Chapter 1102 Why Do This?
Half an hour later, the entire George family was called to the Long Island Manor.
Carl and Winslow sat in the main seats of the living room, their faces red with anger.
Beckett and Kimberly were on the left sofa, while Abella sat on the right. Their expressions were calm, like the eerie stillness before a storm.
Phillipe knew this was a private family matter, and as an outsider, it wasn't his place to get involved. So, he had left half an hour earlier.
One by one, the five brothers walked in, each carrying large branded bags.
They dumped the gold and silver jewelry from the bags onto the table, quickly forming a small mountain. Along with the jewelry, they also produced the family's passports, bank cards, and other items.
Carl was livid. He walked up to George, grabbed handfuls of the jewelry, and threw them at him with force.
Elsa was terrified and confused. What had happened to make her grandpa so angry?
"You idiot," Carl's body trembled with rage. "Did you get caught? Trying to run away? I can't believe I raised someone like you."
Unable to contain his anger, he slapped George several times.
George kept his head down the entire time, not even lifting his eyelids.
Elsa, however, was getting anxious. "Grandpa..."
"Shut up." Carl's angry voice echoed through the room, silencing everyone.
Especially Elsa, who was completely stunned.
From childhood to now, Carl had never spoken to her in such a tone, let alone yelled at her in anger like this.
Carl was beyond furious. He looked at George, then at Margaret, and laughed bitterly, "Well, you two are something else. I've lived most of my life, and I never thought I'd be played for a fool by you."
"Murder, arson, hiring thugs, money laundering—what haven't you done?" Carl's roar was like a thunderclap, leaving Primrose and Elsa in shock. How could their parents be involved in such things?
A sharp sound rang out as Winslow stepped forward and slapped Margaret hard. "From the day you married into the Medici family until now, have we ever treated you poorly? When George made mistakes, not only did you not stop him, but you also encouraged him. You've let me down."
Seeing Winslow so angry, Elsa hurried forward, "Grandma, there must be some misunderstanding."
Her mother had always been Winslow's favorite daughter-in-law.
"Misunderstanding?" Winslow was livid. "Abella, show them the evidence."
Elsa looked at Abella. Was she behind this again?
Since Abella had been acknowledged by the family, so many things had happened.
Abella projected the evidence Jacob had stored on his phone onto the TV screen.
Over the years, every incident involving the Sunrise Group, every danger Beckett and Kimberly faced during their travels, had all been orchestrated by George and Margaret.
Especially in the early years when Beckett took over the company, George and Margaret had caused him numerous problems, leading many to question his abilities. Several times, he almost lost the position Carl had entrusted to him.
Primrose and Elsa couldn't believe it. Their parents had been sabotaging Beckett and Kimberly for over a decade.
Additionally, Jacob's will revealed that eighteen years ago, during the hospital fire, Maria had seen Kimberly take her daughter before she passed out. She was too weak from childbirth and inhaling smoke to stop her, and it was Jacob who saved her from the hospital.
The next day, the newspapers reported that the Medici family had welcomed a baby girl. Jacob and Maria then realized that the family who had taken their daughter was very wealthy.
At that time, Kimberly had already had five sons, and by the time she had a daughter, she had no milk left. The baby girl didn't like formula and cried constantly, so Kimberly had to hire a wet nurse.
Driven by the desire for money and missing her daughter, Maria applied for the job.
Unexpectedly, the moment Lola saw her, she stopped crying and reached out as if wanting to be held.
After drinking Maria's milk, Lola became exceptionally well-behaved, so Kimberly kept Maria to take care of Lola.
Later, once Maria's position was secure, she brought Jacob into the household.
Jacob gradually worked his way up to the position of butler, earning Beckett and Kimberly's trust.
After being bribed by George and Margaret, he continuously provided them with information about Beckett and Kimberly's whereabouts, daily activities, and social interactions.
George and Margaret never expected Jacob to secretly keep such comprehensive evidence.
"You knew all along that Lola wasn't my biological daughter, but you kept it from me for eighteen years, letting Abella suffer outside. How could you be so heartless?" Kimberly's eyes reddened with anger, her voice choked with emotion.
Beckett's voice was hoarse as he looked at his brother with deep pain, "Did you really want me dead that badly? Do I mean nothing to you?"
George kept his head down, and Margaret didn't lift her eyes either.
Elsa, however, shook Margaret's hand, asking in disbelief, "Mom, is this true? Why would you do this? Haven't our families always been close?"
Lola had indeed been annoying, but Beckett and Kimberly had always treated her and her sister Primrose, very well.
She couldn't understand why her parents would do such things.
The evidence continued to play on the TV.
Jacob's will mentioned that he had once overheard George telling Margaret that it was a pity Beckett and Kimberly hadn't died in the fire eighteen years ago.
This made Beckett's tears flow uncontrollably.
He shook George's shoulders, crying out in pain, "Have I not treated you well? What grudge do we have that makes you wish for my death? What did I do wrong? Tell me!"
Kimberly's tears also flowed. From the day she married into the Medici family, she had treated George and Margaret as her own siblings, never guarding against them, even treating them better than her own brothers who lived abroad.
Lola had already broken her heart, but now George and Margaret had too.
Her heart was shattered, unable to breathe.
"I was pregnant at the time. No matter how much you hated me, the child was innocent. How could you bear to harm her? You were her uncle and aunt. If it weren't for Abella's good fortune and the Wilson family taking her in, if our people hadn't arrived in time, three people would have died that night." Kimberly cried.
