Chapter 358 Brag To Each Other
Before Clare could finish, the guys shushed her intensely, signaling her to keep quiet...
Joanna and Josie were clueless, thinking, "‘Homeland’ and what? What does it mean? What are they talking about??”
At that moment, Ethan and Phillipe finished their talk and walked over towards them.
The sunlight glinted off them, accentuating their imposing heights and long strides, each radiantly handsome in his own way.
Joanna and Josie were awestruck. They thought, “Those faces could outshine so many in Hollywood...”
"Sorry to keep you waiting." Phillipe tousled Abella's hair affectionately, overtly doting.
Ethan, standing beside them, thought, “... Here we go again! Didn't he agree on toning it down in public? And yet, they're all lovey-dovey...”
Abella glanced at Ethan and asked calmly, "Are you guys done talking?"
"Hmm." Catching his sister's gaze, Ethan quickly added, "I had a very good talk."
“Not even raised my voice a little.” Ethan thought.
"After the drill today, Ethan and I will pick you up for dinner at home, and then we'll drop you off back at school," Phillipe declared the final decision made by him and Ethan.
Abella nodded, "Okay."
“So, after the afternoon drill, my fiancé and my brother would come together to take me home.” She thought.
“Two people are coming to pick me up!” Abella thought.
Mr. and Mrs. Medici hadn't come out yet, so Abella glanced at the office, saying, "We'll be going ahead then."
“The day's drill isn't over yet. Liam probably is itching to get back...” Abella thought.
“He was almost scared to death by the earlier event...” She thought.
"Okay." Phillipe happened to meet a business associate nearby and rushed to school upon hearing that Abella was in trouble. Now, he needed to get back to his meeting, so after bidding farewell, he left.
There were only Ethan and a few of his men.
"Secretary, your sister is stunning!"
"Your family's genes are just too good!"
“If she hadn't been engaged to Phillipe, we’d all consider pursuing her to become the Secretary’s brother-in-law!” The guys thought.
Ethan's gaze turned menacing, and he asked, "Who was it earlier that mentioned my sister's long legs, slim waist, and great figure? Step forward!"
His men realized that their boss was going to pick a bone with them. They pointed fingers at each other in panic.
"It was him! He was the one looking at your sister’s legs!"
"And he was eyeing her waist!"
"He's the one who looked her over up and down and commented on the whole package!"
After the round of accusations, they all cowered, heads bowed, "Secretary, we were wrong..."
"We didn't know she was your sister!"
"Had we known, we wouldn't dare sneak a glance, not for a hundred guts!"
"Seriously, forget a hundred, not even with a thousand guts would we dare to be your brother-in-law!"
“…,” thought Ethan. His gaze carried frustration and warning, and he said, "From now on, don't look at what you shouldn't!"
"Yes, Secretary!"
"Run ten laps around the field."
“Wha… What???” They thought.
“Did we hear that right?” They thought.
"Secretary, this is a school..."
“Running aimlessly on a school track, and for ten laps, it might be... improper?” They thought.
"So, you'd prefer to run around the entire New York city?"
"No, no, we definitely don’t want that! "
"There are plenty of girls at school. Consider this an opportunity to show off... maybe someone clueless will take a fancy to you?"
The men thought, “...”
“What did he mean by clueless?” They thought.
“We are quite impressive, okay?” They thought.
“Not only have we earned our accolades over the years, but we also have the looks to form a boy band if we want!” They thought.
But Ethan clearly had no intention of letting them off the hook...
Sigh!
“Who could have guessed that as soon as Abella left, the Secretary would revert to that stern, sarcastic, and clever persona...” The guys thought.
They already missed Abella...
“Would the Secretary even give us the time of day if she were here?” They thought.
“Did Abella know she has such a mercurial brother?” They thought.
“Oh well, just accept your fate!” They thought.
“Let’s run!” They thought.
While they were out jogging around the track, Ethan took out his phone and texted Blake a message on WhatsApp.
"Saw our sister today."
"Her hair is so soft, and she looks so sweet and pretty, thoughtful and adorable, gentle and understanding."
"And our sister said her favorite person is Ethan!"
After sending three messages in a row, Ethan's lips curved into a smirk. He thought, “Ha, take that for revenge.”
Backstage, preparing for his concert, Blake saw Ethan had bombarded him with a whole bunch of WhatsApp messages. Blake thought, “In all these years, that was a first!”
“To think of Ethan sending that many messages. Sometimes, I wouldn't even hear from him for a month or two when he was busy!” Blake thought.
“Or even, Ethan won’t reply to my messages!” Blake thought.
Blake pressed the talk button, "Yeah, right, keep dreaming! Abella's favorite guy is Phillipe, so every brother of hers has to step aside! Don't think you and I are any exceptions!"
"..." Ethan thought, “That... actually makes sense?”
Ethan pondered, recalling Abella defending Phillipe so earnestly. Ethan thought, “She really seemed to like him?”
Ethan suddenly felt a tinge of jealousy... He thought, “Why’s that?”
"You coming back for how many days?" Blake asked.
Ethan simply replied with a "four".
Off-topic again, and his replies became terse…
Blake pressed talk again, "The time you'll spend alone with Abella, and I mean alone, won't exceed one hour. Don't ask me how I know!"
“Asking about that would be infuriating!” Blake thought.
“The last time I went back, Phillipe monopolized all of my sister's time, preventing me from even one opportunity to take her out alone. No chance at all. That was way out of line!” Blake thought.
"Do you really think Abella likes Phillipe?" Ethan inquired again.
“See that? More words when it's about Abella!” Blake thought.
Blake replied, "You'll see soon enough."
“These four days would surely show Ethan how Abella dotes on that old fox and how our cherished little sister could be cruel to us... And how that old fox would cling to Abella...” Blake thought.
"Alright, enough chit-chat. I'm about to hit the stage."
Ethan zoned out, staring at his phone, then remembered something. He forwarded the messages he just sent Blake to his older brother.
Steven replied almost instantly, "You got one chance to stroke her head. What's there to show off?"
Ethan thought, “...”
"Only back for four days? That's nothing compared to the time I spent with Abella. You're short a few hundred hours."
Ethan thought, “...”
"To Abella, you're a stranger. You can't compete with me, someone who's already secured a place in her heart."
Ethan thought, “...”
"Abella prefers peace. Don't call or text her unless it's necessary. If you need to say something, tell me, and I'll pass it on."
Ethan thought, “... Huh, thanks for nothing! I don’t believe you at all!”
“I didn't think my brother could stoop so low, spinning lies just to win over our sister's affection...” Ethan thought.
"Abella just told me she loves chatting with me the most and insisted I should call or text her whenever," Ethan typed and sent the message, purposefully provoking his older brother.
"I just took a screenshot," Steven retorted, not one to be outdone. "I'll send this to Abella right now and check if you're telling the truth."
"... Unbelievable! That's just shameful!" Ethan thought.
