Chapter 349 Obstruction
The dishes were common household meals but she had prepared them with perfect flavor, aroma, and presentation.
Phillipe tasted a bite, and his eyes lit up; he didn't expect the young girl's culinary skills to be so impressive.
"Delicious," Phillipe affirmed. "Is this a new identity of yours? A chef?"
"Not exactly."
Abella didn't have a famous title in cooking, but she was taught all the lifelong knowledge of a national banquet chef by her grandfather.
He taught her so that when she had time, she would cook meals for him.
Back when she was learning to cook, she had put in a tremendous amount of effort, chopping vegetables until her hands were nearly falling off, just the thought of it was exhausting.
"You always eat here with me, I'm afraid I've been causing you some inconvenience. Is the food made by the chef at home hard to swallow?"
Abella immediately understood, "Not at all, their cooking is delicious too."
"It doesn't come close to being one-tenth as good as yours." Phillipe decided he had to cut their pay and make them practice more.
With that kind of skill, how can they have the cheek to earn a hundred thousand dollars a month? They aren't even a patch on my treasure!
Abella didn't know what he was thinking and served him more food, "If you like it, eat more. When I have time in the future, I'll cook for you again."
Phillipe paused upon hearing this, his eyes growing tender uncontrollably.
The young girl spoke of the "future" to him again.
And said she would cook for him.
"You don't have to."
He couldn't bear to have her busy herself like this; this time alone was enough to last a lifetime in his heart. Even the coriander in the soup, which he didn't like, tasted incredibly delicious at that moment.
After dinner, Phillipe's car was parked near the school. As Abella was about to get out, he pulled her into his arms for a kiss.
She finally got out of the car, eager to return to her dorm to draw but unexpectedly spotted a familiar figure being surrounded by a group of girls.
"Lola, this is our school, not bad huh?" Someone had invited Lola to visit the Medical University.
Lola surveyed the surroundings, hmm, she didn't expect the school Abella attended to be nothing special!
"Lola, I think you've become even more beautiful, you really know how to take care of yourself."
Lola replied with a disarming smile, "Don't say that. There are many people more beautiful than me in this world. I consider myself just an ordinary person."
"Lola! How can we ordinary people live if you talk like that?" A girl immediately took her hand and coquettishly said, "The daughter of the wealthiest man in the country also claims to be ordinary, did you consider our feelings, us common folk when you said that?"
"Exactly! Lola, you're way too modest!"
The girls joined in, heaping on flattery.
"If you were ordinary, would Phillipe have gotten engaged to you? Men care about looks too!"
"Your parents are so rich, and yet you call yourself ordinary."
"The thing is, you're so pretty, your skin so fine. Look at me, I stayed up last night and got a pimple by morning, waaaah!"
Lola had been looking for a chance to show off her skincare, and as the topic came to this, she immediately took out a bottle of Blemish-free Whitening Serum from her bag.
"Here, take it." Lola offered it with poise and a smile, "It's really effective. Just apply it on the pimple and by the next day, it will have shrunk!"
The girls saw the brand of the serum and couldn't hide their astonishment, "Lola, this is from the SV line? A tiny bottle costs thousands of dollars, and you just give it away so freely?"
She was the embodiment of extravagance!
Lola had long anticipated the reaction of these impoverished souls, greeting their astonishment with a gentle smile and a knowing nod. "My parents bought me a surplus of these serums. There are still about eight or nine bottles left at home. It would be a waste to let them expire unused."
Her every word seemed to exude the air of affluence.
"A family as wealthy as yours is too much!" a girl lamented, green with envy.
This was precisely the effect Lola sought, her smile remaining poised as she offered, "Go ahead and use it! No need to be shy. And if you're ever free, come visit Stanford University. I'll treat you to a meal."
Struck by her generosity and her well-read and reasoned demeanor, several girls quickly expressed their gratitude:
"Lola, you're the best!"
"Thank you so much, Lola!!"
"How can you be so kind?"
Abella couldn't bear to watch the pretense any longer. All she wanted was to hurry back to her dorm to draw. Opting for an alternate route, she never expected to be intercepted halfway.
A group of girls, full of hostility, stood before Abella. Lucine, their leader, clenched her fists and through gritted teeth, challenged, "Abella, do you dare to have a word with me behind the mountains?"
Cameras were scattered all over the campus, making it unwise to start a physical confrontation.
Her accomplices, who had previously suffered at the hands of Abella and Clare, were now eager for revenge upon finding Abella alone. They fantasized about tearing her to pieces.
"Run to the mountainside just to listen to your nonsense? Do I look like I have nothing better to do?" Abella glanced up, impatiently, "A good dog doesn't stand in the way. Move aside."
"What if we don't move?" Lucine crossed her arms defiantly, "If you're so capable, crawl under my trousers."
The girls snickered, deliberately blocking the path, refusing to step aside.
Abella pulled out her phone. "Then I'll record this and take it to our counselor. Even a demerit and a written apology haven't taught you a lesson. Now, repeat what you said earlier; what do you want on the mountainside?"
"You!!!" Lucine seethed, "Put that phone away."
But Abella filmed their faces unabashedly, making pointed remarks, "This skin, clearly dehydrated. What's the use of piling on whitening products?"
One girl, in a panic, subconsciously touched her face. How did Abella know she only used whitening products and no moisturizers? No wonder her skin remained dry despite the whitening creams and serums. She needed hydration first.
But how could Abella have known?
"And this face… Constipated recently, have we?" Abella continued critiquing another girl, "Cut down on the junk food, drink more water. And you, what's with the laughter? Look at the acne on your face."
Abella cut a striking figure with her tall stature, fair skin, and a delicate visage that glowed in the daylight. Several girls couldn't help but want skincare advice from her, only to be silenced by Lucine's stern glance.
"With the time you waste obstructing my path, you might as well go tend to your faces. To be in such a state as freshmen."
Hearing Abella say that, indeed a girl stepped aside, took out a mirror and examined her own face.
Lucine was nearly beside herself with anger, and before she could say anything, Abella swaggered off right in front of them.
"Abella, the Calla you bullied yesterday is my cousin! I'm telling you, I'll settle both new grudges and old scores with you one day! You just wait!!"
Abella hadn't expected that Calla and this Lucine were sisters.
Their temperaments were indeed quite similar.
