate act? Have you found out anything?"

Ambrose was lost in thought, feeling a bit melancholic, when Lillian's voice brought him back.
