Chapter 630 Catching the Thief
In Phillipe's office, Abella's phone buzzed after a bit of waiting.
It was Joseph with an update on the clothing company. He added, "Ms. Medici, when's your winter break? The employees miss you and hope you'll visit soon."
Abella had previously cleaned up the company and led it to success, earning everyone's respect.
While she was in college, Joseph handled the day-to-day stuff, and she guided him on the big decisions.
Four months flew by, and she hadn't visited, so the employees kept asking Joseph about her.
"I'll find some time to come back," Abella said.
"Awesome! They'll be thrilled," Joseph replied. "Oh, by the way, Mr. Medici had your office renovated while you were at school. I'll send you some photos; it looks amazing."
Abella got over a dozen photos, all in her favorite style. The space was now open, spacious, and bright.
Joseph continued, "The best renovation company did it, using top materials—no formaldehyde, no pollution. There's also a bedroom next to your office for you to rest. The bed and mattress are top-notch, and the walk-in closet is ready. The living room has custom-made furniture, a projector for movies, and a snack cabinet with nuts, cookies, candies, and chips. They've been there for half a year. When are you coming back to eat them? I was hoping to snag some myself."
Joseph couldn't help but envy Abella for having such a thoughtful brother.
"I'll let you know once I confirm the time," Abella replied.
"Great," Joseph said, excited. "Also, MY Clothing Company's contract is about to expire. They've proposed a five-year renewal, and you'll need to sign it in person."
Abella's signature and the company seal were required for such matters.
MY used to be VO, a top international brand. Phillipe acquired it after financial issues and internal conflicts.
To work more with Abella, Phillipe kept MY independent instead of merging it into the Bourbon Group.
He assigned all MY production orders to QY for processing and quality checks, then sent them back to MY's warehouse.
This helped QY earn more money.
Abella replied with an "Okay" and put all the unopened drinks and snacks into the snack cabinet to keep the table tidy.
Suddenly, the office door opened, and a woman's voice, Cecelia Jenkins, demanded, "Who are you? Why are you in Mr. Bourbon's office?"
Abella turned to see Cecelia striding in, wearing Dior heels and sporting a high ponytail that matched her assertive personality.
Cecelia, looking young and in her early twenties, snapped, "Who gave you the nerve to open Mr. Bourbon's cabinet?"
That cabinet had been a mystery to Cecelia for months, and now Abella was standing in front of it with the door open, fueling her curiosity.
"What did you take from Mr. Bourbon's cabinet? You thief!"
"Relax, I was just putting something away," Abella said calmly, closing the cabinet door. "Are you here to see Phillipe?"
"How dare you call Mr. Bourbon by his first name!" Cecelia shot back, quickly texting the head of security. "What did you put in there? Are you trying to frame someone? Just wait, causing trouble here has consequences."
"Just some snacks," Abella replied, unfazed.
Cecelia laughed mockingly. "Snacks for Mr. Bourbon? He doesn't eat snacks. And why would you put them in his cabinet? I've never seen you before."
Before Abella could respond, Cecelia continued, "Are you a spy trying to steal secrets or plant something? I've seen plenty like you!"
The head of security arrived with several guards. "Ms. Jenkins, what's going on?"
"This woman was sneaking around Mr. Bourbon's office and opened his cabinet. She's either a thief or a spy. Take her down, and we'll interrogate her once Mr. Bourbon is free," Cecelia ordered.
"Yes, Ms. Jenkins," the head of security said, moving forward with his team.
"You've misunderstood," Abella said calmly. "I'm Phillipe's fiancée. I was just putting away the snacks."
"You? Mr. Bourbon's fiancée?" Cecelia scoffed. "Are you kidding? What makes you think Mr. Bourbon would like you?"
Even Cecelia didn't dare claim to be Phillipe's mistress, but this girl had the audacity to call herself his fiancée.
The head of security and the guards didn't believe her either. They thought Phillipe's fiancée was supposed to be Lola Medici.
Just then, the phone on the coffee table buzzed. Abella picked it up and saw it was a message from the Bourbon Group's executive chat. She didn't check the contents but put it away, planning to explain later.
"You even stole Mr. Bourbon's phone?" Cecelia yelled. "Take her down!"
The guards rushed at Abella, but she easily dodged them. "You should ask Phillipe or Gabriel before arresting someone in this office."
"Who are you trying to scare? A thief talking big! Today, we're taking you down and calling the cops!" Cecelia shouted.
