Chapter 24
"Was this soup spiked with Heart Relief Powder?" Abella asked Scott.
Though stunned, Scott replied, "Exactly. It is said that the powder can get the heart strong without side effects."
"Sir Bourbon currently can't drink this soup as his body can't take it. It'll only bring a reverse effect to him," Abella explained.
"So, nothing wrong with the soup? Just that Sir Bourbon currently can't take it?" Scott didn't expect Abella to be so capable at such a young age. She could tell what was wrong just by taking a whiff of the soup.
Just then, the operating room opened, and a nurse rushed out anxiously.
"Mr. Bourbon! Oh, good! Please sign on this surgery notice."
Phillipe looked at the pen and paper in her hand but didn't take them. Instead, he asked her coldly, "How is my grandfather now?"
"Not good. But please trust us. We'll do everything we can to save Sir Bourbon! But we also need you to sign here," the nurse replied.
Phillipe didn't move. Instead, he turned to look at Abella and asked, "What do you say?"
"It's not that serious yet." Abella naturally knew what a surgery notice meant. After checking her watch, she said, "Give me a moment."
Then, she handed her bag over to Phillipe, who took it without hesitation.
Others were stunned when they saw Abella turn around and leave.
"Mr. Bourbon, who's this young lady?" Scott was confused as he couldn't figure out why Phillipe was willing to help carry her bag.
"Isn't the operating room this way? Why did she run over there?" Gabriel was also confused.
"Sir Bourbon can't take any longer. Please make your decision as soon as possible." The nurse became anxious as she thought Abella was wasting time.
Abella went to Graham's office and got a set of needle packs. Then, she asked the nurse to get sterile clothing.
"What's she doing?" the nurse was puzzled.
She was stunned and looked at Phillipe in confusion, wondering, 'Is she crazy? Is she going to perform surgery on Mr. Bourbon herself? But she isn't even an adult! What is she doing?'
But Phillipe said to the nurse, "Just follow her."
His words undoubtedly gave Abella support.
"Do as what she says," Phillipe added.
The nurse nodded and quickly led Abella inside.
"Mr. Bourbon, let's go wait in the observation room. We can at least see what's going on in there."
"Okay." With Abella's bag in hand, Phillipe walked ahead first.
Inside the operating room, when Zachary saw Abella, he suddenly felt relieved. Then, he quickly moved aside to let her lead the surgery.
Ever since Zachary knew how skillful Abella was, he'd been in awe of her.
But the nurse was shocked when seeing this.
She couldn't help wondering, 'Is that her? The famous teenage miracle doctor who operated on Sir Bourbon yesterday and caused a stir in the hospital? If so, then that's not surprising at all. After all, even Dr. Brown admits her medical skills.'
After Abella finished the remaining surgery, Ryan's breathing remained weak. Things weren't good.
"Abella, what should we do now?" The other doctors clearly didn't know what to do.
After years of practicing, they were all able to handle any situation with ease except for this one.
"We wait."
While Abella said so firmly and decisively in front of the operating table, other doctors became impatient.
"Sir Bourbon's breathing is getting weaker. Why wait? Wait for what?" one doctor asked worriedly.
"We're saving an old man's life. Every second counts!" the other added.
Seeing Abella standing still, other doctors became anxious.
One doctor said to Abella, "If you don't know what to do, then stay back. Let Dr. Brown give it another shot."
"Still a young girl. This must be tough for her! Dr. Brown, can you think of another way? We can't just stand here doing nothing." another one commented.
"If you can't do it..."
"Who says I can't?" Abella suddenly raised her gaze confidently, interrupting that doctor.
He was taken aback by Abella's imposing mannerisms. "You can? Then get started!"
Ryan's breathing became weaker and weaker.
The ventilator frequently beeped.
Upon hearing this sound, Abella began performing surgery swiftly and efficiently.
Everyone was stunned and wondered how bold she was to give an acupuncture therapy.
"This is the operating room. How could you do this here?" one doctor asked in disbelief.
"The patient is hanging on by a thread. He couldn't suffer anymore!" another cut in.
"If you have no other methods, just step aside. Don't waste our time!"
Abella pricked Ryan's head, heart, and arms with needles.
Nurses were shocked. They couldn't believe the young lady was so bold that she gave the patient many needles.
"Don't fool us with your traditional treatment!" one of the doctors piped up.
"Enough!" Zachary scolded.
A nurse came up and said, "Mr. Bourbon said we should listen to the lady."
Others remained silent except that one said, "Fine. Have it your own way."
As needles were stabbed into Ryan's acupoints, he spat blood after a while.
Everyone dumbfounded, Scott said with worry, "Is Sir Bourbon well? It seems he's getting worse."
Gradually, Ryan's condition stabilized.
The ventilator no longer made any piercing sounds.
All the doctors were stunned, looking at Abella in disbelief.
"All right. Send the patient back to his ward," said Abella calmly.
All the doctors stared at her with complex expressions on their faces.
"If you hadn't operated on him, he would be better with just several needles," Abella said before leaving.
Everyone was amazed. Zachary was the first one to get her meaning. Pondering over the procedure and acupoints she pricked, he suddenly figured it out and said, "How brilliant! That's why."
He'd been exposed to this traditional therapy and knew why Abella did that.
But others were confused.
"Dr. Brown, did you see what just happened? Can you tell us..." one doctor said in astonishment.
"How did she do it?" another doctor interrupted, asking.
"Just by pricking some acupoints? How could..." They couldn't believe it.
"Mr. Bourbon. Abella... " Even Gabriel was too shocked to speak coherently.
He couldn't help wondering, 'Are other doctors just too lame, or is she really that amazing?'
As Abella walked out of the operating room, she saw Phillipe coming towards her with her bag on his shoulder. Earlier, she was in a rush and handed him her bag. She didn't expect him to carry it for such a long time.
