Chapter 935 Less Than 24 Hours

"I know what Jacob wants. As soon as he shows up, I'll grab him and trade him for Lola's life. Sound good?" Henry said, bowing deeply. "Please."

The four exchanged glances, thinking Henry was beyond help. He was genuinely devoted to Lola, but she didn't appreciate it. Her heart had always been with Phillipe.

"Go home," Kimberly said, not planning to release Lola. "She's hurt Abella too many times. I'm not letting her off easy. Honestly, if she dies, it's on Jacob for not showing up. He doesn't care about his own daughter's life, so why are you, her boyfriend, so concerned?"

"Mrs. Medici..." Henry tried to say more, but Kimberly cut him off.

"Even if you wait outside for days, I won't release her. Give it up. I don't want to waste words with you," Kimberly said coldly, looking tired. "Go home. You're a respectable man, and I don't want to have you thrown out. There's no room for negotiation about Lola. Don't waste your effort."

Henry looked at the other three elders, who remained silent, clearly agreeing with Kimberly.

Henry knew that saying more was useless. "Sorry, Mrs. Medici, for upsetting you again."

He bowed deeply once more, his voice still polite and respectful. "I'll catch Jacob as soon as possible and trade him for Lola. It's late, so I won't disturb your rest any longer. Goodbye."

He knew he couldn't win by force, especially with Caleb and Bonnie there, who had brought some of their influence with them.

Easter was approaching, and Lola's brothers would be coming back. The Medici family was deeply rooted in this city, and he was outmatched. Besides, using force wasn't his style.

There was only one way left: catch Jacob. The Medici family wanted to know the truth about the hospital fire, so even if Jacob fell into their hands, he wouldn't die immediately, just suffer some injuries.

But Lola was different. She had been starving for two days and nights, and she was injured. Who knew how much longer she could hold on?

Watching Henry leave, Beckett sighed. "Why is Henry so infatuated? Is Lola really worth it?"

"The Hall family raised him well. Such a loyal and passionate person is rare these days. It's a pity Lola is destined to break his heart," Caleb said regretfully.

"If Lola survives, with her personality, she'll get into trouble sooner or later. She and Henry won't last, and the Hall family won't accept someone like her. Don't worry about it," Bonnie added. "Everyone has their fate. We've done what we can. The rest is up to him."

"Two days have passed, and Jacob still hasn't shown up," Kimberly said, a hint of worry in her voice.

Just then, a servant reported, "Mr. Medici, Mrs. Medici. Lola hasn't moved. I opened the door and found her lying on the ground, cold to the touch, with a high fever. Her breathing is faint. I had to check for a long time to feel a slight breath."

The servant was terrified, her voice trembling. Easter was coming; she couldn't die here, could she?

"Call a doctor to check on her," Bonnie said, glancing at the others. "Let's see how long she can hold on."

Without food or water, and with her injuries, she probably had only a day or two left, at most.

If Jacob didn't show up, letting her die here would indeed be bad luck.

The family doctor, after examining Lola, rushed to the garden table with his medical bag. "Mr. Medici, Mrs. Medici, Lola's wounds are infected, and her fever won't go down. If this continues, she won't last 24 hours..."

Everyone's faces darkened. The situation was worse than they had expected.

"Do you think we should give her some medicine or treat her wounds? There's still time to save her. If we wait until tomorrow, even Ms. Medici won't be able to help." The doctor said.

After all, Abella was the best doctor he had ever seen.

Lola's condition would be beyond help by tomorrow, even for Abella!

"Don't worry about it. Leave," Kimberly said firmly. If Jacob could be heartless, why couldn't they, who had no blood relation?

"I think Jacob is betting that we'll save her. He'd rather let her suffer another day than show up and get caught. What kind of father doesn't care about his child? He's truly heartless," Beckett said with disdain.

"Our family is known for spoiling our children. Compared to others, everyone knows she's the most pampered. Jacob is counting on us not to sit by and do nothing after eighteen years with her," Kimberly said angrily. "This time, we won't do as he wishes! If he doesn't care, neither will we!"

"If she dies, we can just throw her body out. Jacob will at least come to collect it, and then we'll catch him within a couple of days," Bonnie said nonchalantly.

The doctor said Lola had less than 24 hours. They could throw her out a few hours early, and Jacob would come to pick her up.

It was up to Beckett and Kimberly to decide.

"Alright, let's not think too much for now. It's getting late. Let's all go to bed," Caleb said, noticing the night getting colder.

Everyone went inside, each with their own thoughts, while Lola remained lying on the cold floor of the basement.

The next morning, Dennis arrived at the Bourbon Group's reception room. Phillipe had just finished a morning meeting and was surprised to hear Dennis was there.

In the lounge, Dennis was as arrogant as ever. Just sitting there, his presence made the secretary so nervous she could barely hold the coffee, her hands shaking badly.

"Mr. Medici, here's your coffee," The secretary said, not daring to look up, placing the coffee in front of Dennis with trembling hands.

Dennis had a bad reputation over the years, known for being unpredictable and violent. The fact that he kept wild animals as pets was enough to scare anyone.

"Got Parkinson's at such a young age? Hands shaking like that?" Dennis teased.

What kind of people did Phillipe hire? How could this person be a secretary?
