Chapter 369 Unwavering Support

"Abella, your sister-in-law is so kind, buying all these things for you and even for us. Let me help you with that, sis-in-law. Next time, you don't need to bring anything; we're all family here," said Josie, offering to take some of the bags.

"Hey, sis, must've been a tiring trip over here, huh? Later, come by our dorm for some tea, alright? I’m not bragging, but our place is pretty cute, and Abella brought over some tea last time, and that's just fantastic. You're gonna love it. Besides, if you like Abella, you're bound to enjoy her taste in things."

While talking, Joanna also helped carry some things.

Clare could spot Camila's background a mile away, thinking, “I never expected that Ethan Medici could find such an incredible girlfriend...”

“Her family was beyond impressive...”

"Sis, let me take that," Clare said with a beaming smile, finding Camila to be genuinely open and easy to get along with.

As Abella's close friend, Clare felt a surge of happiness for her. It seemed like Abella's days were set to be even happier with such a stellar sister-in-law...

Abella, too, carried quite a few things. "Sis, next time, no need for gifts, okay? Josie’s right, we're all family here."

"I wanted to bring something for you guys~." Camila hadn't expected Abella and her friends to be so approachable. Taking the remaining presents in one hand and holding Abella's hand with the other, she chattered cheerily all the way.

When they reached the dorm, Abella brewed a cup of tea while the other roommates brought out their snacks, fruits, and sweet treats to entertain her.

This display of warmth was so overwhelming that Camila's nose tingled. She was on the brink of tears.

"Sis, want some fruit? I've been learning how to make fruit platters online. Check out this cute green grape hedgehog! Hey, sis, what's wrong? Why the teary eyes?"

"Sis, this is my favorite snack; I normally hesitate to share it with Josie. But today, you're here, and I've opened all flavors to share with you. Go on, try some... Hey, why are you crying?"

"Sis, what's up? Did the ugly shape of my snack scare you to tears? I'll get it out of your way..."

...

"No, no, it's not that..." Camila quickly wiped her tears, breaking into a smile, "I'm just so touched by all of you... Growing up, my parents were really strict. This is only the second time I've felt this kind of familial warmth..."

Everyone zoomed in on the "second time," their curiosity piqued as they chimed in.

"When was the first time?"

"No need to say; it must've been at Abella's place, experiencing her family's warmth," Clare chuckled, "You've met Abella's folks, too. They are super kind and welcoming."

"Yeah, absolutely. Mr. and Mrs. Medici are just the best. They are so warm, kind, and gentle."

"And let's not forget, they're a good-looking bunch! Sis, try these grapes; they're super sweet. I peeled each one myself."

"Sis, have some of my treats."

...

Camila, touched by the offering, accepted the fruit and pastries. After spending a good while longer in the dorm with them, it was time to head to training.

"Sis, just take a break in our dorm. I'll find you after the training, and we'll grab a bite to eat," Abella said softly, looking at Camila.

"No need, no need, I'll come with you."

Staying alone in the dorm was just too boring, and it presented a good opportunity to check on the little sister-in-law's training. If it was too exhausting, she could always have a word with the school.

As they trained, Camila sat beneath a nearby tree, noticing that their exercises were quite straightforward. It consisted of little more than marching and turns.

Compared to the brutal training at the department... it was practically child's play.

"I heard that the straight-A student is being kept by someone."

"For real?"

"Yeah, someone spotted her kissing an older man at the school gates last night."

"They say she's got a powerful backer. She's the reason the Allen sisters left the school!"

"What? Aren't the Allen family and the Bourbon family close? How strong can Abella's connections be to not even fear the Bourbon family?"

"After Lucine left, Calla did too, and I heard they both withdrew from school..."

"Who would’ve thought a straight-A student could be so petty, unable to tolerate others? Could it be that Calla and Lucine's looks threaten her status?"

...

Camila turned around to see four girls in military uniforms heading towards the school convenience store, probably to shop.

One of the long-haired girls said, "I heard she played dirty to get into the Medici family... and she even bullied Lola! So annoying! If Mr. and Mrs. Medici weren't so kind-hearted, they would have kicked her out ages ago."

Camila couldn't hold back upon hearing this. In a few strides, she confronted them, "Hold it."

The girls turned in unison, puzzled by Camila's visibly upset but beautiful face.

"Is there a problem?"

"You just said Abella schemed her way into the Medici family? What do you mean by that?" Camila was clearly annoyed, " You can mess around with food but not with words."

"Are you a friend of Abella's?" Sierra raised her eyebrows in irritation, "How do you know I'm talking nonsense? You're picking a fight for Abella with the wrong person, at the wrong place."

The three other girls chimed in,

"Do you know who Sierra is? Ever heard of the Miller family? Even city councilors have to be polite in front of her dad!"

"Yeah, who are you to talk to our Sierra like that? What do your parents do? Dare to share your name?"

"We advise you to apologize to Sierra, and we can let this go..."

"Oh..." Camila scoffed, thinking, “I was wondering who they are. It turns out they’re nobody.”
She said, "You're so clear on Abella's family affairs? Spouting nonsense like that, you know we can sue you for defamation, right?"

"Abella was never good news!" Sierra fumed, unable to fathom why this attractive girl was going to such lengths to defend Abella. She wondered, “What’s so great about Abella anyway?”

Camila was getting heated. "Are these the results of your school’s education? Scumbags like you?"

"I'm not making this up. Lola told me herself! Abella only got into school because of the Medici family's support. Her perfect grades? They're also linked to the Medici family’s backing."

After her outburst, Sierra clapped a hand over her mouth, realizing she had spilled secrets that weren't hers to share. But then she thought, why keep Lola's confidence any longer? After all, Lola was already being pushed around; it was time everyone saw Abella for who she really was!

Therefore, Sierra added, "So there's Abella, relying on her looks and good grades, sweet-talked Mr. and Mrs. Medici with their good, simple hearts into taking her as their goddaughter. She even moved in with the Medici family. Why else would she go by the name Abella Medici?"

"..." Camila could only laugh in annoyance. "Lola told you that Abella was just another charity case, somebody who sweet-talked her way into being the Medici family's adopted daughter? Is that the story?"

"Isn't that the truth?" Sierra's certainty began to waver under Camila's questioning.

"And which eye of yours saw that sly, charming persona in Abella? She's straightforward, unlike you who always beat around the bush."
