Chapter 783 Abella is Here
Abella shot back: "So, I should just ignore Mr. Thompson too, see how long you can hold out?"
Kenneth: "Nah, don't do that. You know me, I'm chill. Even for a big deal like this birthday bash, I'm taking it easy."
Abella laughed: "Still not out the door?"
Kenneth: "Almost there, almost there."
Abella: "Stay safe."
Kenneth couldn't help but screenshot Abella's message and drop it in the group chat.
Kenneth: "Abella's so sweet. She's all grown up, thoughtful, and looking out for me!"
He threw in a smug emoji.
Clarence: "I messaged her, and she didn't even reply! Did you dig that message up from the archives?"
Rodolfo: "Must be my crappy Wi-Fi; I haven't gotten any love from Abella."
Ian: "My car just went through a tunnel, signal's trash."
Clifford: "You guys are kidding yourselves. You can send messages but not get them? Who you fooling? Face it, Abella just ain't messaging you."
Rodolfo: "Clifford, like Abella's messaging you either."
To prove Abella's message was fresh, Kenneth took another screenshot with the timestamp and posted it.
The group chat blew up.
Clarence: "Abella's playing favorites!"
Rodolfo: "This is so unfair!"
Ian: "Why does Kenneth get a message and I don't? Abella!"
Clifford: "Abella, did Kenneth bribe you? Is he right there, pretending to be you?"
Clarence was the most bummed out. He kept staring at the chat, feeling down when Abella still didn't reply.
But just as he was about to lose hope, he got a message from Abella. He almost jumped out of his seat.
Abella: "Mr. Wodehouse, I'm here."
Clarence screenshotted Abella's message and posted it in the group chat, bragging: "Abella just sent me this. She's already here. See, who does she care about the most? She got to my party before any of you."
The group chat exploded into another argument, and Abella was about to step in when someone bumped her arm.
Enid grabbed a cupcake and said to her friend, "Some people just don't know how to act, like that actress who's always in the news. She loves wrecking homes and stealing husbands. Reporters say all three of her relationships were with married guys."
Willow Chapman, who was there with her grandpa to see the world, was friends with Enid. She nodded, "Some people think being a homewrecker is cool. Look at her flaunting her affair to Lola. It's insane."
"Some people think they're all that, not realizing how gross they are. Lola's a perfect match, not someone a broke girl like her can compete with," Enid said, holding the cupcake and bumping into Abella again on purpose.
"Enough." This time, Abella wasn't letting it slide.
"Talking smack about others, huh? How clean are your hands? Was that on purpose?" Abella shot Enid a cold stare, her eyes like ice. "Do I even know you?"
Enid, despite being a rich heiress, felt a chill from Abella's vibe.
"So what? I didn't bump into you on purpose."
"Did I say you did?"
Enid was left speechless.
"Since you know you bumped into someone, apologize." Abella didn't want to make a scene. Clarence's birthday party was a rare event, and she didn't want to ruin it.
But Enid's defiant look said she wasn't planning to apologize.
"Can't even say sorry? Do I need to make a move?"
"I'm a guest invited by Mr. Wodehouse. You wouldn't dare."
Abella stepped forward, her cold gaze making Enid instinctively step back.
"Mr. Wodehouse invited you?" Abella took another step, and Enid, losing her nerve, stepped back again. "Someone like you, he would look up to?"
"What do you mean?" Enid tried to meet Abella's eyes but quickly looked away. "You're insulting Mr. Wodehouse's taste."
"I'm saying you have poor character."
Enid, both angry and embarrassed, snapped, "I just accidentally bumped into you twice. Do you have to be so aggressive? You didn't even get hurt."
Abella took another step, cornering Enid against the wall.
Abella stepped on her foot, knowing what she was about to say, and retorted, "It's just a step, no injury."
Enid tried to break free, but she was no match for Abella. "It hurts, get your foot off."
Willow quickly tried to mediate, "Today is Mr. Wodehouse's birthday. We're all his guests. Let's not make a scene. Let her go, Enid didn't do it on purpose. You two are even now."
"She bumped into me twice, I only stepped on her once. Even?" Abella didn't lift her foot, her cold eyes fixed on Enid.
"Enid, apologize to her." Willow realized Abella wasn't someone to mess with. "Don't forget we have important things to do today!"
They came to learn from Clarence, so it was best not to make a fool of themselves and leave a bad impression.
Although Enid didn't want to apologize to Abella, she reluctantly said, "Sorry, okay?"
"No."
"What do you want?"
"Can't you sincerely apologize? Didn't your family teach you? Do I need to do it for them?"
Enid bit her lower lip, seeing Clarence running towards them from a distance. To avoid embarrassing herself, she quickly said, "Sorry, I did it on purpose earlier. It won't happen again."
"See, that wasn't so hard." Abella gave her a cold look and turned to walk away.
Enid watched her back, tears welling up, planning to play the victim in front of Clarence and get him to stand up for her.
After all, she accidentally bumped into Abella, but Abella stepped on her foot and made her apologize.
If Clarence knew Abella was so petty.
But the next second, Clarence, like a happy child, ran towards them.
Even the guests around who wanted to greet him were ignored.
