Chapter 29
Phillipe's subordinates followed behind him, holding a pile of precious gifts. They put them down, and wait outside the door.
Only Gabriel remained next to Phillipe, looking respectful and deferential.
Phillipe nodded and said, "Mr. Medici, Mrs. Medici, it's been a long time."
He has always been restrained and reticent. Even when greeting people, he carries an air of calmness and seriousness.
"Phillipe, it's you!" Kimberly was the first to respond. Seeing the gifts he brought with him, she smiled and said, "You are so considerate. Your visit is our best gift."
"Phillipe, take a seat. Would you like to have some tea?" Beckett affectionately greeted Phillipe. "It's been quite some time since I saw you after Blake went abroad. Tonight we'll catch up!"
"You've grown a lot..." Kimberly looked at him admiringly. In her eyes, Phillipe was impeccable in every aspect, from appearance to ability.
On the second floor.
Lola had planned on going downstairs to talk with her parents after Abella returned to her room. It was a good chance to strengthen their ties. Moreover, she could find out if they knew about what had happened to Ryan.
As she opened the door, however, she heard two servants discussing Phillipe downstairs. Only then did she realize that Phillipe had already been here, right in this house!
Knowing this, she almost couldn't stand due to fear!
"Miss Lola?" Maria noticed immediately and quickly stepped forward to support her. "Are you okay?"
"Maria!" Lola grabbed Maria's hand, her voice trembling with nervousness. "Phillipe is here in the living room, he must have for what happened today! If my parents find out that I almost killed his grandfather...what should I do? What should I do!"
"Don't panic. Listen to what he has to say first," Maria comforted.
"No...it's different. When I say it, it's being honest. When he says it, it's an accusation." After weighing the pros and cons in her mind, Lola said, "I'll go downstairs and apologize!"
"Miss Lola, stay calm." Maria hurriedly held onto her hand. "See what's going on downstairs first. Trust me."
In the living room, Phillipe said, "Mr. Medici, Mrs. Medic, I came here today for Ms. Medici."
Beckett and Kimberly looked at each other in confusion. Ms. Medici? Did he mean Abella??
They pondered, 'Phillipe was always well-informed. He probably had got the news that there was another Ms. Medici. And that Lola is just an adopted daughter!'
Before Phillipe could announce anything, Kimberly spoke up first, "Phillipe, it was all of a sudden, and we didn't have time to tell you. It was a long story to tell."
Phillipe thought she was going to talk about the engagement they made years ago, so he nodded and patiently listened to her.
However, Kimberly started from the hospital fire incident. Then she said, "It's only been a couple of days since we got Abella back. We haven't announced her identity yet. Even her grandparents don't know about this either. We didn't mean to keep it from you or the Bourbon family."
Phillipe was confused.
Gabriel was completely stunned.
Kimberly knew that at this point, she couldn't hide it anymore. Having no choice, she said, "Please bring Abella Medici down here."
Gabriel looked at Kimberly and then at Phillipe in confusion, wondering, 'What was going on? Phillipe was engaged to Abella instead of Lola? That should mean an earlier cancellation of the wedding! Miss Lola has all sorts of talents up her sleeve. She comes from a wealthy family, with good looks that everyone admires. If he didn't want her, why would he want a humble girl from somewhere he doesn't even know?'
Phillipe lowered his head as if contemplating something.
Hearing Kimberly's call, Abella went downstairs without hesitation.
She was wearing a thin silk nightgown, her hair styled in a bun, and a pair of slender white legs quickly caught everyone's attention.
Gabriel was shocked when he saw that "Ms. Medici" was indeed Abella, thinking, 'She is the long-lost daughter of the Medici family?'
Phillipe raised an eyebrow slightly.
His deep eyes carried some inquiry. 'Is it really her? She's the real heiress of the Medici family?'
As soon as Abella walked downstairs, she saw Phillipe sitting on the couch. In his striking face, his eyes twinkled subtly, and a faint smile curved the corners of his mouth.
She was surprised, wondering, 'Why is he here?'
With confusion, she asked, "Mom, did you call for me?"
"Come here, Abella." Kimberly took her hand and made her sit down next to herself. She gently said, "Let me introduce. This is Phillipe. Many years ago, our families had an engagement. So technically speaking, Phillipe is your fiancé."
Shocked, Abella wondered, 'What? My fiancé?!'
"This is our long-lost biological daughter, Abella," Kimberly introduced to Phillipe.
Phillipe's eyes softened slightly as he looked at the girl who he had only known as Abella before. But he didn't expect that she had the surname of Medici.
Gabriel then also realized that Abella was the "Ms. Medici."
No wonder she dared to go against everyone in the hospital to save people; no wonder she dared to kick Aurora down. Turned out she had a great background!
Lola hid upstairs tapping. She thought that Phillipe had come for Ryan and was here to question her about it!
To her surprise, he came for Abella!
Her nails dug deep into her palms with anger. 'Why would this Abella show up? Why did she have to come back home? Why did she have to take away everything that belonged to me?' Lola thought.
"So Mr. Bourbon came today for..." Abella looked at Phillipe, asking.
Phillipe gazed into the girl's clear bright eyes. Her thin lips lightly pursed, her eyes shimmering.
"I heard my fiancée just returned home recently, so I brought a gift over," he replied.
Incredulously, Gabriel widened his eyes, looking toward Phillipe, wondering, 'Weren't you supposed to be coming here for a breakup? How did it turn into a visit instead? Did you change your mind because Abella is your fiancée now?! You changed too quickly!!'
Although it was rumored that Phillipe was cold-blooded, ruthless, and cruel, Kimberly appreciated his being. She thought to herself, 'For after all these years of acquaintance, I knew he was reliable, capable, and responsible. Not to mention his looks, wealth, and abilities. He was simply the best fiancé for my girl among all others. If Abella could marry him, then she would have a happy life, without any worries in the future.'
Abella never thought that the man in front of her was her fiancé.
