Chapter 657 She Is My Sister
They were seniors, elders, and Abella had the nerve to talk about them like that, totally ignoring them!
"Want my salary and benefits? Beat me first," Abella said, making everyone even angrier but too scared to speak up.
Steven stopped smiling and finally stepped in. Patrick followed, trying not to laugh.
"Mr. Medici!" As soon as Steven arrived, everyone stood up, putting on their best behavior to greet him.
Steven's presence alone commanded respect. Abella smirked, stood up, and joined the others in saying, "Mr. Medici."
Steven looked at her. "You're here?"
No one expected Steven to care about a company head who never showed up to meetings, and in such a gentle tone. Steven was never known to be easygoing! In his eyes, anyone who didn't follow the rules had to go!
Abella's seat next to Steven's must have been his doing.
"Sit." With that one word from Steven, everyone sat down, straightening up and looking at him, not daring to make a sound.
After Steven sat, he didn't say a word, just looked around the room. Some thought his silence meant he was unhappy with Abella for skipping meetings, hoping someone would bring it up so he could address it.
Nathaniel, one of the subsidiary heads, spoke up first. "Mr. Medici, before we start, I want to mention that the head of the clothing company never attends meetings, which breaks company rules and should be punished."
"I agree," said Adam, another subsidiary head. "If we don't follow the rules, the whole company will fall apart. How can we manage? How can others respect us?"
"Also, I've heard the head of the clothing company never clocks in, leaves everything to the assistant, and still gets a full salary. That's just not fair!" added Kyle, another subsidiary head.
Steven looked at the three of them and asked calmly, "Anyone else have an opinion?"
"I do."
"Me!"
"Me too!"
"Mr. Medici, I have an opinion too."
"Me too!"
Everyone except Abella raised their hands!
Patrick didn't expect them to be so bold. Once they knew who Abella really was, they'd regret it.
"Since everyone has objections, let's first welcome Abella, the head of the clothing company, as this is her first time attending a meeting," Steven said.
Everyone thought Steven's mention of "first time" hinted at his long-standing dissatisfaction with Abella.
"Ms. Medici not attending meetings was with my permission," Steven said, leaving everyone in shock.
"Her not clocking in was also approved by me," he added, stunning them even more.
"And having the assistant handle minor matters was my suggestion," Steven continued, turning their expressions to stone.
So, Steven knew everything.
"Let me introduce her. This is my sister, Abella. She'll be taking over more than half of the company's business in the future. Please take good care of her; she's still in school and can't spare much time."
Everyone was too shocked to speak. This arrogant girl was Steven's sister? They had never heard of another Medici family daughter. Was she so well-protected and groomed as an heiress that no one knew her identity? No wonder she looked so young!
Steven even said she'd handle more than half of the company's business. Abella must be incredibly capable and highly valued by Steven. She was likely the company's future leader. They had completely offended her!
Meanwhile, Abella was confused. 'When did I agree to take over more than half of the company's business? Steven decided this without asking me? And why reveal my identity now? I haven't dealt with those behind-the-scenes forces yet.'
"Before the Medici family publicly announces her identity, I don't want to hear a word about it outside. Keep it confidential," Steven said. Everyone responded in unison, "Yes!"
"Abella, say hello to everyone." Steven's eyes were gentle, completely different from before.
Everyone realized Steven's earlier gentleness was a brother's love and care for his sister! The reason Abella's seat was next to Steven's wasn't a deliberate arrangement; it was because she was his sister!
"Hello everyone, my name is Abella. Please take care of me in the future," Abella said, her eyes showing a bit of nonchalance and interest.
Seeing her expression and hearing her words, Adam's legs went weak. "Ms. Medici, I'm sorry for my earlier offense. Please forgive me."
"I was the one who offended you earlier. Please don't hold it against me, Ms. Medici. Just take it as a joke," Kyle said awkwardly, fearing Abella would target him.
"I'm really sorry, Ms. Medici, for offending you earlier. Please forgive me!" Nathaniel was extremely embarrassed. It was all his fault for speaking out of turn.
