Chapter 926 Dennis Came In
"If he does anything that makes you uncomfortable, just let me know, and I'll go kick his ass."
Abella looked puzzled. "He hasn't done anything to me. He hasn't even spoken to me. I haven't even met him yet."
Kimberly was surprised. "But the guard at the door said you two talked for a bit, and then you got mad and wouldn't let him in. What's going on?"
"Wait, are you saying the guy at the door is my brother?" Abella's eyes widened in shock.
"Yeah." Kimberly was confused. How could Abella not know Dennis was her brother?
"And he had an assistant with him?"
"Yeah, his name is Louie. He's been with your brother for years."
Hearing this, Abella immediately got up and headed for the door.
Outside, the two men were practically frozen solid. Louie was stiff from the cold, staring longingly at the main building. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw Abella open the door and walk towards them through the snow.
"Mr. Medici, am I seeing things from the cold?" Louie said, his breath visible in the frigid air, his body stiff like a clumsy snowman. "It really looks like Ms. Medici. She is coming."
Dennis noticed Abella approaching, his eyes lighting up.
"Ms. Medici is getting closer. It's real." Louie's eyes were filled with hope. "It's not a hallucination."
He wanted to jump up and shout to Abella, but his feet were numb from the cold, making it impossible to move.
His hands were too stiff to lift.
Even his voice, wrapped in white breath, was much quieter than usual.
"Ms. Medici, please let us in," Louie said through chattering teeth, using all his strength to shout. "Mr. Medici is injured!"
Abella reached the door, and the guard at the security booth quickly came out to salute. "Ms. Medici, I remembered your instructions and didn't let them in."
"Open the door."
The guard thought he had misheard, but seeing Abella's determined face, he immediately pressed the button to open the gate.
Dennis could finally come in. It hadn't been easy.
The guard secretly felt happy for him.
The gate slowly opened.
The previously arrogant and proud Dennis softened his demeanor upon seeing her, his expression even showing a hint of cautious flattery.
He wanted to step forward, but his feet were frozen stiff, unable to move.
Louie gave him a push, and Dennis finally stepped forward, asking happily, "Abella, you're not mad anymore?"
Abella scrutinized Dennis. "Are you really my brother?"
"Absolutely." Dennis patted his chest, causing snowflakes to scatter onto Abella's hair. He quickly reached out to brush them off. "I didn't mean to get snow on you."
"Ms. Medici, let me introduce myself. I'm Louie, Mr. Medici's assistant. I swear on my life, he really is your brother!"
Abella looked at Louie's sincere expression, then at the clumsy, eager-to-please Dennis, and asked suspiciously, "What about earlier..."
"Earlier, I didn't know you were my sister," Dennis replied.
If he had known, he wouldn't have done such a thing.
"Let's talk inside."
Abella turned to walk back, and Dennis hurried to follow her. "Last time you left in a hurry, I didn't get a chance to ask you. Were you hurt in the explosion at the abandoned building?"
As he spoke, he saw the guard at the door hand him an umbrella, which he immediately took and opened for Abella.
Abella was surprised he remembered. She recalled how he had shielded her with his body and covered her ears to block out the deafening explosion. "Did you know I was your sister then?"
"I found out before going to the abandoned building, but I couldn't find you." Dennis tilted the umbrella towards her, noticing she was lightly dressed. "Why did you come out yourself? You should have asked a servant. It's so cold outside; what if you catch a cold?"
If his clothes weren't already soaked with snow, he would have wanted to give her his jacket.
But Abella coming to meet him personally made him very happy.
"Mr. Medici, he..." Louie followed behind them, struggling to speak through the cold but still trying to say good things about Dennis."After you performed surgery on Mr. Medici, he was recovering in the hospital. When he heard you were his sister and had been captured by Maria, he pulled out his IV and went to rescue you without hesitation."
Dennis shot him a cold look, and Louie immediately fell silent.
Abella looked at Dennis. He had been weak then, and later, to save her, he had been shot, injured his head, and reopened his wounds.
The servants in the main building saw Abella leading Dennis and Louie inside. The key point was that Dennis, who was usually so imposing, had become very gentle, and Louie was unusually obedient. The servants' faces were filled with shock and admiration.
Someone could actually tame Dennis, and even his assistant, keeping them outside for two hours.
Abella was amazing and admirable.
In front of Abella, Dennis was more polite than usual. "Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Caleb, Aunt Bonnie."
Caleb, in the living room, saw Dennis frozen and couldn't help but laugh. "You made it?"
Bonnie also smiled. "It must be really cold outside."
David, who had missed Dennis, wanted to express his longing as usual, but remembering Kimberly and Abella's conversation, he pretended to be stern. "What's going on? Did you two bully Abella outside?"
Vanessa also pretended to scold them. "Look at what you've done."
"Let they change into clean clothes first." As soon as Abella spoke, the others started praising her.
"Look how good, kind, and considerate Abella is."
"Hurry up and change your clothes."
"I want to hear what you did to Abella!"
Dennis's clothes were wet, and he reluctantly glanced at Abella before heading upstairs.
Everyone gathered around Abella to get the details.
Abella spoke seriously. "Dennis didn't bully me. Last time at the abandoned building, he brought people to save me."
She also mentioned Dennis getting shot, acting as a human shield during the explosion, covering her ears, and injuring himself.
Dennis paused at the last step of the stairs, surprised that Abella was defending him in front of the family.
She didn't mention any misunderstandings, only the things that made him look good.
