Chapter 612 Undergoing Emergency Treatment
"No, thanks, Grandma."
"Take it."
With Lola nearby, Vanessa didn't say much and shoved the small wooden box into Abella's hand. "Open it when you get home."
"Thanks, Grandma."
Abella looked at Kimberly and the others. "Ready to go?"
"Mom, take care. We'll visit whenever we can," Kimberly said, reluctantly saying goodbye to Vanessa.
Beckett gave a few reminders, his eyes a bit teary.
Blake couldn't help but joke, "Come on, it's not like we'll never see each other again. If you miss me, just fly over, or I'll come to you. It's only a twelve-hour flight."
Kimberly chuckled.
"Grandma, I'm leaving. Don't forget to watch my concert online!" Blake said with a smile.
"Okay, Aimee, I want to watch the surveillance," Vanessa said, unable to get out of bed, watching them board the plane through the cameras.
The plane was parked on the lawn outside the manor.
James personally escorted them to the plane's stairs and reminded Abella, who was the last to board. "Visit when you can. I'll come see you too. Call or text us when you're free."
"Sure, no problem. Bye, Uncle."
"Goodbye."
Abella climbed the stairs, stopped at the top, waved at the surveillance camera, and smiled, saying goodbye to Vanessa.
Vanessa, watching the surveillance, was moved to tears.
Abella still held the small wooden box. After saying goodbye, she walked into the plane's lounge and sat on a single sofa.
Lola glanced secretly in that direction.
She was curious about what Vanessa had given Abella and why it couldn't be opened in person. 'Is it something valuable that Grandma doesn't want others to see?'
Sensing Lola's gaze, Abella put the small wooden box into her backpack and closed her eyes to rest.
Twelve hours later, the plane landed on the private helipad of Long Island Manor. Abella got off the plane, and as soon as her phone was charged, it showed dozens of missed calls and over twenty unread messages.
They were all about the same thing.
Patricia and Diana had an accident and were now in critical condition.
Clara, trying to save them, was violated and severely injured, barely clinging to life.
Winston's voice message to Abella was choked with emotion: [Abella, come quickly. NYU Medical Center, third floor, hurry.]
"Dad, Mom, I need to go out for a bit," Abella said, running towards the garage.
"Where are you going?" Kimberly hadn't reacted yet, and Abella was already far away.
In the blink of an eye, a red sports car sped out of the garage at an astonishing speed.
"What happened?" Beckett looked in the direction Abella had left, puzzled. "What's so urgent that she has to drive so fast at this hour? It's not safe."
"Honey, I have a bad feeling," Kimberly said, instinctively grabbing Beckett's hand. "Remember when Mrs. Wilson had a heart attack? Abella drove like a maniac. Could it be that someone we know is in trouble, and that's why she's in such a hurry?"
"Don't scare yourself," Beckett said, though he was also worried. "We'll ask Abella when she gets back."
Lola, standing nearby, was annoyed. 'Even if Abella has some small business, there's no need to rush out right after getting off the plane. Who's she trying to impress by acting so busy? It's past nine at night. What's so urgent? Isn't she just trying to get her parents' attention? I see right through it!'
Abella's sports car screeched to a halt in front of the hospital's emergency entrance. She jumped out and rushed to the third-floor corridor, where she heard Nicole's cries.
Nicole was crying so hard she could barely stand. Two gurneys were in front of her, the people on them covered with white sheets.
Nicole was lying on the sheets, crying her heart out. Winston was comforting her, his eyes also filled with tears.
Abella stopped, realizing she was too late. Patricia and Diana were already gone.
"Dad, Mom." Nicole's heart-wrenching cries echoed through the corridor.
Doctors and nurses bowed their heads in silent mourning, unable to help.
The surgeon spoke, "When they were brought in, they were barely alive. They lost too much blood and missed the best time for treatment."
"If Abella were here, it would be different!" Winston said, looking up and seeing Abella standing not far away. He immediately called out, "Abella, Clara is still being resuscitated!"
Abella nodded and went in to change into sterile clothing.
The doctors at NYU Medical Center were already familiar with her skills. When she entered, they quickly briefed her on the situation.
Clara was severely injured, with almost no part of her body unscathed.
"I think she had something to say earlier."
"Dr. Medici, as you can see, all our efforts are in vain."
The injuries were so severe that there was no chance of survival. It might be better to let her say her last words.
"As long as there's a glimmer of hope, we shouldn't give up."
Although Abella knew the chances of saving Clara were slim, the image of Winston's teary eyes and Nicole's heart-wrenching cries was still vivid in her mind.
Outside the operating room, Clara's parents rushed over, hearing about her severe injuries, and couldn't help but ask Winston, "What happened?"
"Zephyr, Sharon, it's all my fault," Winston said, guilt-ridden.
"What happened between you two? And who is she?" Sharon asked, seeing another girl crying nearby, confused and anxious.
"Clara was injured protecting my parents. I'm really sorry." Nicole stood up, bowed deeply to them, and couldn't stop crying. "I'm sorry."
"Who are you?" Zephyr had never seen her before.
At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and Beckett and Kimberly rushed in, with Lola following behind.
Zephyr and Sharon had called them, saying Clara was in trouble and it seemed to involve Winston.
Hearing that Clara was severely injured and in critical condition, they rushed over, praying all the way that Clara would be okay.
"She's my girlfriend, Nicole," Winston said.
Hearing this, the three people who had just stepped out of the elevator were stunned, unable to believe it.
Zephyr and Sharon were also shocked. 'The girl bowing to us is Winston's girlfriend. Winston has a girlfriend? Clara is severely injured, risking her life to save Winston's girlfriend's parents?'
"What happened?" Zephyr grabbed Winston's collar and asked.
