Chapter 737 We're Even
Henry jumped in, "Hey, it's not Lola's fault. I didn't make myself clear."
Lola's eyes widened, totally shocked that Henry was still sticking up for her.
Her feelings were all over the place.
Lola felt a lump in her throat, almost ready to cry.
"Sorry," Henry looked at Phillipe, stood up, and apologized like a true gentleman, "I thought you were just messing around, flaunting your new girl in front of Lola to hurt her."
Phillipe was stunned. 'Flaunt? The love between him and Abella was real; no need to show off.'
Henry continued, "Especially with all the run-ins today, I thought you were trying to one-up Lola. Plus, I had no clue Abella was from the Medici family or about your engagement. Seeing you at Caleb's place, I thought you were just trying to mess with Lola."
So, he got out of the car and punched him, thinking they were being jerks.
"I figured it out." Abella had already pieced it together, which is why she kindly warned him that he was no match for Phillipe and wouldn't gain anything from a fight.
Henry didn't expect Abella to be so cool. Instead, she made him see her in a new light. He stood up again and sincerely apologized, "I'm sorry, I got it all wrong."
"It's cool, you took a punch from Phillipe, so we're even." Abella noticed his face was swollen from the punch, knowing Phillipe didn't hold back. This time, they had the upper hand on Henry.
"Take a seat." Bonnie motioned for Henry to sit. "Since we're all family, let's clear this up. Today, your grandpa isn't here, and Caleb isn't either. I haven't been a great host. If you don't eat the coffee and snacks on the table, they'll get cold."
Everyone grabbed something to munch on, each lost in their own thoughts.
Just then, Bonnie's phone rang; it was a call from her subordinate. "Excuse me, I need to take this."
While Bonnie was on the call, Henry's eyes drifted back to Lola, seemingly sizing her up.
Lola didn't react at all, not even a glance.
Instead, Phillipe and Abella exchanged a smile, their eyes full of love.
"Okay, I'll be there." Bonnie wrapped up the call and smiled. "Sorry, I gotta handle something. This is your home too, feel free to look around. Abella, Lola, since it's still early, why don't you show your boyfriends around? I gotta go."
"Aunt Bonnie." Abella wanted to ask if she needed help.
Bonnie got it right away. As she passed Abella, she patted her head and said, "Don't worry, I got this."
Abella thought of Bonnie's skills and nodded, feeling reassured. "Come back soon."
"Okay," Bonnie said, then looked at Phillipe approvingly, "Spend more time with Abella."
"Will do."
As soon as Bonnie left, Lola bolted out through another door, heading straight for the garden.
"Lola!" Henry quickly chased after her.
Phillipe held Abella gently and said, "Aunt Bonnie asked you to show me around. I wanna see your room."
"Who heads straight to the room on their first visit?" Abella wrapped her arms around his waist, leaning into his embrace.
"The room's where the real you lives. It shows your everyday vibe."
"Haven't you seen my everyday vibe? It's not like we haven't shared a room before."
Abella's words made Phillipe hug her tighter, his voice dropping low. "You're getting good at teasing me."
Abella looked puzzled.
"My desires are all stirred up because of you. Aren't you gonna take responsibility for that?" Phillipe chuckled softly, his eyes full of affection.
Not far away, the servants were chatting.
"They look so happy together."
"That Phillipe really seems to dig Ms. Abella Medici. Look at the way he looks at her, I'm so jealous!"
"When are they tying the knot? I'm so anxious!"
Their voices reached Phillipe's ears. He smiled and looked at them. "I'll make sure you get the invites early."
The servants were stunned, not expecting to be invited to Phillipe and Abella's wedding.
This happiness came out of nowhere, and they all shouted excitedly, "Thank you, Mr. Bourbon!"
"Congrats in advance to Mr. Bourbon and Ms. Abella Medici for a lifetime of happiness!"
This made Phillipe look at Abella with interest.
"Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness!"
"May your love for each other only grow stronger with each passing day!"
"Wishing you both a lifetime of love and togetherness!"
Abella suddenly felt like she was about to marry him.
"Thank you." Phillipe graciously accepted all the well-wishes, his gaze returning to Abella.
The servants nearby were shocked by his gaze, not expecting the usually cold and unfeeling Phillipe to have such a gentle side in private.
Abella was so lucky to be able to look at such a handsome face for a lifetime and have such a loving gaze linger on her.
In the garden, Lola ran too fast and accidentally tripped, falling to the ground.
Henry hurriedly went to help her up. "Lola, you okay? Did you hurt yourself?"
"Go away." Lola pushed him away, but her knee hurt so much that she couldn't stand up. She could only sit on the grass, sulking.
"Did you hurt your knee?" Henry asked with concern, "Let me see."
"None of your business."
"Lola!" Seeing her turn her face away, refusing to look at him, Henry simply picked her up.
"What are you doing, Henry? Put me down!"
"The grass is wet and cold; you'll catch a cold." Henry carried her to a nearby swing chair and put her down. "Wait here, don't run off."
He went back to get a first aid kit from a servant and quickly returned.
Lola saw him kneel down and start to roll up her pant leg. "Henry."
"What's with all these injuries on you?" Henry quickly rolled up her pant leg and saw her calf and knee covered in bruises. "How did you get so many bruises? When did you fall? Where did you fall? Why didn't you tell me?"
"None of your business!"
"You're my girlfriend. If it's not my business, whose business is it?"
Henry thought about her going out with him today covered in injuries and felt both heartbroken and sad, "Did you fall accidentally, or was it something else? Did someone bully you?"
