Chapter 713 Saving the Day
Alright, let's give this a more laid-back, web fiction vibe:
---
Now, Abella finally got why her grandpa's brothers and even his cousin all wanted him six feet under.
Turns out, the power split back then was all kinds of messed up.
But maybe David's old man thought David had the chops to handle the top spot, and to keep the peace, he tossed the others some shares but no real power?
And why did Ulysses and Dreck end up with big roles later? Was David just being a softie, or did he actually trust them enough to let them in?
"Pick it up," Naomi snapped, pointing at the contract and pen on the floor, glaring at Bonnie. "I ain't got time to mess around with you!"
"Even if it means a fight to the death, I won't let any of you screw me over!"
"What, you think your crew's gonna swoop in and save you? The whole villa's locked down by our guys. If all's gone to plan, even David's in our grip."
Bonnie was ready to rip her apart.
"But don't worry, for the sake of family, we'll let him live. He's been riding high for too long; it's time he sees us on top, especially after his golden boy's gone. Next, he'll really get a taste of life's rollercoaster. I can already picture his face."
Bonnie lunged at Naomi, but a bunch of tiny knives came flying at her.
Naomi, still freaked out, bolted to her husband's side.
If Abella hadn't yanked Bonnie away in time, she'd be a pincushion.
"You witch!" Naomi was shaking with rage. "Caleb was too busy to deal with you, but today, I'll give you the lesson you deserve."
"No need, Aunt Naomi." Suddenly, a man's voice cut through the crowd. All the bodyguards turned, and the elders were floored to see Caleb stroll in!
He was rocking a suit, looking cool and collected, not a scratch on him.
"My wife, I'll handle her myself." Caleb's words left everyone gobsmacked, especially Naomi, who looked like she'd seen a ghost. 'Caleb's not dead? He's alive? How?'
"Caleb?" The elders were in total shock.
But Bonnie and Abella? They just smiled, like they saw this coming a mile away.
Caleb slowly wheeled in a chair, and sitting in it was David!
Abella's grandpa!
Not only was he awake, but he looked pissed as hell.
"David?" Ulysses couldn't believe it. "You're awake."
"Ulysses, were you hoping I'd never wake up?" David's icy question made Ulysses' knees buckle, and he stammered, "No, David, you got it all wrong."
"You all think you're so slick, huh? I've been out for a few days, not even dead, and you're already ganging up on Bonnie!" David's voice boomed with authority and anger.
"Dad!" Bonnie ran over, crouching by the wheelchair, looking all teary-eyed. "You're finally awake. If you hadn't come, they would've killed me!"
It was the first time Abella saw Bonnie acting all cutesy. She didn't expect Bonnie to have so many sides, making her a pretty interesting character.
Hearing Bonnie's sobs, David's face turned even redder with rage as he glared at his relatives. "What the hell is wrong with you all! In terms of seniority and age, which one of you isn't older than Bonnie! So many of you ganging up on her, I feel ashamed for you!"
Weak?
'Weak? Seriously?' Naomi's eyes nearly popped out of her head.
Just a minute ago, Bonnie and Abella had taken down more than twenty bodyguards together.
"David, you didn't see, she was kicking people left and right." Before Naomi could finish, Bonnie chimed in, looking all pitiful, "Dad, you heard her, how could I possibly be kicking people around? It's all lies."
Naomi couldn't believe how good of an actress Bonnie was. "You literally just..."
"Shut up! I'm still here, and you still want to falsely accuse her?" David snapped, then turned to Bonnie with a softer tone, "Don't worry, with me here, let's see who dares to mess with you!"
Bonnie nodded, looking all innocent, then shot Naomi and Angie a smug look.
Naomi and Angie were fuming. "David."
"Shut it, I'll deal with you tomorrow! It's late, Bonnie, let's go home!"
Hearing this, Bonnie quickly ran over, grabbing Abella's hand, and said, "Dad, did Caleb ever mention Abella to you?"
David then realized he was so mad he almost forgot about Abella!
"Are you Abella?" David's voice softened, looking at her with emotion, "You look so much like Kimberly."
Just like his daughter Kimberly, almost like they were cut from the same cloth!
But the Abella in front of him was even more stunning and impressive than Kimberly was at her age.
"Abella, you've had it rough all these years." David held Abella's hand, his voice trembling with excitement.
"Grandpa." Abella noticed something was off.
Maybe David was too worked up, combined with his earlier anger, his hands were shaking, and he seemed out of breath, his face growing more uncomfortable by the second.
"Grandpa? Grandpa." Abella's hand went to David's wrist, suddenly shouting, "To the hospital! Quick!"
David had already passed out.
Everyone was in shock, not expecting the David who was just scolding them to be unconscious the next moment.
Caleb and Bonnie called out to him a few times, but he didn't respond.
"If anything happens to my dad, I won't let you off." Caleb growled, then quickly pushed the wheelchair away.
Bonnie and Abella followed close behind.
No one dared to stop them.
Derek stood there, stunned, before looking at Ulysses. "Ulysses, what do we do?"
They had no idea how much David had heard or if he knew about their dirty deeds and plans to kill Caleb.
If David found out, they were all screwed!
"When did they come in?" Ulysses didn't answer Derek's question but looked at the bodyguards in the hall.
All the bodyguards shook their heads; no one had noticed.
When did Caleb push David in? They didn't hear a thing.
"Are the people outside dead? Go get them and ask!" Ulysses was livid. How did they get in without anyone noticing?
