Chapter 794 Put Up or Shut Up
Margaret was sitting there, flashing a polite smile, but deep down, she knew her daughter didn't hold a candle to Abella.
Abella's skills were off the charts, like a hundred times better than her daughter's.
Margaret had been listening to violin music for ages, and even some pros couldn't touch Abella's level.
She had to admit, Abella was something else.
Someone in the crowd piped up, "Dang, Abella, you're not just a Go master, but you shred on the violin too?"
"The way you and Stringless play, it's like, mind-blowing. If you weren't so young, I'd swear you were Stringless!"
"You really nailed the emotions in that piece. The last person who did that was Stringless."
"If Stringless isn't taking students, how about you become mine?" That was Allyson Hubbard talking, a violin legend. She'd been playing since she was four and, at sixty-five, still put in two hours of practice every day.
She was totally obsessed with the violin; it was her life.
Everyone was kinda floored by Allyson's offer.
They knew tons of folks had tried to learn from her, but she always turned them down.
"I've got no kids, no ties, and I just wanna do what I love. I don't care if anyone picks up my skills or carries on my style," Allyson said with a warm smile, looking at Abella. "But today, hearing you play, I was blown away. I thought about taking you on as a student. You've got mad talent. If you're up for it, you'll outshine everyone and become the top dog in the violin world."
The guests were totally stunned. Allyson's praise for Abella was through the roof.
She was saying Abella could surpass Clifford and Stringless if she put in the work?
"I know you're also KnightStrategist. Maybe following me feels like a step down. No worries, we can be like friends and grow together."
Elsa, standing nearby, clenched her fists without even realizing it.
At the last big school competition, she had a violin face-off with Abella, and her teacher Dominic wanted to take Abella on as a student right in front of her.
Dominic was super strict with Elsa, but he was all nice to Abella that day. Even after getting turned down a couple of times, he kept trying, added Abella on WhatsApp, and did everything to get her on board.
And before that, Elsa had to get her parents to pull strings and use foreign connections just to get Dominic to take her on, and even then, it was just as a student, not a full disciple.
After that, Dominic had one goal: to make Abella his student.
He totally forgot about Elsa.
Now Allyson was all about Abella too.
It seemed like Abella was the only one who mattered to them.
"Abella's got experiments to do with me, no time for this." Suddenly, another voice broke in, and Rodolfo from Medical University pushed through the crowd. "Allyson, my student here has big dreams. She wants to study medicine and save lives. Violin and Go are just her side gigs, not her main thing."
Allyson let out a sigh, "That's a real shame."
She glanced at Abella, not wanting to let such talent slip away, and pulled out her phone. "Let's swap numbers. If you ever change your mind, hit me up."
Abella, even though she wasn't planning on taking her up on the offer, handed over her number out of respect and her love for the violin.
"Got the guts for another impromptu composition?" Elsa challenged, mustering all her courage. "You might've practiced 'Worldly' a million times. Let's see who's got more talent with a one-minute impromptu composition."
Allyson frowned. 'What's Elsa's deal? She lost and still can't let it go?'
Abella was about to turn her down when she caught Rodolfo frantically signaling her to go for it.
"I'll go first." Before Abella could even respond, Elsa snatched the violin and started her impromptu piece in front of everyone.
Though it was supposed to be impromptu, she'd actually spent two months perfecting it, tweaking it until it was just right.
"Not bad."
"It captures that youthful defiance. Makes me kinda nostalgic."
"The whole piece is so upbeat, really lifts your spirits."
Even though it was supposed to be a minute, Elsa played the entire first part, stretching it to two minutes.
"You wanted this." Abella took the violin back. "Half a minute's all I need."
Elsa fumed.
Abella's melody was grand, powerful, and way more captivating than Elsa's.
Elsa's heart sank. 'Did Abella also write pieces on the side, just in case?'
Abella only played the climax and stopped, leaving everyone wanting more. "You lost."
The difference in their skill was clear as day.
"Was that really impromptu?" Elsa still couldn't accept it.
Margaret felt like Elsa was just embarrassing herself. 'Worldly' alone proved Abella's mastery.
But Elsa was stuck in her failure, still dreaming of a comeback.
"You said you'd never touch a violin again." Abella's words made Elsa stagger, almost losing her balance.
"Wow, they're really going all out."
"It's just a duel, why make such a big deal? Two talents are better than one, right?"
"But compared to Abella, Elsa's way out of her league."
That last comment hit Elsa hard.
"Put Up or Shut Up. From now on, Elsa's done with the violin. Let's just call tonight's drama a bit of class added to the birthday bash."
