Chapter 645 Admit Your Mistakes
When Lola woke up, she saw a short video from Vivian, filmed in her garden.
In the video, Phillipe and Abella were acting all lovey-dovey.
Lola was shocked. 'How did Vivian end up at my house? Why is Abella home? Isn't she supposed to be out today? And why is Phillipe there?'
Vivian texted after sending the video: [Lola, you were napping and missed how much Phillipe cares about you. He brought this girl to your garden to provoke you into taking him back. You should consider it. Seeing him like this, I feel bad for him.]
Lola thought, 'This is a disaster! If Vivian finds out Abella is the real daughter and Phillipe is her fiancé, my adopted status will be exposed!'
Wrapped in a blanket, Lola hurried out of bed and fell, bruising her knee.
Ignoring the pain, she ran to the garden.
Vivian, Cathy, Isabel, Nina, and Sophie were all there, facing Phillipe, Abella, and Steven in a standoff.
Lola's heart sank. 'Do my friends know my secret? Why is Steven here? Did Abella call him?'
Lola's mind went blank.
Lauren approached her and said, "Ms. Lola Medici, Mr. Steven Medici wants to see you."
Lola realized everyone was looking at her with complex expressions.
She felt weak, unsure how to explain.
Last time, she lied to her friend Sierra, saying Abella sweet-talked Beckett and Kimberly into making her their goddaughter, taking the Medici name.
But Ethan's girlfriend, Camila, humiliated her. Camila tricked her into going to Medical University, saying Ethan wanted lunch.
When she arrived, she saw Sierra, some friends, and Camila. She pretended to faint.
But Ethan and Camila saw through it and wanted Abella to treat her.
The truth came out, and Sierra and some friends broke off their friendship with her.
She was extremely nervous. 'Should I pretend to faint again? But Steven would see through it. What should I do? Steven is the hardest to deal with among my brothers.'
"Ms. Lola Medici, Mr. Steven Medici and Mr. Bourbon know everything. You should confess and stop struggling," Lauren advised, making Lola clench her fists.
"Lola, come here," Steven called out, his expression cold.
Lola was in a dilemma. She knew her tricks wouldn't work, so she braced herself and walked over.
"Why did you lie?" Vivian stepped forward, tears in her eyes, angrily questioning, "I always considered you my best friend, sharing all my secrets with you! To me, you were always pure, kind, and innocent. Why did you become like this?"
Cathy chimed in, "We know everything, Lola."
"You've changed so much we don't even recognize you," Isabel said, clearly disappointed. "When did this start? How did we miss it?"
"The mix-up wasn't your fault. Steven still treated you like his sister. You were still the heiress here. Your life didn't change. There was no need to lie," Nina added. "You were really foolish!"
"Yeah, we used to envy your status, your closet full of limited-edition brands, and how everyone revolved around you. But we didn't just want your benefits. We wouldn't stop being friends just because you aren't a Medici," Sophie said.
Sure, today they wanted some perks from Lola, like those limited-edition shoes and purses they couldn't get.
But Lola had so many she couldn't use them all.
In the past, Lola often gave them old models, still with tags, and they were happy to accept.
To them, it was sharing between friends, and they also gave Lola branded items.
Not as valuable, but still.
Even if Lola couldn't give them anything in the future, their friendship was genuine.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have stood up for her earlier, trying to humiliate Abella.
"I'm sorry," Lola said, bowing deeply. When she looked up, tears were in her eyes.
"Honestly, I feel relieved now. I don't have to lie anymore," Lola said, smiling sadly through her tears. "Maybe you can't understand how someone like me, who was showered with love, felt when someone appeared who could take it all away. I was so lost, so anxious, so scared."
Before Lola could finish, Vivian tearfully accused, "But the life you enjoyed was hers! You should have given it back!"
Her friends nodded in agreement.
"Abella didn't ask you to give it back. She even let you continue enjoying this life. Shouldn't you be grateful? Instead, you smeared her. Honestly, Lola, I'm so disappointed. You're still acting. I don't think we need to be friends anymore. Don't contact me again," Vivian said, turning to leave but then stopped and looked back at Lola.
Lola thought Vivian had forgiven her.
But then Vivian turned to Abella, walked over, and bowed deeply. "I'm sorry. I didn't understand the truth and wrongly accused you. That was my fault."
The other girls also apologized to Abella. Their upbringing taught them to admit their mistakes.
