Chapter 1009 The Bourbon Family's Beloved
"Can't I just say a few words to Abella?" Rainey loved to argue. "I barely get any time with her. Grandpa and Grandma were hogging her just now. Why don't you tell them to go count gift cards in the corner?"
Phillipe's gaze turned stern, and Rainey quickly grabbed Abella's hand, pleading, "Abella."
'Save me! Phillipe's about to get mad at me again!' Rainey prayed silently.
Abella smiled and looked up at Phillipe. "Where did I put the Christmas gifts for Grandpa and Grandma?"
"I'll go get them." Phillipe shot Rainey a warning look before leaving.
"Abella, you actually got him to move." Rainey was in awe. "No, you didn't even ask him, and he just went. Am I seeing things, or has he changed? Is he really Phillipe?"
Indeed, Phillipe was still her brother, strict and unapproachable as ever. But with Abella, he was as gentle as could be.
"Abella, you have to protect me from now on! I'll share all my snacks with you, take you to all the fun places, and think of you first for any good things. Just keep me safe from Phillipe's clutches—no, his educational clutches."
Abella couldn't help but laugh at her words.
"Abella, your smile is so beautiful. You should smile more often," Rainey continued. "When you first came, you seemed so cool. But when you smiled, it blew me away. From today on, Elara is second in beauty, and you are first!"
"Thanks for the ranking," Abella said with a light smile.
Phillipe returned with the Christmas gifts Abella had prepared for the elders, and she handed them out personally.
Ryan, Savannah, Andrew, and Victoria each received a painting.
As for Armando and Lyric, Abella hadn't known they would be there, so she hadn't prepared anything for them.
Though they insisted it was fine, Abella went to the study and wrote a calligraphy piece for each of them.
"Abella, you're so fast," Rainey said, watching in amazement as Abella wrote a few characters.
Abella's handwriting was powerful, leaving Rainey in awe. "This is real calligraphy. What was my calligraphy teacher even teaching me?"
Seeing Abella's writing made her want to learn how to write properly.
Jerry and Elara were also stunned by Abella's talent. They couldn't believe she could produce such beautiful calligraphy in such a short time.
This was a true calligrapher, wielding the brush with skill and grace.
Once the ink dried, Abella took the pieces to Armando and Lyric, who were equally impressed and appreciative.
Around ten o'clock, it was time for Abella to go home.
Despite Ryan and Savannah's repeated invitations to stay, Abella explained, "Tomorrow is my homecoming party. I need to get back early; my parents have some final details to go over."
"Oh right, I almost forgot about the homecoming party," Victoria said, stepping forward. "We're all on the guest list, so we'll see you again tomorrow. Tomorrow, Abella will be the star of the show. We must arrive early so our princess doesn't have to wait."
"It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here," Savannah said with emotion. "Abella has finally reached the end of the hard times."
"Abella, I'll be in top form tomorrow, wearing my best and most stylish outfit to support you!" Ryan promised. "I want all the media to know that you are my approved granddaughter-in-law, the beloved treasure of the Bourbon family. No one can replace you, especially in Phillipe's heart."
"Yes, yes, tomorrow's homecoming party will be broadcast nationwide. I'll make sure to announce in front of everyone that you are the Bourbon family's and my personal favorite and most proud daughter-in-law!" Andrew added.
"Our family will also arrive early to support you," Armando said gracefully. "We'll show everyone your status in both the Bourbon and Medici families."
"Thank you, everyone," Abella said, feeling a wave of gratitude.
"Abella, can I come to Long Island Manor to see you before the party tomorrow?" Rainey asked.
"No," came a cold voice.
Rainey looked up to see Phillipe's stern expression.
Rainey didn't care and looked at Abella with pleading eyes, hoping she would agree.
"You can come anytime," Abella said, making Rainey excited.
"I'll message you before I head out tomorrow!" Rainey said, then turned to her siblings. "Jerry, Elara, let's go early tomorrow to see if Abella needs any help."
"Just don't cause trouble," Phillipe said, doubting she could be of any help.
"What are you talking about? I can help with styling, makeup, carrying things, or even holding up the dress!"
Jerry smiled warmly. "No problem, we'll go together."
Elara agreed. "Sure, no problem."
Phillipe was surprised at how quickly they had bonded with Abella, even more so than with him, their blood relative.
"See you tomorrow, Abella," Rainey said with a sweet smile, opening the car door for her and even fastening her seatbelt, taking over Phillipe's usual task.
"Goodbye, Abella," Elara said, smiling and waving.
"See you tomorrow, Abella," Jerry said respectfully.
The elders gave Abella a few more words of advice before watching her car drive away.
"Finally, some peace," Phillipe said as he drove Abella home. Seeing her still smiling, he couldn't help but smile too. "They talk a lot. If you're ever busy, you don't have to entertain them."
"Have you noticed our families are quite similar?" Abella asked.
"It's because of you that our family has this atmosphere," Phillipe corrected. "They really like you, including Rainey. She never gave Lola a good face, Elara ignored her, and Jerry only greeted her out of politeness. But they all like you."
