Chapter 616

"Where's that car?"

"That car had fake plates, and it's a pretty common model, so it's tough to track. But Bob gave us a rough idea of where he ditched it. We're still checking the surveillance in the nearby hoods. It's all factories around there, but we should nail it down soon. It's just that..."

Harry hesitated, and Jackson shot him a sharp look.

Harry went on, "It's just that we haven't found any properties in that area linked to the Price family."

Jackson wasn't happy with that.

He crumpled the document in his hand, frustrated.

If these leads were dead ends, they'd have to rely on the trap set at the hospital to catch something.

Jackson had kept Bob's death under wraps and set up a trap, then made a big show of being pissed off in front of Dominic and Star.

The plan was to rattle them, make them think Bob had spilled some big secrets, and push them into making a move.

But so far, the folks tailing Dominic and Star hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary.

"Oh, and here's the surveillance footage from outside the hospital nursery you wanted."

Harry handed Jackson a tablet.

Jackson had heard about some drama between Lillian and Star outside the nursery, so he had Harry pull the footage.

He watched as Star, all dolled up in a flashy red dress, strutted towards Lillian with her servant, blocking her path over and over.

Jackson's eyes went cold. "I don't want to see them in this hospital again!"

Was he really gonna kick the Price family out of the hospital?

Harry sighed, thinking the Price family had probably pushed Jackson's last button this time.

Jackson was done with them.

"Alright, but they might not play ball."

Just then, Jackson's phone rang.

It was Lyra. Jackson rubbed his temples and answered.

"You jerk, where did you take Lillian? Are you out of your mind?"

"Grandma, where are you?"

"I'm at the hospital, in the ward. Bring Lillian back right now! Do you hear me?"

Lyra was fuming. When she visited Lillian earlier, she was still out cold.

Lyra, still messed up from Taylor's death, had been sent back home by Jackson's people.

Feeling a bit better, she came back to the hospital to see Lillian, only to find the ward empty. The doctors and nurses were dodging her questions.

Lyra knew it was Jackson's doing.

"Grandma, I'll take good care of her. The hospital's too noisy, and she needs peace to recover. I'm not sending her back..."

"You're talking nonsense! I don't believe a word you're saying."

Lyra cut him off, and Jackson could hear her cane hitting the floor through the phone.

Jackson said firmly, "Grandma, don't worry. I've got it covered."

As he was about to hang up, Lyra's trembling voice came through, "Jackson, Lillian's already fragile after everything she's been through. If you keep pushing her, and she ends up with postpartum depression, if her mental health goes downhill, can you handle it? Think about your own mother."

Daisy had suffered from postpartum depression and almost smothered Jackson. She'd been mentally unstable for years, never quite right.

Jackson couldn't bear the thought of Lillian ending up like Daisy.

He remembered Lillian's recent breakdown, her screams and struggles, and his jaw clenched.

Cold sweat dripped from his forehead, stinging his eyes.

But then he thought of Lillian's smile, her energy when she danced.
