At this moment, Maria brought a plate of fruit over and said, "Miss Lola, you've been busy all morning. You must be thirsty. Have some fruit."
Before Lola thanked her, Maria whispered, "Miss Lola, can we have a moment?"
Lola looked up at her and naturally understood what she meant. Seeing another servant working nearby, Lola stood up and said, "Maria, take them to the garden. I'll eat there."
"Okay."
Maria followed Lola with the fruit in hand until they reached a corner of the garden where no one was around.
Then, she sighed sympathetically, "Miss Lola, that's not fair! You've never needed to please Mr. and Mrs. Medici like this before."
Lola lowered her eyes, wanting to hide her upset but couldn't.
She also didn't wanna do that stuff. But in this family, Abella would only become more and more important while she would gradually become nobody.
But Lola still had a chance to catch up.
"Here. Miss Lola, I've prepared some imported fruits for you. Try some! You didn't eat much this morning."
Maria felt sorry for Lola. "Oh, right, I called you here to tell you that as long as the Medici family hasn't announced Ms. Medici's identity yet, you and Phillipe's engagement is still valid in the eyes of the public."
Lola's eyes lit up instantly.
She thought, 'Yes, Phillipe. I still have Phillipe. Being the Medici family's heiress? I don't care. As long as I marry Phillipe, I'll have everything!'
"Miss Lola, you grew up with Phillipe since childhood. Although you rarely met, you've at least met him more than that 'Ms. Medici' did! She has never even seen Phillipe!"
"Maria, what do you mean?" Lola guessed her meaning somewhat, but she couldn't say it.
"I know a few people from the Bourbon family as they work there. Sir Bourbon has been fasting and taking no medicine these days to force Phillipe to show up. He almost died in the hospital!"

After a pause, she added confidently, "Even if he doesn't know much about love and doesn't plan on getting married yet, that's fine. You can get close to him and let him know you more. If he falls in love with you, Ms. Medici will naturally be out of the game!
"Besides, Sir Bourbon has always wanted to witness Phillipe's marriage. As long as you get Sir Bourbon's approval, you'll marry into the Bourbon family!"
Maria's words aroused Lola's ambition, but her conscience stopped her.
"Maria, we all know about the engagement between the two families. But that's not mine. I'm just an adopted daughter," Lola whispered.
"But what if Phillipe loves you?" Maria said firmly. "Sir Bourbon only hopes for Phillipe's happiness. Who he marries isn't important, but who he loves and wants to marry is!"
Lola was vaguely persuaded by her words.
"Now, the Bourbon family knows nothing about Abella. Miss Lola, do something now. This is your best chance!" Maria said hurriedly.
Maria watched Lola grow up over the years and didn't wanna see her fall.
She thought as long as Lola married Phillipe, her status could rise not only in New York but also in the country!
So she continued to persuade Lola, "With a noble identity, Abella won't have trouble marrying into a good family in the future. But you're different! You don't have parents or prominent backers. You're just an adopted daughter of the Medici family. Who knows if they'll keep you in the future? You know, as an adopted daughter, it's very hard for you to marry a rich and noble man. If you don't marry Phillipe, you'll be oppressed by Ms. Medici forever! Forever!"
Under Maria's persuasion, Lola took out her phone and found Phillipe on WhatsApp. She saw her previous messages, such as 'Are you awake?', 'Busy today?', 'Goodnight', and so on. But Phillipe replied to none of them.
Yesterday, Lola just returned to the country and sent a message to Phillipe, but he didn't reply. "Miss Lola!" Maria said a lot, and Lola finally broke down and sent several messages in a row.
Lola: [Phillipe, busy? Heard that Ryan got sick and is hospitalized. Shall we go to visit him together?]
Lola: [You free today? Can you come pick me up? If not, I'll have the driver take me over so as not to trouble you. I'm very worried about Ryan!]

Abella came to the spacious balcony and enjoyed the garden scenery before her eyes. Inadvertently, she discovered two figures in the distance, discussing something.
They were too far away for her to hear their voice, but she could tell that they were Lola and Maria. Lola was sitting on a white wicker chair while Maria stood beside her, seemingly trying to persuade her of something.
Abella didn't care much. After admiring the scenery for a while, she went inside, leaving the two in the garden who nervously stared at the phone.
Unlike before, Lola's phone screen lit up quickly this time.
Lola's heart skipped a beat as she checked it. Meanwhile, she exclaimed excitedly in her heart, 'It's Phillipe! Finally! He finally replied to my message!'
But there were only two cold words: [No need.]
This burst Lola's bubble, and her heart sank.
But encouraged by Maria, Lola sent several more messages explaining how worried she was about Ryan and how he would appreciate visitors when he was ill. She was just representing the Medici family and showing concern for Ryan.
However, by lunchtime, Lola still hadn't received any reply from Phillipe.
She realized that Phillipe wouldn't reply.
Meanwhile, Abella sat on the sofa with her phone in hand. She tapped and ordered: [Find out what caused the fire at Ystad Hospital 18 years ago on September 10th.]
Cody: [Are you serious, boss? Ystad Hospital?]
It was built on the border of three cities. With a large and complex population and the changes of the times, the hospital was long gone.
Cody: [Why do you want to find out the cause? Does it have anything to do with your parentage, boss?]
Abella: [Yes.]
Abella always thought there was something suspicious about that fire—why did a hospital suddenly catch fire?
Kimberly said it happened during a rainy night, so even if someone accidentally noticed it, they should've been able to contain it before everything burned down into ashes.
