Chapter 1094 Upgraded Version
"You have no right to talk to me about childhood," Lola suddenly snapped. "You were so good to me when I was little. Why can't you be the same now? Why did everything change when Abella came back?"
They could have loved and valued her like they did when she was a child, but they chose not to.
In the end, it was all about loving their biological daughter!
"Abella suffered for eighteen years out there. What's wrong with us wanting to make it up to her?" Carl said, his voice filled with pain. "Do you expect us to ignore her and only be good to you? Is that what you think is fair?"
"You give her a hundred candies and only a few to me. Is that your idea of fairness?" Lola cried out, her voice breaking. "Just because you think she never had candy before, you shower her with it, while I get a few because you think I've had enough? You think I should be grateful and not feel any difference, right?"
Carl looked at her with disappointment. "You had more than a hundred candies. You grew up carefree and happy, never worrying about food or clothes. But Abellawas out there suffering. You were pampered and protected, while Abella had to fend for herself. You easily entered high society because of our connections, while Abella had to work hard for it."
Carl's voice grew more sorrowful. "We owe her so much. Giving her a hundred candies is not too much."
Lola fell silent.
"Or do you think she shouldn't have come back, and we should treat you, who has no blood relation to us, as our own? Is that what you think is fair?"
Lola seemed to be struck by his words, her darkest thoughts exposed. She remained silent for a while before saying, "It's too late now. I gave you a chance, but you didn't cherish it. If you want to make it up to her so badly, then go to hell together and make it up there!"
She pressed a button on her wheelchair, ready to leave, but then stopped. "Oh, by the way, those drugged men she dealt with before? This time, they're upgraded. I hope she lasts longer; otherwise, the game won't be fun!"
With that, Lola left, satisfied.
The others were left seething with anger. "Lola!"
Meanwhile, Abella arrived at Eastgate Heritage Manor, only to be summoned to Holy Church by Lola.
Abella and Phillipe's people had already quietly surrounded the church.
As Abella drove up to the church, she saw Nash and Jace, her bodyguards, lying on the ground.
The car's headlights cast a somber light on their figures.
Abella got out and checked Nash's pulse, finding his wrist and leg bones broken.
His forehead was caved in, clearly from a beating.
His head and ears were bleeding, indicating the severity of the attack.
His neck was twisted.
Whoever did this must have been incredibly strong.
She glanced at Jace, who was in a similarly tragic state. After a moment of silence, she walked towards the church.
Sam, hiding in the shadows, whispered to his men, "When we leave, you two take Jace and Nash's bodies. Ms. Medici wants to give them a proper burial."
"Sam, how do you know?" One of his men asked, surprised. They had seen Abella linger by the bodies, but she hadn't said anything. How did Sam know she wanted to take them back and give them a proper burial?
"You don't understand! It's called a connection!" Sam said proudly. This was the unique understanding he had with Abella after years of working together.
Abella entered the dilapidated church, which was empty and desolate, covered in dust.
The old stained glass windows let in a cold light, and the large chandelier above swayed slightly in the wind. The dim light from the old wall lamps barely illuminated the space.
In the center of the church, a few steps led up to an altar, where Lola and her henchmen stood.
Lola, sitting in her wheelchair, looked down at Abella with a smug expression. "You came?"
Twenty feet from the altar, Abella saw her grandparents tied to a pillar on the left, along with three bodyguards.
On the right, her parents were tied to another pillar.
A path lay between them.
Seeing them all kneeling, hands and feet bound, Abella's eyes grew colder.
"Abella, run! She's crazy," Winslow urged. "She has help. They broke Nash's limbs and neck in less than a minute."
"Jace's intestines were pulled out. Don't worry about us, just go," Kimberly added urgently. "We don't need you to save us."
Seeing Abella alone, Beckett's eyes reddened. "Abella, go."
Abella had already sacrificed so much for them.
"Sweetheart, leave now," Carl choked out, as if this was their last meeting. The thought of not seeing Abella walk down the aisle in a beautiful wedding dress filled him with regret and sorrow, his eyes showing reluctance and concern.
The three bodyguards, their mouths stuffed with rags, also motioned for Abella to leave. Their eyes were filled with fear, concern, and urgency, as if they had just experienced something terrifying and needed Abella to escape.
The church doors behind Abella slammed shut, darkening the space.
Abella showed no fear, only annoyance as she looked at the people on the altar. "You broke your promise."
Nash was innocent.
Lola had said that if Abella went to Eastgate Heritage Manor, she wouldn't harm Nash.
But Nash had still met a tragic end.
"Only two bodyguards dead, and you're upset? Soon, your whole family will be dead," Lola said with a mischievous smile. "We haven't had a good chat in a long time. Today, let's catch up properly."
