Chapter 815 Close
When Abella followed Phillipe into the cafeteria, Ramon immediately clapped his hands and raised his voice, "Everyone, please stop for a moment. Let's give a warm welcome to Mr. Bourbon and Ms. Medici!"
Everyone was visibly stunned when they saw Phillipe. They had worked at this subsidiary for a long time, but it was their first time seeing Phillipe.
The key point was that the rumored woman-averse Phillipe was holding a girl's hand, and they looked very well-matched.
"Hello, Mr. Bourbon. Hello, Ms. Medici," Many employees stood up to greet them.
Abella nodded to them, and Phillipe also spoke, "Easter is coming up soon. Everyone has been working overtime lately, and I appreciate your hard work."
"It's not hard work," Everyone responded in unison, while internally shocked. 'Oh my God, does Mr. Bourbon usually care about employees this much? Isn't he supposed to be cold and emotionless, like a work machine? How come he seems so different from the rumors today?'
"Don't be so formal, sit down," Phillipe gestured for everyone to sit.
Ramon respectfully said, "Mr. Bourbon, Ms. Medici, here are tonight's dishes. According to the standards set by headquarters, each meal offers twelve dishes to choose from, plus two soups and four types of fruit for dessert."
"Not bad," Abella looked at the well-prepared dishes. Although the environment wasn't as luxurious and spacious as the Bourbon Group headquarters, it was clean and bright.
"Thank you for the compliment, Ms. Medici," Ramon had been worried that these ordinary dishes wouldn't meet Phillipe and Abella's standards, but he was relieved to receive Abella's praise.
"Go ahead and get busy," Phillipe said.
Hearing Phillipe's words, Ramon instantly understood that Phillipe wanted to dine alone with Abella, so he said, "Mr. Bourbon, I'll be off then. I still need to buy groceries and cook for my wife and kids."
Phillipe, hearing that Ramon was a good family man, said, "The finance department will give you an extra month's bonus this month. Buy something nice for your wife and kids."
Ramon's eyes widened in surprise. The unexpected bonus left him stunned for a second before he reacted, "Thank you, Mr. Bourbon! I wish you and Ms. Medici a long and happy life together!"
He bowed and left.
Abella laughed, "You scared him just now. He thought you were here to inspect the cafeteria standards. He didn't even dare to breathe."
Phillipe's eyes held a faint smile, "Gabriel reported to me last month that this subsidiary is doing well in all aspects. The employees work hard, and the cafeteria meets hygiene standards. Every dish is made fresh by the chef. That's why I brought you here. What would you like to eat?"
"Anything is fine," Abella wasn't picky, "Do we serve ourselves the food?"
"Let me do it."
"It's okay," Abella took two empty plates and served two plates of pasta.
"Put them here," Phillipe placed the pasta on the tray, letting Abella hold onto his coat while he carried the two trays and found an empty seat.
Many employees were seeing Phillipe being so approachable for the first time.
Abella tried the roasted potatoes, "Pretty good."
She was pleasantly surprised by the cafeteria chef's skills.
"Let me try," Phillipe took a bite, "Not bad."
"Right?"
"Try these dishes too," Phillipe served her some more food.
Abella had just taken a couple of bites when her phone vibrated. It was a video call from Blake. Fortunately, there were no people at the nearby tables, so she felt comfortable answering.
"Abella? Have a meal? Let me see what you're eating."
Abella turned the camera, and Blake immediately got upset, "Phillipe, you're feeding Abella this? If I had known you were so stingy, I would have taken her to eat with me! I didn't realize you were so cheap. Abella, life with you must be tough."
"This is the employee meal," Phillipe corrected.
"Wow, you're so cheap that you brought Abella to eat the employee meal."
Abella laughed, "Blake, you have too many fans. All the restaurants outside were full. We looked for a long time and had to eat at one of his subsidiaries."
"Abella, are you complimenting me?"
Abella remained silent.
"Are you saying I have a lot of fans because I'm charming?"
"If I had known, I would have invited you both to eat backstage with me. Eating alone is no fun."
"Finish your meal. Performing a concert takes a lot of energy. Phillipe and I will come to find you after we finish eating." Abella said.
"Really?" Blake was instantly motivated, "I'm not bragging, but I can finish all this food in five minutes."
"Don't choke," Abella joked with him a bit before ending the video call.
"Blake used to be so carefree. I've never seen him care so much about anyone," Phillipe continued serving Abella food. Just as he was about to tell her to eat more, someone called.
"Ms. Medici, are you available to take a call? I have something to report."
"Go ahead," Abella listened for a while and suddenly felt that the cafeteria music was louder than the caller's voice. She stood up and said to Phillipe, "I'll take the call outside."
"Okay," Phillipe replied.
Inside and outside the cafeteria, many employees had gathered. Hearing that Phillipe was inspecting the company, many employees who had just left rushed back, just to catch a glimpse of the rumored cold and ruthless Phillipe.
Ordinary employee Annette Glenn dreamed of marrying Phillipe. She had just clocked out when she saw many employees running back. She asked and found out that Phillipe was eating in their cafeteria!
Recently, she had been reading a novel on her phone about accidentally attracting a domineering CEO. In one scene, an ordinary female employee caught the CEO's attention in the company cafeteria, leading to a happy romance between the rich and handsome CEO and the Cinderella-like girl.
So Annette also ran to the cafeteria entrance. When she saw Phillipe inside, he looked so handsome.
He was sitting at the table, seemingly waiting for someone, or perhaps the food didn't suit his taste, as he hadn't started eating.
No one dared to sit at the tables around him. Many people only dared to watch from a distance, but no one dared to approach him.
Annette's heart raced as she remembered the novel's plot. She squeezed through the crowd, pretending to be calm as she got some food and then sat at the table next to Phillipe, eating as if no one else was around.
