Chapter 338 More Guests Arrive.

"My granddaughter-in-law is truly amazing, let me tell you; I could talk about her virtues for days and nights on end..." Mr. Bourbon was saying when he saw the butler bring in the tea and invited them to drink.

"Have a sip of tea first. This comes from a three-hundred-year-old tea tree; the taste is excellent!"

He turned towards Abella with a cheerful smile, "Abella, try it. If you like it, take more back with you to school."

Upon hearing this, Calla thought that such fine tea, which had fetched a thousand dollars per gram at an auction a few months back, Mr. Bourbon was allowing this girl to take it to school to drink?

What a waste of such exquisite tea, which by its nature should be consumed in distinguished company, on significant occasions to truly appreciate its value...

Allowing this girl to take it to school...

It appeared that in Mr. Bourbon’s eyes, this girl held a high status.

Looking at the tea, Abella was reminded of her first return to Long Island Manor when Mrs. Medici had her served with such rare antique tea, which in the past, only nobility had the privilege to enjoy.

She took a sip; the tea's fragrance was pure and lingered on her palate, truly premium tea indeed.

After Calla took a sip, she shot a glance at Abella, probably assuming Abella had never tasted such luxurious tea in her life.

Wondering what means she employed to remain by Phillipe's side and to earn such affection from Mr. Bourbon...

She had thought surpassing Lola would be enough, but now this new girl had appeared...

After taking a sip of tea, Mr. Allen expressed curiosity about Abella's identity and couldn't help but ask Mr. Bourbon, "Is your granddaughter-in-law still in school?"

"Indeed, the Medical University practically begged her to attend! With her intelligence and wit, she really wouldn't have had to study at all, she's just there for a good time," Mr. Bourbon replied with considerable pride, his tone carrying a hint of boasting.

Begged her to attend? Mr. Allen was taken aback by this revelation.

That odd professor at Medical University, no matter how impressive the students, seemed ordinary in his eyes. For them to be begging...

Before Mr. Allen could inquire further, Mr. Bourbon eagerly divulged, "It's not just the Medical University; several Ivy League schools were also clamoring to enroll her... She is this year's perfect score student, Abella!"

"So, she's a perfect score student... No wonder." Mr. Allen was a bit surprised, having not expected that the student his beloved granddaughter had been begrudging all summer was right in front of him...
Considering his granddaughter's capabilities, clinching the top scorer title wouldn't have been a problem, but unfortunately, she suffered from a stomach bug on the day of the SATs, which left her depleted...

Ultimately, her SAT scores were much lower than usual, and as a result, she reluctantly settled for the Medical University.

This girl didn't just get top marks; she achieved a perfect score...

It seems she's quite capable academically... Mr. Allen assessed.

"So, that means my Calla is at the same school as your granddaughter-in-law..." Mr. Allen said.

Upon hearing this, Mr. Bourbon was somewhat surprised, "Calla is also at Medical University? Then she must have heard of my granddaughter-in-law! I've heard she caused quite a sensation on her very first day..."

"Ha-ha-ha..." Mr. Allen couldn't help but laugh, finding Mr. Bourbon's extreme satisfaction with this quiet and well-behaved young lady amusing, and said,

"Aren't all the universities doing military training right now? My Calla is afraid of getting a tan, so she didn't go..."

"Oh, what a great opportunity for exercise she missed! She wouldn't have tanned, look at my granddaughter-in-law, she went for a week and is still as fair as ever, ha-ha-ha..." Mr. Bourbon defended.

Abella noticed the two elders were subtly competing with each other when suddenly, her phone vibrated.

Glancing at the screen, she saw it was a call from one of her subordinates and promptly hung up.

The subordinate on the other end was left confused, his mind in disarray—had the boss hung up on him again?

Ever since she started seeing Phillipe, the boss had been hanging up his calls more and more frequently... The boss had changed!

She didn’t seem to appreciate his chatter anymore.

Not content to leave it at that, he called again, but this time, Abella guessed he had an urgent matter to report, so she stood up and excused herself, "Sorry, I need to head to the restroom."
Mr. Bourbon, still engaged in conversation, quickly said, “Scott, show Abella the way.”

“No need, I know where it is.” She answered politely.

Calla raised an eyebrow; it seemed she might be a regular visitor...

River Park was so vast; without visiting a few times, one would surely get lost!

This place, it belonged solely to Mr. Bourbon and Granny Bourbon—a private residence where your average guest certainly wouldn't have access!

Only those with a close relationship are privileged enough to visit...

Who exactly is this girl, to be a regular visitor here?! No, that's not right!! Mr. Bourbon just mentioned that this girl's surname is Medici, named Abella...

Could she be from the Medici family?? Calla’s mind was in a flurry with these different thoughts.

The Medici couple only has one daughter, Lola. If this girl's last name is Medici, could she be Lola's cousin?

The child of Lola's aunt or uncle?

Calla wasn’t very familiar with their children but vaguely remembered there was more than one girl on that side...

To think this girl has snatched Lola's fiancé...

Hah... that's truly interesting.

If she were Lola herself, perhaps she would warrant some caution, but if she's from the aunt and uncle's side... then there's no need for pleasantries! Calla thought as she assessed the situation.

Who doesn't know that Lola's aunts and uncles aren't as well off as Mr. Medici...

If we're to compare, they're not even on par with the Allen family!

Phillipe seemed to know that Abella had a phone call to attend to, something that needed discussion, so he did not accompany her.

"Grandma, would you like some tea?" Calla said, offering a warm cup of tea to the elder lady with gentle brows after Abella had left, "Knowing you've awakened truly brings us joy..."
"That's right, we wanted to come to see you the moment we got the news..." added Mr. Allen.

"Thank you, but I cannot drink this." Granny Bourbon declined with a kind smile, knowing the tea was strong and not suitable for her as she was recovering from a serious illness.

"Shall I get you a glass of water, then?" Calla set aside the teacup and asked the butler to fetch some water, acting every bit the hostess of the house.

"It's so hot outside, and if it weren't for my birthday, Calla wouldn't have agreed to dine out with me..." laughed Mr. Allen warmly.

"Oh right, on our way here, she remembered she had a gift for you, so she went back home to fetch it. Calla, you should promptly present the gift."

Before he could finish, the butler approached to inform, "Mr. and Mrs. Senior, more guests have arrived – Mrs. Talbot and Mrs. Wentworth..."

Mr. Allen's conversation was interrupted, and he had to wait for another opportunity.

Mrs. Talbot and Mrs. Wentworth were the daughters-in-law of Mr. Bourbon's old friends, presumably they've come to visit after hearing of the old lady's recovery.

Out of respect for his old friends' connection, Mr. Bourbon had them welcomed in.
