Chapter 897 Surrender

Everyone stepped aside to clear a path.

Maria walked slowly and deliberately toward Abella.

It had been a while since they last saw each other. Maria was no longer the Medici family's servant in her work uniform. She now sported a sharp short haircut and wore a leather jacket and pants, looking every bit like a ruthless assassin leader.

She flashed a cold smile, looking down at Abella with a hint of malice. "Surprised to see me?"

In Abella's memory, Maria was a loyal servant who would cry out in pain if she fell and beg for forgiveness on her knees if she made a mistake.

But the person standing before her now was a stark contrast to that image.

Theo had no idea who this Maria was, but he could sense the animosity between her and Abella.

"So, all these people are yours?" Abella stood up calmly, a slight smirk on her lips, as if the danger before her was nothing. "Which organization are you with?"

"Do you think you have the right to ask? All you need to know is that now that you're in my hands, I'll make sure you wish you were dead! Hahahaha..." Maria's laughter was eerie, like a ghostly wail in the dark night.

Around them, twenty or so cars formed a large circle, trapping Abella and Theo inside.

Maria's hundred or so men, armed to the teeth, had their weapons trained on them. Any sudden movement, and they'd be riddled with bullets.

Theo felt a bit nervous and instinctively looked at Abella. Even now, she remained unruffled, as if the people surrounding them were of no consequence.

Just as Theo was about to assess the situation and follow Abella's lead to find a way out, he saw Abella raise her hands in a leisurely gesture of surrender.

Theo's eyes widened. He didn't expect Abella would surrender.

Back in Triangle City, in a much more dangerous situation, Abella had refused to surrender, fighting her way out against all odds.

But now, without a single shot fired, she was giving up so easily.

"Hahahahaha..." Seeing Abella raise her hands, Maria laughed even more gleefully, her sharp laughter piercing the night and echoing through the abandoned building.

"Abella, I never thought I'd see the day. You're quite sensible." Maria was pleased with her surrender, laughing with delight. "No matter how fast you are, can you outrun a bullet? You're Abbott, you can detect any drug we give you."

Maria paced back and forth in front of her. "But you have some skills, making it hard to catch you without losing men."

"So you resorted to underhanded tactics? Ann has a heart attack on the way to Verdania, the black-clad men at the mountaintop restaurant, the falling billboard, and the accusations against Beauty Skincare Group. All of it was your doing?"

"You're smart." Maria looked at her with a mix of pity and sympathy. "But it's a shame, you'll soon die by my hand. Hand over everything you have, phones, weapons, everything. Or my men will search you, and you'll pay the price." She smiled wickedly.

Abella tossed her phone and a small folding knife to the ground.

Seeing Abella comply, Theo followed suit, throwing down everything he had, including his watch.

Maria signaled to her men, and a man and a woman stepped forward to search them.

After a while, they returned empty-handed. "Ms. Hughes, nothing on them."

"Same here."

Maria then motioned for them to tie up Abella and Theo.

The abandoned building was nineteen stories high, with unfinished walls that let the cold wind and snowflakes in, adding to the chill.

Theo couldn't help but sneeze.

They were taken to the eighteenth floor and tied to chairs. The chairs were hard and uncomfortable, and when Theo shifted, a gun was immediately pressed to his head.

"Don't move," A female assassin warned coldly.

"Not even a little?" Theo was incredulous.

As soon as he spoke, the gun pressed harder against his head. He nodded quickly, and didn't move.

Abella, though tied to a chair, exuded an aura of authority, as if she were the one in control.

She watched Maria's back with a casual gaze.

Maria stood at the edge of the eighteenth floor, holding Abella's phone. The screensaver was a photo of Abella and Phillipe from behind.

Phillipe had pestered Abella for ages to get her to use that photo as her screen saver.

Now, Maria, whether out of anger for Lola or to prevent Abella from signaling for help, suddenly changed her expression and threw the phone off the building.

"Hey, that was Ms. Medici's phone." Theo heard the phone crash below, probably shattered. What was wrong with Maria? Confiscating the phone was one thing, but breaking it? That phone was Abella's creation, packed with features and secrets.

The female assassin pressed the gun to Theo's head again, warning him to stay silent.

Maria turned back, seeing the once proud and untouchable Abella and her subordinate tied to chairs.

With over a hundred men guarding them, these two were completely at her mercy.

Thinking this, she laughed again, "Hahahahaha..."

Finally, the day had come!

After all the humiliation from Abella, and her daughter Lola being bullied by this woman.

Today, she would get her revenge!

She looked at Abella with venomous eyes, stepping closer.

Theo had no idea why Maria kept laughing like that, thinking she was crazy.

Maria grabbed Abella's bun, snarling, "You had so many identities, so much success outside, why come back to the Medici family? You could have lived well outside. But you came back to die!"

"Don't touch Ms. Medici! Come at me if you have the guts!" Theo shouted. "You think you can touch Ms. Medici's hair?"

Maria laughed at Theo, "Loyal, aren't you? This bitch really knows how to win people over. In the Medici family, you bought off all the servants who were good to Lola. Impressive. Someone, gag him."

Even gagged, Theo struggled, wanting to fight Maria.

'Do whatever to me, but don't bully Ms. Medici!' Theo thought.
