Chapter 317 Was He Waiting for Me?

Seeing Jackson leave, Barry spoke apologetically.

Lillian bent down to pick up Barry's coat from the ground, dusted it off, and handed it to him. She looked at the bruise on his face and said, "Barry, I'm sorry. I'm apologizing on behalf of my husband."

Barry took the coat, clearly understanding the distance in Lillian's words.

He felt a pang of sadness in his heart and asked, "Lillian, have you decided to go back?"

He had also noticed the change in how Lillian referred to Jackson.

Lillian felt a bit embarrassed, but she met Barry's gaze and nodded. "Barry, I've loved Jackson for over ten years, and now that we have a baby. I can't let him go."

Barry's hand, which had been hanging by his side, suddenly clenched tightly. He felt a dull pain and bitterness in his heart.

He thought, 'Lillian, do you know I have also silently liked you for many years? From high school until now, I have spent my entire youth liking you.'

However, looking into Lillian's clear eyes, Barry couldn't bring himself to say these words.

In the end, he didn't want to trouble her too much, and he was afraid that if he said these words, they wouldn't even be able to remain friends.

Finally, a warm smile appeared on his handsome face as he said, "I'm not that fragile, and a punch is nothing. Besides, Mr. Frane didn't use his full strength. He was probably just jealous."

Lillian thought, 'Is Jackson Jealous? I don't think so. It is more likely just Jackson's possessiveness. If he's jealous, would he have left Barry and me here and walked away by himself?'

Lillian wore a wry smile and changed the subject. "Barry, what are you doing here?"

She remembered that Barry had already submitted his resignation to this hospital and left.

Barry elaborated, "One of my former patients had a situation, and the new doctor wasn't very familiar with his medical history. I happened to be free, so I came to take a look."

Lillian nodded. She knew Barry was a very responsible doctor.

"Have you given up on studying abroad? You should consider it carefully," Barry suddenly said.

A woman trapped in marriage would only wither and fade away.

Moreover, it was not easy for Lillian to stand by Jackson's side.

Lillian was a bright pearl, and Barry hoped she would shine, not willingly hide in the cage Jackson had built for her.

Lillian smiled and said, "Don't worry, Barry. Studying abroad is something I worked hard to achieve. I have no intention of giving it up."

Seeing that she had made up her mind, Barry didn't say more. Instead, he smiled and said, "Philip is getting old. Would you be interested in visiting him sometime?"

In high school, Lillian had saved Philip, but she couldn't keep him, so Barry took him in.

Lillian didn't expect Philip to still be alive. She nodded excitedly. "Sure! I'd love to. Barry, contact me when you have time."

After saying goodbye to Barry, Lillian walked towards Jackson's ward. As she turned the corner, she suddenly stopped.

Not far ahead, a tall figure stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, a cigarette between his long fingers.

Jackson slowly exhaled a cloud of smoke, his face gloomy and cold, his figure appearing lonely.

The once noble and composed Jackson was now so lonely, which was still quite moving.

Lillian stood there, her heart skipping a beat.

She thought, 'Is he waiting for me?'

Lillian's nose tingled, and she didn't dare to approach.

She was afraid it was an illusion and that he didn't really care about her.

Or maybe he was standing there, not waiting for her at all.
