Chapter 1056 Benefactor

Henry stood on the terrace, watching Nolan and Melanie from afar. Both ICU rooms on this floor held the two people he cared about the most.

The next evening, the annual charity ball took place at a swanky five-star hotel in Empire Vista City.

As soon as Phillipe's car pulled up, reporters swarmed around him. If it weren't for the dozens of security guards keeping order, they would have broken through the barriers and mobbed him.

Phillipe looked as dashing and dignified as ever, his suit making him seem like a character straight out of a comic book, with his sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, standing tall and proud.

When he opened the car door and stepped out holding Abella's hand, the flashbulbs went off like crazy. Their outfits were clearly coordinated, and the style was unmistakably Lady Margaret's work.

It seemed they were going to flaunt their love again tonight.

Many reporters immediately began live reporting. Phillipe placed his hand on Abella's slender waist, and the two walked into the hotel together.

Behind them, Beckett and Kimberly smiled warmly and waved to the crowd, looking very approachable.

Meanwhile, Lola had just opened her eyes in the hospital bed when Briar exclaimed joyfully, "Ms. Flores, you're finally awake!"

Lola weakly looked around and asked in a hoarse voice, "Where am I?"

"Intensive Care Unit."

It was a high-end ward, capable of monitoring the patient's condition at all times. If anything happened, medical staff and equipment were ready for immediate rescue.

"Mr. Hall went to talk to the doctors about your condition. He'll be back soon. Are you feeling any better?" Briar asked with concern.

Lola's face was pale, and she was weak, with sharp pains coursing through her body intermittently. She said feebly, "It still hurts. Did the doctors say what caused it?"

Briar shook her head. "Several doctors have already come, but none could find the cause of your illness. Mr. Hall also had last night's dinner checked, and every ingredient was fine. All the servants' whereabouts have been investigated, and none had the motive or opportunity to harm you."

So what was going on?

Not only Briar but also Lola couldn't understand.

Lola weakly closed her eyes for a while before opening them again and asking, "Call the nurse in to give me some pain medication."

She couldn't bear the pain any longer.

"The nurse gave you a dose half an hour ago. You can only have it once a day." Briar saw how much she was suffering. "How about I turn on the TV to distract you?"

She pressed the remote, and the TV screen was reporting tonight's charity ball.

Lola saw Phillipe and Abella making their grand entrance, the reporters waiting, and Beckett and Kimberly smiling and waving at the camera. Her heart twisted painfully, almost suffocating her.

"Ms. Flores? I'm sorry, I'll change the channel right away." Briar saw she was upset and quickly changed the channel, but every channel was reporting the ball. This sensational news was being covered by all the stations.

Lola couldn't hold back and coughed up blood.

Briar was terrified and quickly pressed the service bell. Melanie, sitting on a bench outside, saw Henry rushing with several doctors and nurses to Lola's ward, and her mood worsened.

At the ball, Molly saw Abella standing proudly next to Phillipe, with many guests approaching them, and she was furious.

They looked like the perfect couple, making everyone envious.

Finally, when Abella was alone, Molly's eyes flashed with a hint of revenge. "Dad, I see the person who hit me!"

"Take me to her!" Ryder put down his wine glass, angry. "I want to see which jerk hit you!"

Molly led the way, and as they got close to Abella, Ryder suddenly shouted excitedly, "My savior, Abella! Finally, I get to see you!"

Molly looked closely and saw her usually high-and-mighty father being very polite to Abella, bowing respectfully and shaking her hand, while Abella smiled at him like an old friend.

"Mr. McCoy, long time no see," Abella greeted Ryder.

"Abella, when I heard you would be at this ball tonight, I cleared my schedule just to see you. I'm so happy to finally meet you!" Ryder's eyes were filled with joy and gratitude. "You've been busy, and I haven't had the chance to treat you to a meal. You've been through so much lately, and I haven't been able to help. I wanted to see you to tell you that if you need anything, just let me know."

Molly was stunned. When did Abella become her father's savior? How did she not know?

"Mr. McCoy, you've already helped a lot," Abella said gently.

"That was nothing. If you need anything, even if it's my last breath, I'll repay you!" Ryder said.

"But Dad," Molly interrupted, "she..."

"Don't be rude! This is Abella, our family's savior. She saved your grandfather's life and mine. She's a few months older than you, so just be polite to her."

Ryder smiled and introduced, "This is my daughter Molly, who recently returned from abroad."

Abella smirked, "We met yesterday."

So this was Ryder's daughter?

She had heard he had a daughter, but didn't know it was Molly.

"What? You know each other?" Ryder was surprised.

At that moment, Phillipe finished talking with the guests and walked over. "Mr. McCoy, business is good lately."

"Hahaha, Phillipe, you're here to tease me. My business can't compare to yours, not even your little finger," Ryder said humbly.

Phillipe smiled, "Yesterday, Ms. McCoy gave Abella a blank check, saying she could fill it in. I thought Mr. McCoy had made a lot of money recently and wanted to ask for advice."

"What check?" Ryder turned to Molly, confused. "Why did you give Abella a check?"

"It's nothing, just trying to buy Phillipe and Abella's relationship," Rainey suddenly appeared, smiling brightly. "I told her one check wasn't enough. Phillipe is worth billions. She got upset and said our family isn't as good as Phillipe's, and I should dress up and marry a rich old man to contribute to our family, so we wouldn't be under Phillipe's family forever."
